Yeah, also the shine on the roofing material too. The light through the cracks is a lot like that crystal ball demo with the high dynamic light there.

Some of this stuff didn't seem to be in those earley videos, or as visible, I hope what we've seen here will be fully featured in the game and not just the bench. Does anyone know for sure?

I wonder home many people are going to die in the game when they stop to watch a new creature just to look at it, and then whack, your dead.

The 9700pro I purchased a year ago has held up suprisingly well. I don't see the need to upgrade for another year. And when you think about it, 2 years is a long time for anything in computers.

Maybe the time to make the next big upgrade is when Longhorn comes out or near of.

I never pay $50 for a game. BestBuy always has games the first week $10 off. But that forces you to buy it right away, as when that sale ends it will months before that price again.

Right now BF1942 new expansion is only 19.99 at BestBuy, what's it normally?

Check the BestBuy price in the weekend ad, they always have a sale on games during their first or 2nd week out.

I can't remember what I paid for RTR, but I bet it was 19.99 right when it came out.

For those who finish the demo buy just running through it and finishing it in 5 minutes, what did you do, put it on the easiest setting? Put it on the hardest setting and try it again.

Also, after going through the first building, and taking out the guys hiding behind the fence, it little further in the middle of the open area is a little two window building that will have some enemies in. After you kill them, some should have a rifle. I picked that up, and it changed the pace a bit. You can make one shot kills with it. It only has 5 rounds at a time. Though, when you zoom in, its pretty cool seeing your character load each bullet quickly.

I also like how they setup that stationary gun at the end so you can sneak around and take it to kill the last enemies around the anti-air gun.

Enjoyed the demo. My team seems to shoot and shoot and not kill the enemy, but otherwise it seems well done. The level was quite cool, though for that size, I would have liked two levels in the demo. Might show me how well the storyline works. All said, I will pick this one up for the first player game.(indented/italic)

I actually liked that they didn't kill everything. I think that they must kill some enemies, but they leave you to the important ones to kill in order to proceed. This gives you time to explore for ammunition and health without worrying about getting left behind, and some action for youself.

Well if you want sci-fi, you got Halo soon and I guess HL2 is a sci-fi.

Man, guys, stay on topic, who cares what speed one dled at , it's all blah blah blah. If I was a mod, I'd delete all useless posts that had nothing to do with the demo. Stop filling up the forums with garbage. If you don't like the game, don't just say it sucks, elaberate, and especially those who just say they're sick of WWII games, that doesn't really help anyone.

So far a big concern is AI being poor, and that it should be better. But even that feels like a useless description since when has anyone ever not said that about a game.

The game is only a month away, so no point in asking for a demo now as there wouldn't be enough time.

I'm hoping there will be at least some good previews on gaming sites with the near finished version soon, like in at the most 20 days, so we can start getting impressions about the gameplay compared to the videos.

I'd probably pick it up right away if its starting sale price is $29.99. Otherwise I don't like paying full price for such an old game. When Red Faction 1 came to pc, it was 29.99 (I didn't buy it though) and at the same time the PS2 version was still 49.99. I hope they do the same with Halo, or at least sell it for whatever it's going for on the xBox today. If it sales for 49.99, I'd rather get that used deal at gamestop if they still have it, an xBox and Halo for $150. Hell, I think I'm going to check into that. It would be awesome if Halo supported xBox live, at least part 2 will.

Looks great, though, I can't wait till games look like that 9.79mb movie there. Looking at it, you know gaming will eventually look like that, at not too far away.

I meant the position of the player will always be vertical as he flys forward. I don't think you can fly straight forwad horizontally, like superman, or do backwards loops and dives with your head to the ground is what I was trying to say.

nah only n00bs get shot down in their parachute indented/italic)

I guess if you pull the chute just before hitting the ground. I'm sure they've done something to balance this with the rocketpacks.

I forgot the parachute. Maybe you can't ditch the pack, or you lose your parachute. Still, ditching it won't be a good idea since you'll most likely be shot coming down slowly with your chute.

