The early access release is rough. The game is super janky. I got it on Gamepass and playing 2 hours and I really don't want to return to it. The game has no gore, no real impact sounds, there are headshot effect that's so cheap looking it's shocking. Name a feature that L4D series has of even the inferior Back 4 Blood, and this early access release will probably not have it. The explanation of course is that it's a small developer. The one positive thing that I found striking was the Flasher enemy type was cool. The Flasher makes everything super bright and blinding making it hard to find him and kill him. That's a pretty unique enemy type I haven't seen in other hoarde shooters.

If people keep paying and paying there is less incentive to finish the game. Chris created a new business model where development never ends as long as new money keeps rolling in. "Pay to develop" model. They only stop development once people stop paying.

I expect they will release something resembling what was promised, probably this decade. But as long as the money keeps coming they have no incentive to ever finish anything. The publishers are assholes but they do tend to keep things on track by demanding milestones and creating deadlines which constrain the kind of spending that Roberts is doing. I think Roberts tapped into the NFT nonsense before it was in games, he tapped into the same human psychological flaws.

The Halo series was always about the set pieces and it's a shame that Halo Infinite doesn't have that. That's got to be the biggest disappointment. That's usually the sacrifice that all the open worlds make, you end up losing variety of environment and repeat the same looking places that eventually feel generic because they become cookie cutter and not hand crafted individual levels.

What 343 did and continues to do despite some lame adjustments is show you that they are interested in heavily pushing people into paying for $20 skins and the like by having really slow shitty progression otherwise. It's the classic start really high and when you make concessions it will seem like you are being magnanimous. Don't fall for it. The progressions system was truly awful and these concessions seem bigger than they are but that's only because of where they started. There is a term in behavioral economics it's called a "reference point." It's the same thing when negotiate the person who makes the initial offer has the advantage because they are the ones who are setting a reference point and all offers subsequent to the initial offer are made around that reference point, the initial offer. Same thing here. They start with truly offer "reference point" and any concession they make will seem like a bigger concessions than it actually is.

This is how every free to play game tries to manipulate you.

I may not understand the "support for" section of these patch notes. What if I don't get these drivers and play Halo Infinite Multiplayer? I'm thinking that when they say "support for" they just mean that they did some testing with this driver and it works without issue in Halo Infinite multiplayer mode.

Nah, GPU manufacturers actually coordinate with developers to integrate game-specific optimizations into their drivers. AMD and NVIDIA both have employees dedicated to that task, along with cross-promotion and providing technical support for reviewers and other early version testers, etc. The game will still run without these optimizations, but performance or stability may be less, depending on your hardware configuration.
I see that makes sense.

By the way as of this time stamp of this post if you hit "check for updates" it doesn't show this driver yet and I have "Recommended +optional" selected for the drivers that are checked to see if there are updated version, both the recommended and optional drivers are sought, in other words.

Is playing co-op necessary to enjoy the experience? I tend to play mostly solo games these days.
To that I will repost what I said about it last week:

Each class has strengths and weaknesses that complement each other, true, but they're all capable of doing everything alone. The main difference will be in how you traverse the caverns -- Scout has a grappling hook, Gunner a zipline, Engineer places pop-up platforms, and Driller effortlessly burrows through rock. Then in solo mode, you also get a support bot that follows you around and takes orders, which is upgradable and customizable sort of like a miniature fifth class. He'll support you in combat with machine gun and rockets, mine hard to reach veins, carry some large objects, build or defend certain objectives, and revive you when you're downed. Probably two-thirds of my 150+ hours in this game have been played solo.
I have only played solo enough to do the tutorials, I have over hundred hours in co-op.

From Software just cannot make a game that can do over 60 FPS. Everyone of their games is either 30 fps or 60 fps they just don't know how to do it. It always takes some 3rd party mod maker to unlock the framerate in the game without access From Software's source code. It's embarrassing really how professional developer cannot do something with the source code that they have compared to a 3rd party PC enthusiast can do without the source code. But From Software did manage to figure out how to do variable resolutions for PC, from their earlier days, so I guess that's progress and sign of hope that maybe a few games from now they will figure out how to unlock the framerate for PC.

Locking a framerate has a lot of performance benefits, which is needed on consoles to squeeze out all the gains you can. In a variable frame rate, you need to multiply anything that moves/changes/updates by the difference in time between the frames. If you have everything locked to 60fps you can account for that in the design, and don't waste a bunch of performance on maths every single frame.

For gameplay and for multiplayer especially, you get a consistent environment.

So when someone comes and mods Bloodborne to run at 60fps, or the guy that saved Dark Souls with his patch and unlocked it to 60fps on PC, you had a bunch of bugs. Such as sliding down a ladder would sometimes send you sliding through the floor, because collision detection didn't occur as you and everything else in the game is moving twice the speed of the collision checks.

Would I like a 120fps or 144hz mode? Hell yes. PC's are easily powerful enough. But it won't happen officially, because it would be a tone of work to rewrite everything to work properly.
And yet so many other so called AAA game developers have figured out how to release a game on consoles for 30/60 fps and have an unlocked frame rate for the same game on PC.

They deliberately choose their FPS target, it's not a question of ability.
Virtually ever PC game has unlocked framerate yet you let them off the hook because they "choose their FPS target." They keep choosing poorly putting in limitations that virtually no other PC games have and certainly not "AAA" releases. I have had enough of shitty lazy design technical design decisions from From Software.

Bethesda has sold 50M+ copies of beloved AAA games with engine-level 60fps limits, lol... You can of course feel free to be irrationally irritated by it, but designing a game for a specific framerate is not inherently lazy or shitty.
A few Bethesda games out of hundreds of AAA games that don't have 60 FPS limits. Yes, I have a PC with good graphics card which I spent good money on to play at more than 60 FPS on a frame syncing monitor, and I'm irrational for wishing to do so on a platform where 95% of all the other games run at higher than 60 FPS. How irrational of me. Clearly I'm an entitled spoiled bastard for asking too much from From Software.
