I had bought WWII Online when it first hit shelves but like everyone knows, the performance, features, and even gameplay were all lacking big time early on. When they finally announced that the pay time would start I had already uninstalled the game, and was glad I hadn't gotten hooked on a monthly pay for play game.
After that initial disapointment there is no way I'd give it another shot, even for a free trial. Sounds stupid I guess, but I've got enough shooter games to keep me busy without a monthly fee.
I hope at least that WW2 Online is one of the cases game companies consider before they release an unfinished product. Even if Cornered Rat/Strategy First/Playnet could have squeezed out another month or two from their budgets to get a more solid game it might have made a difference, and the product would have been more succesful overall.
Now they have to just keep slugging away and hope that word of mouth eventually makes them a good money maker.
