A nice project. Shame more games don't have this built in.

Being on 56k dialup with broadband out of the question for the time being, and being slightly old-fashioned, I'd much rather buy the actual game box and CD than download the game.

One of the more vile parts of that most I noticed is that Sierra/VUG is trying to *force* Valve to work with them again in the future. wtf? And the thought of Valve loosing the Half-Life IP is very disturbing. Yeah, we can say we'd boycott it, but thousands would still buy the game. It'd still make money. Average Joe Gamer probably wouldn't care that the developer had just been robbed. Then VUG/Sierra would just nose-dive the IP into the ground.

Here's hoping Valve wins this one.

LOL. GameSpot waited a whole 35 minutes for a response at 10pm. Not surprised one bit.

I never understand that. What's the point of licensing if you're just going to "re-write" it all anyways. I guess maybe to use it as a base, but then they can't really call it "their own" anyways. Ugh.

Source engine is just a tarted up extension of the Quake engine with shader support and the Havok physics engine thrown in for good measure

I thought the Source engine was built by Valve from scratch and had nothing left of the Quake engine?

It'd suck if Carmack retired, but I could understand.

Its about time. I have no problems with Raven doing it. I enjoyed Soldier of Fortune (and its sequel), Jedi Knight 2 & Elite Force.

Regarding Bester, if you're up for a good read I'd recommend the "Psi Corps Trilogy". Three books by J. Gregory Keyes which detail the beginning of the Psi Corps, Bester at his prime and then what happened to Bester after the series. They're very nice.

Back on topic, what's with all the hate against Stargate?
I love the series. And while I admit Season 8 isn't quite what I'd hoped, for the most part, its not THAT bad. I've been enjoying Stargate Atlantis. One has to consider its only the first season. As for the game, I hope it turns out to be good, but considering most games based on TV shows or Movies, I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Heh. I loved NOLF & NOLF2. I don't really have any interest in FEAR. I'd rather see another NOLF game.

Bleh. I've tried Steam. It installed fine. There are still a great many things I dislike about it though.
- It starts up too damn slow.
- Don't really feel like having to download updates every time I start the thing up.
- I'm on Dialup. I *really* don't feel like downloading tons of patches every time I decide to wipe my computer. Why can't I just download incremental patches for burning on CD or something?
- Why do I have to connect to Steam to play Half-Life Singleplayer?
- Why can I never click the 'Pause all Updates' or whatever buttons in the steam monitor?
- Why do games still update even after I set them to not Autoupdate...

Don't get me wrong. I do not *hate* Steam. I just think its rather incomplete and little or no thought was given to us supposed "few" Dialup users still left.

Because that would make too much sense!
Lets make people re-download all the updates whenever they install Half-Life! Let them save them as patches? ha!
As a Dialup user with no possibility of broadband for months at least, I spit in Steam's direction.

I wonder if the Mac edition of 007 Nightfire will be any better than the PC edition? I only ever played the Demo and I recall it being horrid. Did Aspyr fix things up or just make a straight port?

Ouch. I enjoyed Starfleet Academy & Klingon Academy.

Feel sorry for those people working all that time without pay. That's loyalty. Or foolishness. Nah, loyalty.

Sorry to see him go. His forum post was interesting, but not all that surprising. I feel a bit more contempt for Valve than I already had though. Wonder if it was "the man himself"'s genious idea to lie about the release date until they absolutely had to announce the delay.

Good Job Blue's News...

Some things should not be reported on in such detail...

Of course! Surely its not Epic's fault for leaving an exploit unfixed for well over 6 months....
