Your whole post from the beginning till the end doesn't make much sense......

Why would some one want to remove bullet impacts on the water-surface and leave them in for the ground-surface.. I don't know about you but I have 95 % of my small arms firefights on the land...

And if those feature removals where done to speed up things and remove lag, why hasn't it been mentioned at the patch readme feature list ?

Why cutting a whole feature out if it could be left optional, so ppl with slow internet connections and low computer hardware could just turn it off, whereas ppl like me who would like to invest their extra fps into more beauty could leave it on ?

The 1.2 patch didn't fix the following issues: There are still no watersplashes from small arms bullets and the trees are still not casting shadows on vehicles/players/viewweapons....

I think it really is time to see what they actually changed to disable those things..........

For me this is not a small but a very BIG issue...... I mean leaving tree shadows and water splashes optional should be the way to go.... For gfx geeks like me it's just a crime to brutally disable those features..... I mean common guys, this takes all the cool atmosphere away.....

Seems like the guys at www.doom3maps.org have some bandwidth problems... I would be happy for any support (mirroring the file) and will upload the file myself to anyone willing to host the file....

I have to admit that I only watched the movie version and did not run it in realtime on my pc... But the stuff that I saw just didn't make me want to install the demo.....

And to all those "doom³ can only do dark small corridors" people....

Here is something I am working at the moment and you can clearly see how powerfull the doom³-engine can be even at huge outdoor-scenes.....

This pretty much remembers me when when Quake 3 was shown first and then later released .... The first ideas are usually always the best..... when they showed quake 3 on macworld it seemed to have so much potential ... After its release I was pretty much disappointed... They kinda screwed it form the design point of view .....

Seems as the same thing is happening with DOOM³..... The Alpha looks so much better than those 2 new screenshots. I checked the high resolution-versions of them and it seems as id again changed the design of the players. The armor looks alot more "shiny" and "fancy" and seems to be less "normal-mapped".

Compare the E3 version player with the Mulitplayer guy for yourself here then you'll know what I am talking about ....

http://520083573508-0001.bei.t-online.de/blues/doom3m1.jpg

And then there is this extreme red in the level where everything seems to be colored and fancy again. This is not compareable to the E3 version !

I just hope this is not going to be final...

Well guys I totally agree with #1 ... Back in time Doom really started to get interesting when I played it in coop-mode ... I mean I am aware of the scripting difficulties but damn, the first thing that got into my mind when i saw Doom 3 in action was : "Damn that must rock in coop-mode!!!" It's this "we are in this shit together so lets work as a team" thing that makes the thrill.... So let's do a petition or something and maybe ID will overthink its decision or will release a "coop-Addon" after the release of Doom 3.
