I have an old house ~1890 so it has airgaps right down to the basement. Made it relatively easy to run Cat6 all through the house (48 ports in total).
I put in a garden shed at the end of my yard and when I ran power - I also ran Cat 6. I like wired networking.

I found Andromeda to be a pretty fun ride. Anthem was just not good at all.
Bioware used to be a 'immediate purchase' type of studio for me like Rockstar, Valve, Black Isle, Obsidian, Epyx (old C64 days) but they are now in the wait first category. Firaxis and Maxis are there now too unfortunately.

Glad to see that others are also really enjoying the game!
They should have released this game on PC first and then taken 6-12 months for console ports. A lot of the noise could have been avoided.
Game is gorgeous and as mentioned - very well written and just taking in the sights is very enjoyable. I have never taken so many screenshots in a game before.
My system is pretty high-end (9900K@5GHz; 3090 FTW3; 64GB RAM) and I run at 3440x1440 and get 60-80FPS at Ultra settings with DLSS on Quality.
I hope that CDPR continues to build out this gameworld - there is so much potential here - and it's fun already.

I took the plunge this generation and got a 3090 as I run at 3440x1440 and use VR. Monster of a card that I hope carries me for a few years.

Cool. I could see buying back in the day when Chris was trying to get of the ground, and it looked like you'd be flying those ships in a couple of years. I am wondering that people who are buying now are thinking though. Any thoughts?

I actually went to a 'Bar Citizen' on Friday and met people who had just signed up and were buying quite a few ships. They seemed to be people who were tired of consoles, just invested in a new gaming PC, and then discovered SC via friends or Twitch. They knew more about the lore and whatnot than I did.
(Which is not saying much as I am not big on game fiction until I am in the game itself.)

I am in the same boat: a supporter that has become more wary/weary over the past year and hoping that CitCon will contain some real content (like playable by backers) to reassure me that real progress has been made.
Anything less - and I will be very disappointed and probably join the detractor camp.
Although I will not join in on personal attacks etc. or wish for the project to fail.

El Pit
I doubt that AC- or CoD-fans backed this, but Wing Comannder fans did. So how about sticking to the vision of making a great sequel to Wing Commander/Starlancer?
You're right. Most AC or COD fans would not back this game. That's why I did - so that it could be made and perhaps a new generation of gamers could get a chance to play an immersive space sim.

I have also enjoyed the community videos etc. and already feel I have received significant value for my pledge to date.

REALLY?! I gave CIG money for a game, not to make videos about making a game. I know and respect this as a bonus for fans, but it in no way makes me feel like have received ANY value for my pledge FOR A GAME

My subscription ($20/month) pays for the community content-and yes I think I get my money's worth.

Quboid
Really? How much have you spent and what exactly have you received? Also, why did you have to choose between Star Citizen, Assassin's Creed or COD?

I have diverted monies that may have gone to AC XXX or to COD N+1 to Star Citizen - which is my prerogative. My pledge amount is really none of your business, but I give more to charity than I do to SC if that helps allay your concerns about my money.

dsmart
Yes, but they were never billed as being developed for the masses. And that hasn't changed since the first game.

Absolutely-and I admire your adherence to your vision.

This is the sort of thing that really irks me. People see all this crap online, not getting the context, then try to form an opinion based on third-party tainted information. Whatever.

I wrote an entire blog about it last month.

The fact is that I simply don't let people get away with harassing and/or bullying me. It's really the long and short of it. No exceptions.

Derek, I have read your posts on Usenet, Quarter to Three, PlanetCrap, Something Awful, Steam etc. in their entirety and with all of the context. True, there are a lot of idiots that go after you, but you are not a very nice guy to people that disagree with you or question some of your assertions. My opinion on this really does not matter, but I don't like boorish behaviour and you demonstrate that on a regular basis. Hence, my decision to no longer purchase or play your games. No exceptions.

You're still young, aren't you?

I am pretty much your age.

I am thrilled that this medium is being pushed forward after a few years where the only innovation seemed to be indie platformers. The revival of X-Com, Torment, Fallout, Elite etc. has revitalized my interest and investment in the PC as a gaming platform.

Star Citizen could be an absolute flop, but I am still happy to be a part of whatever the hell it turns out to be. This project has kindled the same excitement I felt when I played Elite as a ten year old - more than worth my pledge.
Others may feel betrayed or disappointed by SC's development path, but just because others (like me) do not does not mean there is a need to attack or belittle by using terms like White Knights and trolls. It just dumbs down the conversation.
After all, it's just a game guys

I am still very glad I backed this project. From my perspective, throwing money at a vision is a better use of my funds than buying another iteration of Assassin's Creed and COD. I have also enjoyed the community videos etc. and already feel I have received significant value for my pledge to date. The game is shaping up as I had hoped when I signed up back in 2012.

Derek, I always found your games innovative, but ultimately impenetrable-which is not necessarily a negative. While your ambition has always been admirable (and one of the reasons that I love the PC as a gaming platform), your attitude towards your consumer base, critics and people in general I find so unpalatable that I will no longer purchase or even try any more of your products. Sorry, I just don't like mean people.

I don't understand the general gaming rage and vitriol that plagues the internet as I think that such passion and energy could be channeled into more productive avenues than at a form of entertainment. 1st world problems etc.
