Maybe they will actually listen to the fans and make modding, mapping and dedicated servers a high priority. If they don't develop the game with these features in mind, it will be much harder to add later.

Like others have said, it's gone the way of the console. Plays nothing at all like the first two.

Very disappointed with this demo. I was a huge fan of both DS1 and DS2. The game was fun the way it was, why fix something that isn't broke?

Tribes is the best game I've ever played. I still play tribes mods team rabbit and team rabbit 2 to this day.

Whatever comes from garage games, the future looks bright for tribes.

If you haven't played it, get tribes for free join some base servers and get the feel for the game now so you have a shot at being good when the next gen game comes out.

Get it free, fully configured here:

Same developer same publisher same engine.

Tribes:V was first and being first it had the most bugs. The game was missing features out of the box, the dedicated server was BETA. The SDK was broken.

Tribes players have very high standards and both Irrational and VUG knew this. They dropped the ball.

However, SWAT4 is pretty cool and was fairly solid out of the box. You guys are lucky your game was made second.

If these are the closed beta files, then they are useless unless you have a cd-key.

lol, did you buy a 1 month subscription?

I think I'll wait til it shows up on FP but I'll definitely pay to get in the beta early.

"you have an indefinite amount of time after the game is released to make gameplay tweaks. obviously you don't need to fix everything in beta."

Making gameplay tweaks after full release is something that should be avoided at all costs. It causes far too much commotion. Especially in the Tribes community.

Supposedly there are texture updates for the game that make it look almost as good as T2. I'm not sure where to find them though.

They do seem to be heading the right way. Some of the guys developing the game are real big gamers themselves and that's why I think they know what they are doing.

Tribes 2 did finally turn out to be a great game. I expect T:V will do the same, especially now that a member of the tribes community is one of the lead multiplayer programmers. And is in constant contact with the current community.

I still play Tribes 2 every single day. I've said it before and I'll say it again, once you go jetpack, you'll never go back.

Tribes has no limit on how good you can get. I can jump into any other fps game and come out on the top spot after a few hours. Tribes takes weeks even months to master. Which in my opinion is what makes it a great experience.

If you want a game that is not p2p and does not get old fast, Tribes is for you. But don't expect to be good at it your first week.
