well said, San Fran would be awesome, with the counter-culture and all those filthy hippies, beatnicks, dopers, black panthers, run of the mill underworld types, etc, etc.

And they should really come up with some ideas for using money. Perhaps the ability to hire or purchase thugs ala Kingpin, but that would require working in some additional ai.

thank god it won't be las vegas.

There was a rumor going about that the next game would be roughtly based upon San Andreas which isn't too far from San Fran. Cool... I wonder if it'll be based in the 60s with the counterculture stuff thrown in.

and having multiple cities would be a great idea. Just go to the local airport and make your way to some tropical local, etc.

I am not going to bother argueing with you, people apparently play these games for different reasons, some for the story and freeform violence, others for the enviornment and yet others for a combination of reasons. I find the enviornment in VC bland, period - in contrast to GTA3 and the originals. If SC is going to be based on Las Vegas, it will be the same - for me at least.

I recommend you reinstall the original if you think each place didn't have its distinct appearance/personality. Compare the Yakuza district to the Italian district to the industrial district. Whether it was sprite based/top down doesn't detract from it, and stating it looked like shit means you must have had your eyes glazed over. I could spend plenty of time just crusing through the city investigating new areas, lighting effects were top notch too, at least for the time.

And stop disagreeing for the sake of disagreeing, it makes you look like a bitch.

you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills me boy, perhaps a break from the videogames should be at hand. GTA3 and VC are iterations of the same games that were released back in 97, the difference being that they are now based in a 3D world. The cities had their districts that varied greatly from one another in terms of their contents and appearance. The same can't be said of VC, and I doubt of Sin City.

theres nothing to argue about

There was nothing about Liberty city that made it strictly inspired by nyc. It was more likely inspired by a conglomeration of eastern seaboard cities - specifically new york and boston.

They do. It's called Midnight Club.
GTA isn't a racing game.

Heheh, you've given yourself away for another kid weened on 3D who has never played the original grand theft autos. Each of the originals had a city that was made up of distinct neighborhoods with distinct styling and character.
By comparison VC was a sandbox with grey concrete buildings scattered through out.

I myself also prefer the styling of the original GTA3. Character and style...

just because they had a chinatown and little italy in gta3 doesn't mean it was new york. And as a matter of fact I was in boston last weekend, city is full of great sites, landmarks and neighborhoods. It would sure as hell beat another tropical city, especially Las Vegas. I can't stand that fucking city, if you can call it that. Its no more than a disney land for adults, all facade with no substance whats so ever.

The point is that rockstar should pick up on GTA3 in introducing cities that are more diverse. Cities that are actually interesting to travel through.

This isn't gta4 btw, its still going to be built on the same engine as the previous two.

vice city, sin city, what the fcuk?!

Its definitely time for a change, something more dank and dark. Fun in the sun probably sells more, but its too childish and cliche. Seattle, New York, Boston, Detroit, for christ sake Chicago would be great.

First off, Atari isn't a stolen name, it was purchased.

Secondly, Ridley Scott has proven himself to be a talented director and before that was a successful ad producer. What I'm trying to say is expect something interesting. This is no different from a Superbowl Ad or the shorts that BMW has released. Watching this 'short film' doesn't obligate you to buy the game, just as watching the BMW flicks doesn't obligate you to buy one of their cars.

Get over it people...

doubt this dipshit would be saying the same nonsense had the 'little boy' had been his son.

These games aren't made for kids, thats why they have mature ratings. Society has already gone this far, going any farther by doing something like 'banning' violent games is infringing on the rights of others.

NY Post is a rag paper anyway...

this is all nitpicking, smoke no smoke, bulky jetpacks, etc.

T2 never fully took off because of the problems with bugs and stability. But considering when it was released it was a major breakthrough allowing players to traverse huge maps instead of limiting them to small areas.

This game is looking great imho. They are taking full advantage of the unreal engine and doing a beautiful job, speckling the land with grass, trees, ground textures that vary from green lawns to granite outcropings. Its looking beautiful, and when you read those previews you can see the game will have substance and keep a crowd. Unfortunately these expanded maps won't be a novelty anymore, but the jetpacks and story sure will be!

Good god I can't believe I'm reading this.

Mr. Smart, as a developer of a game that on the verge of hitting gold don't you have more important business to take care of than crusing forums and engaging in childish flames?

Don't you understand that when you bother to respond (not to mention sarcastically, rudely and unprofessionaly) to the complaints of people whose major pasttime is playing computer games, you are going to lose no matter how eloquent (or otherwise) your response is.

I think this goes to show how much work YOU PERSONALLY put into this game. So what is it, do you outsource to Eastern Europe/Far East, because its sure as hell clear that you barely put any work into it. Otherwise you wouldn't be wasting your and others people time here. And by the way, if you do have free time why the fuck would you want to spend it arguing over nothing (your posts are evidence of this)? I recommend you spend some of your easy earned money on a shrink and an expensive hobby.

I'm guessing that one part of the game will play on the islands/jungles fighting Mercs and in the following part of the game you will be 'advancing' to fight monsters/cyborgs in the labs in which they were developed.

There's nothing wrong with this kind of progression. As a story it runs smoothly and its an adaptation of a classic Joseph Conrad novel.

As great as the physics, graphics and overall atmosphere is, the game needs a plot, this one works well.

hey that was awesome.

Great physics/interactivity, nice openendedness (can play with different approaches), beautiful graphics... the list goes on.

There was a slight spoiler at the end, ala Island of Dr. Murrough/Wolf3D. Nice way of paying homage to grandad.
