That's a pretty biased assessment, FWIW. Empire enjoys a solid 88+% on Gamerankings (higher than Medieval 2, slightly lower than Rome. The gameplay is great, and if you're not predisposed to disliking the time period the setting is as well.

Most of the bad reactions to the game have been about bugs and gameplay issues that have been (or are being, with this patch) largely ironed out.

You could try the demo, but as I recall it's just a battle demo and doesn't include any campaign. I'd say if you're a fan of the Total War series, buying Empire--especially now that it has had a few significant patches--is a no-brainer.

Also, what's your point? Both Fallout 1 & 2 can be "speed-run" beaten in under 20 minutes.

Now hang on. These may be your opinions of the game, but your "most reviews" claim is a bit off. Gamerankings has 34 reviews for Assassin's Creed on PC, ranging from 60%-100%, with an average score of 80% Even in the lowest scoring reviews, I didn't find anybody "slamming" the controls or DX10.1 issues. I found mention that "the controls take getting used to" and that DX10 "doesn't run as well as DX9," but that's hardly damning.

The 360 reviews are much the same, with a slightly higher average score. Which of course DOES raise the question: What are Ubisoft talking about? 80% is a perfectly respectable average score. I guess they wanted 90%.

Honestly, if you're finding an insult in that phrase, you're really trying too hard.

I'd say it's your imagination. The second was okay, but the third (Chaos Theory) was phenomenal.

Yeah, spoken language takes precedent over written in A/An rules. Especially in the case of abbreviations, where the abbreviation BECOMES the word, regardless of what it abbreviates. "An MMOG" is correct, in this case. Same reason you'd say "AN FBI badge," even though "A federal bureau of investigation badge" is being abbreviated.

This is also why it's generally considered correct for a British person to write and say "An hospital," and incorrect for an American to do so. They (again, generally) don't pronounce the hard H, while we do.

English lesson complete!

DoD is basically a WWII themed CS mod.

Not even.

Battlefield 2 is fun as hell.
I've had no problems with bugs and the memory leak has (thankfully) not affected me.
The idea of special forces infiltration-type firefights and night missions mixed in also sounds fun as hell.

That is all.

If my time living in the UK has taught me anything, it's that Cricket is the second greatest sport on the face of the planet. Football (soccer) is, obviously, the first.

Yeah, those sales numbers kind of surprise me, since I enjoyed the second one MUCH more than I did the first. Actually, no, they don't surprise me so much as disappoint me.

Sad that the gamers themselves are supporting . . .

Sad? I'd say it's quite admirable, actually.

Yeah fair point but when you're holding a gun you know where it's pointing. You can't really fake that in a game . . .

Really? I shoot fairly regularly. Pistols and rifles. When you're holding a gun you know VAGUELY where it's pointing. You know the general area. Try firing from the hip at any kind of distance with that rifle or pointing and shooting that pistol without using the sights and you're going to be off. Guaranteed. You might be close, especially if you've done this a lot, but you won't be dead-on. And at 20 or 30 yards, "just barely off" is enough to make you miss completely.

Me? I love ironsights in games.

That said, I wasn't wowed by BiA. The squad stuff was nice, and there were some pretty memorable battles, but it got kind of stale after a while. Call of Duty, in my opinion, was the better game.

Interesting. Screens look kind of cool--except for that guy wearing NVGs in the daytime. That's just silly.
"Those are night vision goggles, they don't work during the day."
"Yeah, they kinda work."

Helicopter looks cool, though. Modern urban combat, if they don't make it all arcadey and dumb, should be kind of fun.

I absolutely loved Vietcong. I reinstalled it the other day and am loving it AGAIN. This is the best news I've seen all week!
