My feelings mirror your own. However time and experience has shown me that people are more than willing to take it up the ass. Already we have the specious logic that since _one_ other game (among how many so far in this genre?) has a single character slot that this "trend" is set in stone. "It's only a buck" cry the masses. Try applying that to everything you spend money on. You'll quickly find that there are limits to that credo. However, my gut feeling is that this is not going to catch hold. Square is doing this for the same reason Sony has one character slot in SWG. They both have mega-hot properties that they know weak-willed consumers will pay thorugh the nose for. However I've learned not to underestimate the gross stupity of people in general so only time will tell.

"think 'iron chef' meets 'jackass' meets head-to-head gaming."

Nothing spells doom quite like a retarded analogy involving programming that has fuck all to do with the subject at hand.

Of course what opinion could one expect from a population explosion with a NIcK lIkE tHIs?

Anyway...this is probably as close to Master of Magic 2 as I can dare hope for. Can't wait to snatch this up.

Almost. The difference is that you never really have the entire game on your system. That's why they tout being able to run Steam applications on any PC (a "who cares" feature as far as I'm concerned.)

...and only listen to the conservative, blue-blood, industrilaist here. Fuck liberals and fuck you too. Only a complete fucking moron would compare the SWG pricing to gas prices or bring in politics. You are both paragons of retardation. Game on.

I'll definetly be listening to what the beta testers have to say and filter out the good information from exuberent, fanboy BS. I still havn't written this game off and I can still see myself playing this ancient looking game if they managed to meet the goals they set out for themselves (unlike another beta test I won't mention...) Registered for this SG beta years ago. Hope I'm still on file.

Psst...your fanboy-ness is showing. Go outdoors and get yourself a much needed dosage of "Real Life" so you can tell the difference between a light hearted joke and a genuine attack on your precious game that you obviously spend way too much time giving a shit about.

I can't believe how many people seriously believe that. Let me clue you people in to another widget that was introduced some time ago: the compact disc. The RIAA couldn't shut the fuck up about how since it would only cost pennies in manufacturing to press a CD (as opposed to the signifigantly higher manufacturing costs of cassettes) that the savings for customers and the increase in audio quality. I'm sure games would be cheaper...for awhile. Then once the system became the standard the prices will ratchet up with press releases every few months telling you about increasing maintanence costs, poor earnings, blah blah blah. Steam is the Salad Shooter of internet technology. Just look at some of these pro's from off their website:

"They are no longer challenged to find the latest updates for these applications"

I wasn't aware downloading a patch was an epic fucking quest. For those whom which it is an epic journey, I suggest seeking out a bus to step out in front of quick...life is going to be rough for you.

Ahhh...I see. Regarding people like that I honestly have no idea. I have to believe that a percentage of these people just spit out that stuff on reflex but are in the "appreciation of idiot paradox" catagory. Of course, that means there has to be people that are in the catagory you have described. My guess is that most are kiddies and the rest are...well...total freaks and beyond my ability to rationalize...heh.

"If you guys don't like him why do you keep reading up on him?"

You can't figure it out? I'll spell it out for you. He's an interesting moron. The typical idiot with nothing going for him but the large empty space between his or her ears rapidly falls off the radar and into obscurity. Mr. Smart, however, is a paradox of retardation. We have what appears to be a reasonably intelligent person who says and does very stupid things with his characteristic aplomb in full effect. I can think he's total asshole and still find what he has to say interesting.

...this wasrad doofus couldn't trumpet enough crap about how good all the changes in the series would make the game and even a child of Taldren was crushed by it's depth of suck.

...it needs two press releases to get attention

It's not so much that it sucks (well...if you ignore the serious D3 problems some people are having and the exploits you can pull off in multiplayer) it's just that compared to it's predecessors it feels like _less_ game instead of more. If they can iron out the problems with gameplay and D3 I'm betting the license alone will make it Taldren's most profitable game ever.

wasrad...well...what can I say? Sheer, morbid curoisity drives me to know why you hated it after being it's lone, staunch defender in the other thread.

This game is very impressive, boasting a wide array of features....or at least that's what I've read on the back of the box. My CD-ROM chokes on the copy protection. Oh the irony.

Why would a faceless nobody on the Internet elicit any sort of emotion out of me? Your fragile ego may react that way but most normal people know better than to give a damn. As to your tired ass line, try and have your brain grind this out: I can't play it, and neither can anyone else, because it's not available yet. So until I can buy and play it, I can comment (hence the comment section...just spelling it out for you since you need the help) with my opinion on the game based on the information that's available. For the sake of completness, that opinion is that the game was over-simplified and switched over to the current Star Trek universe to capture two demographics: simple-minded, mass market drones with disposable income and Star Trek fans (guess what? You appear to be both.) Your opinion is a phrase that makes no sense with the game not even out yet but with comprehension seemingly a problem for you that's understandable I suppose. I can only assume your lost and can't find your way back to the Taldren forums. Since everyone else who has posted to date seems to think the same way as I do, they can continue to waste time playing the "reason with the fanboy" game since my download is finished. Try not to get too worked up over it, kid
