Surely someone took a screenshot or copy of the thread before it was hidden away?

I am surprised they did not update the taskbar icon and that they even took out the (crappy) monitor option from the taskbar menu.

That bugged me. Instead of making the Monitor option more useful (by perhaps telling you how much data still needed to be DLed with an ETA and tell you what's downloading instead of just "Scanning..." as when I DLed Blue-Shift), they simply took removed it.

Also props to Parallax Abstraction's post #17. Well said.

Great news.

[Edit]
Hopefully the fact that its also being developed for a console won't screw up the PC version.

If this is the same RTCW2/sequel that Todd Hollenshead mentioned a few months ago, I sure hope it is indeed coming to the PC as well.

Raven again? No complaints here, though I expected it'd be Nerve or Gray Matter. As I've said before, I enjoyed Elite Force, SOF 1 & 2 and Jedi Knight 2 (haven't played 3 yet). Haven't been let down by Raven yet.

Other than JC and AC, I think only Kevin Cloud is left from the Wolf/Doom days.

Wow. From out of the middle of left field...

Half-Life 2 *was* a better game than the original, imo. With the exception of the install. I can install HL1 and be playing in under 5 minutes. I couldn't do that with HL2. And not just because its a bigger install

While I agree Doom 3 was a bit disappointing, I'm surprised at all the anti-id sentiment here. Yeah, they haven't had a new franchise since Quake 1, but they are starting a new franchise for their next game. They wouldn't have kept making sequels if people didn't want them

I'm glad they didn't sell to Activision. They'd probably make things even worse. As others, I wonder how Adrian got a 41% stake in the company? I didn't think they all had even 20% stakes, but that seems a bit off-balanced. What do the others own?

Not surprised this is going to court though. 40 mill? Geez!

Fun, I hadn't even DLed the previous patch yet.
Anyone know why the Brood War patch sizes got so big lately? 1.12 was about 8MB, then 1.12B and after jumped to 23MB and the patchnotes (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msc01700p) don't seem to explain it. I thought maybe they included the old Maps of the Month (week?), but it doesn't look like it.

Agreed.

-FN-'s post at the top of this page summarizes things up nicely:

As always, I hope for the best but I'm not expecting much.

Honestly I'd much rather see all these maps ported to HL2 DM instead of HL DM:Source.

Good ol' Stalkyard... Oh the memories.

"He's hiding in the box again!"

*BOOM*

I suppose this is good though for the few mutant freaks out there that do not own the original Half-Life (not HL Source).

Who else looked at the title and thought this might be a Neil Manke project?

*Also raises hand*

Not really into space combat games, but the screenshots look nice.

Do we really give a shit about a Stargate game?

No...move along

I do. Though I don't know either the Publisher or Developer very well, I'm more inclined to side with the Developer. Glad to hear work on the game continues though, I'm looking forward to it. So long as it doesn't suck.

I've been VERY happy w/ the free version of AVG...

http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

I agree. I've been using the free version of AVG for several months now, after dumping Norton AV. It works great and doesn't try to take over my system and do nutty things with the Recycle bin like Norton did.

Well I'm still glad Sin 2's being made, and I'm very glad that they're using the Source engine. This $20 per episode every 3-4 months thing doesn't seem that great to me. Especially still being stuck on Dialup.

Even though I got HL2 in March and on DVD, its install still annoyed me. After sitting through the actual install, I then had to wait for Steam to authenticate and "decrypt" my files and then update HL2 to a playable state. Why can't I just play it out of the damn box? I wanted to play after I installed it, not the next morning. I'm sure its all good for people on fast connections, but not everyone is so fortunate.

Still, I'm trying to keep an open mind. Ritual's a good company, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I look forward to Sin 2.

Sin was good. Elite Force 2 was good. I wonder how many of the people complaining actually played or ever tried to play SiN. When I played through it recently (with the 1.11 patch), I experienced only one or two crashes.

Aside from the characters having personalities, one of the more memorable things about Sin was the computers. You could use them to do things (Unlock certain doors, disable security, or read game emails). Much like Doom 3.

I welcome Sin 2. And for those still complaining, give it up. Its been 7 years. Its not even a dead horse anymore, its a skeleton that you're beating. Even if the original Sin's release was a forced out the door mess, that means nothing now.

SiN Rocked, unfortunatly the long loading times earned it its bad reputation, and ofcourse the bomb that was Half-life went off around the same time. Apart from that the game kicked ass, one of the most underrated and ignored titles ever.

I hope SiN II will kick ass.. any hints to what engine it might be using? Source maybe?, or are they still developing their Quake3 based engine?

Well said. I just replayed SiN and the Wages of SiN expansion a month or so ago and found them to still be very enjoyable. I'd be very much interested in playing a sequel.

QUOTE: "And they had discovered some problems: without the owners' knowledge, Wilson had borrowed company money to buy a new BMW."

With a name like "Gamecock Media Group", I agree with the "This is a publicity stunt" crowd. Remember, this is the guy that gave us "John Romero's going to make you his bitch."

More frivalous lawsuits clogging up the courts.

guess they'll have to start using DVDs or somethin though cause PCG CDs lately are crap imo, because they just can't fit demos on CDs like they used to

I wish they'd switch to DVDs too. I miss getting like 4 demos, some patches and mods all one on CD each month.

Thanks for replying Frans. I've always liked 3dGamers as a source of screenshots & movies for upcoming games, patches and hard to find files for older games. I hope this turns out well.
