im sure there are places where lights do have the UT2003/doom 3 lighting effects - but shadows caused by static objects (like walls) dont seem to cast shadows on models.
Although special lights seem to cast shadows/direct light. This is apparent in the klieners lab video - with the light from the monitor projected onto his chest.
This seems completely seperate from world lighting though. Which as a pro makes the game faster.. as a con isnt doom 3.
One other thing i don't like (not only in hl2, but every game ever made) is how when their shadow is half in the shade and half in the sun it still casts a shadow in the shade.
This is probably hard to prevent but it still annoys me. Not annoys me to the point of "this game is unplayable", annoys me more like "it would be nice to see someone try to fix that"
