These work good for me and enable crossfire support in FO:NV without having to mess around with tweaks.

I got lucky a few years ago and met a woman that had played Zelda and the Sims. I introduced her to WoW and....well she's a pretty amazing disc priest. She does do a lot of research on her class.

What I've found on our server is that the peeps who are progress driven tend to quit after they've "beat the game" and disappear until new content comes out. These people are however a minority on our server. My guild is casz; come and go as you please, no rules except respect your guildies. We've all got our kingslayer titles, got our 310 protodrakes from ulduar, and now have 10/12 ICC bosses down on heroic, with sindragosa I suspect the next run. With the imminent patch and the expansion only a number of weeks away, our timing is pretty good. Having said all this, our core group is small, tight-knit, and we've known each other for over 4 years now. I also don't play everyday like I used to years ago, there are many other games that I'm into, so I don't really get tired of it.

.....I do have to admit that having a woman that plays it a lot does get me to play!

I remmber when Daggerfall first came out....lots of CTD. Their phone support was pretty good back then though....phoned them up and got a work around pretty quickly. Idk what it's like now.

After patching FO3 works just fine with win7 64 bit. The only trouble I've had with crashes lately is when I add a conflicting mod or too many NPC "buddies".

New Vegas is one of the few games I've pre-prdered this year; looking forward to it.

It's the same issue that affects some other games from late 90s when run on Windows 7. Even on the older DosBox, there was a way around it, by editing the DosBox.conf file and changing the renderer to either "Surface" or "DDraw". In any case, version 0.74 works fine in Windows 7.

This worked for me.

Great old games never die and so happy I hang on to them. I got a couple big boxes of game manuals, but it's been worth dragging them around over the years.

Current walks down memory lane: 1869, Privateer + Righteous Fire, Tie Fighter, X-Com, and Great Naval Battles NA. I also managed to get WC:Prophecy working in Win7.

But ya; doubtful EA will do the right thing.

Not surprised after my experience with Silent Hunter 5. Ubi just keeps digging that hole deeper don't they?

They treat their customers like shit so I stopped being one of their customers.

You're a fool that doesn't enjoy gaming anymore. Console gaming is superior to PC gaming, because of all those hot games coming out on console and not on PC. Case closed.

LOL! You're not serious are you?

Kids buy consoles, real nerds build their own platforms

To be honest, I'm still not figuring out what the hell all the hype is with 3d again. We did this 10 and 18ish odd years ago. And before that too, and it thrives for about a year then dies. I'll be happy when they figure out a 3d method that doesn't induce violent fits of vomiting.

I agree. This is technology from decades ago, 1950s?, re-giftwrapped and re-marketed. Same craptastic results too.

that's a bummer; I thought this was going to be like a cops and robbers mmo.

I did go the official site and was unable to find a lot of info regarding features, playstyle etc.

It does look as though they are planning on microtransactioning people to death though. RTW points that cost real money?

Sorry no sale; not enough here for my hard earned $$$$ and not about to pay more than the price of admission for a complete gaming experience.

Could you explain that a little more? I don't follow...these fixes were in and then they cut them out without saying anything or is it a wish list and they just haven't done it? Confused

=-Rigs-=

I've done some more reading and apparently some of these made it in but just aren't documented, such as the import of ships (which while there, has a host of issues if I understand correctly). Many things, like the shadows, are still borked.

There's a very insightful thread on the go at subsim's SH5 forum

It is inexcusable that the same bugs from 3 and 4, and in some cases previously fixed bugs, are still present in this game.

Then there's a list of important fixes like improved AI, shadows, the ability to import SH4 ships and more that mysteriously disappeared from the change log.

Unless I see a radical departure in support and customer service, this is my last Silent Hunter game. These guys have had years to fix big issues and they're still there.

I tried the onboard sound that came with my asus P7P55D because my Audigy is quite old now (5 years?).

It didn't take me long to put the Audigy back in. No comparison in sound quality. Thankfully Creative did release a basic win7 driver, but ya, their driver support over the years has been terrible. No driver for the game port?

(Hey; my MS Sidewinder FF joystick is like my favourite shirt or pair of sneakers )

I have heard of the Asus cards and was thinking of checking one out. Guess I'll do some reading....

....and time to get a new stick

I'm into sims and given the paucity of them the last many years it's very difficult not to buy on impulse the odd one that does comes out (for me anyway).

Keep your games but FIX ALL OF THE BUGS IN SH5 and give us the gem we can see under the surface of all that bug doo.

Nice corporate speak. How about detailing some real benefits....oh wait, there are none for the consumer?

I was going to buy Silent Hunter 5 until I found out about the DRM (due for release next month).

Some have pointed this out before and I agree: it has nothing to do with piracy and everything to do with an attempt to kill off the used game market.

The pirates will have it cracked in a jiffy. Meanwhile, I will wait until it's patched out, or it's a no sale.

With respect to PC games, around these parts they're actually cheaper. Back in the day when Daggerfall first came out ('94/'95?), it cost me a whopping $105Cdn; the most I've ever paid for a game (if you don't count the few MMOs I've played ). Most big titles were $80+

I still play both SH3 (Grey Wolves mod) and SH4 (Trigger Maru). Both awesome.

A few things I'm hoping to see fixed up: the fog, the sun shining through the sail on the view from the bridge, the "white edge" effect with AA, and the damage model.

Edit: checked out the details and indeed a lot of environmental and atmospheric improvments!