They should edit the game so that the parachute has it's own health. As it loses health from bullets and such, holes should begin to appear and you start decending faster and finally to complete free fall. That would be pretty cool.

Edit:
It's going to be hilarious to watch a plane collide with a rocketpack player in mid-air, you know it's going to happen. I've seen two planes hit where one plane exploded from fire and starts dipping down to crash. At the same time there was a friendly aircraft low to the ground and was pulling up to avoid land just as this dead plane landed on top of it. It's hard to describe how it exactly happened, but if you saw it, you'd have to think to yourself on the chances of what just happened were nearly impossible.

It sounds like you can only fly vertically, like a big jump. You also have to keep an eye on your fuel. When you decend, you have to fire it to slow yourself down. If you jumped too high with low fuel, you might not have enough fuel to land. Then of course landing will be difficult since anyone you didn't kill will be firing on the spot your landing. It will be pretty hard to land quickly while defending your self without hitting the ground too hard. And you'll probably be easier to take out since the pack is explosive.

It doesn't sound like it will be Tribes 2, this rocketpack is too limited. I can't wait to sneek up on a spawn point for them and shoot the enemy when they put that bomb on their back. I also hope it has splash damage.

Well, the ti4600 is only DX8, so anything specific to DX9 you can't get. But I wouldn't think most visual stuff would be DX9, so I think it will still look great with that card, except no AA or AF.

The 9800pro is probably a good upgrade from the 4600. When you think about the AA and AF, even if the frames arn't much faster with 4xAA and 16xAF on at 1280*960, it still looks 100% better, you'll never go back to anyhting less.

Though I'd wait for the 9900pro at least. I had a Geforce 3, like I said in my last post, but I wanted to wait another generation or more after the ti4600 before upgrading, it just wasn't worth for the extra frames per second when the GF3 was good enough. Then suddently with the r300 with AA and AF, I couldn't resist.

I paid 350 for my Geforce 3 on it's release. It was good, but not amazing (besides tech demos). It lasted long enough but it was a lot of money. Though I think just before the Geforce 3 release the Geforce2 Ultra was still around $450+. It of course dropped in price real quickly. So getting the all new Geforce 3 for $350 retail at the time was pretty good I guess for a top of the line card compared to how the pricing of the GF2 Ultra was.

Then I bought the Radeon 9700Pro right on it's release for $399, which included tax and shipping. Now that was a great buy, playing with AA and AF for the first time rocked. BF1942 was just came out, so the R300 was released just in time to make that game look amazing. Though, the GF3 was able to handle that game at 1152*864 maxed out, which is impressive.

Now it's 9-10 months later and the 9700pro is still an awesome card that will last easily another year or more. Well worth the money. The fact that I enjoyed so many games like BF1942 with AA/AF for so long is great while others waited for Nvidias card that ended up being a downer, not beng any much faster than the already 6-7 month old r300, and not to mention noisier and hard to find.

I just upgraded my system from an 1800+ to a 2500+ Oced to at least a 3000+ (still tweaking), so now I got a nice boost in performance making the 9700pro last even longer. I upgrade by video card, then cpu and mobo back and forth.

I found the demo sp to be pretty good, though short (wanted more). The whole dling thing for better routines and weapons is cool. Plus how you set it up is fun, sorta like an rpg in a way. Forces you to give something up to get something else.

The graphics are even more impressive over the last demo. The weapons are fun to watch, even when reloading. I played the demo at 1280*960 32bit 4xAA and 8x AF, silky smooth. The cycle map had a lot more going on, but still ran smooth.

I almost gave up when it seemed too difficult early on. Though, I soon realized I had more than a disc. Then when I got the cluster upgrade (removed power block to fit) it became easier, especially killing them before reaching the alarm.

How come there are only 2 servers up? The old demo had always 30+. I think the Light Cycles are still available to play online, it's just that there are no servers yet. I went to host and you can select the cycles and when you launch it, it will say that cycles is only supported in lan, click to continue. Which means you still can, they just don't support it fully.
