No, you've got it all wrong. The Shacknews staff had a problem with exclusive DEMOS. The reasoning was that your demo is supposed to show off your game to a maximum number of people. Restricting the distribution of a DEMO by making it exclusive is what makes no sense.

There's nothing wrong with exclusive betas, such as the ones often offered on Fileplanet. These require a smaller testing group and it makes sense to release them to a limited number of people first.

"this demo is awesome! reminds me of planescape torment..." - Dr. Del

Care to expand on that a bit? I personally think Planescape: Torment is one of the best game ever created... I actually spent 80 hours in 7-9 days straight on it. Unequaled to this day...

The decision to push back the release of CHROME was based on player feedback from the recent beta test. “We’ve decided that a couple more months of dev time would allow us to polish and include more multiplayer content that players have asked for, so we had no choice but to push it back. After all the games we make are for them!”

This guy is my new hero. Finally, someone understands!!

THE game to watch this Holiday season? Ha! With titles such as Doom 3, Half Life 2, Deus Ex 2 and Thief 3 coming out, isn't that a little presumptuous?

That being said, the first two Prince of Persia games were awesome.

The screenshots don't do this game (XIII) justice. I watched a gameplay movie a few months ago, and the game looks amazing in motion.

Actually, it's not a new demo. It's not even a new game. It's the same demo that was made for last year's game. It just hasn't been properly released in the States yet.

Keep in mind also that most gamers buy AMD processors because they offer performance equal to the Intel chips and are a lot cheaper. There are more people in the forums complaining about problems with an AMD processor, because there are more people with an AMD processor who bought the game. If you look at the benchmarks, you will see that there is very little difference in performance between AMD and Intel processors. Unreal 2 simply requires a beast of a machine to play smoothly.

Hopefully they want to release a demo before that so people have a chance to play it before it comes in stores. It would make sense that during the next 2 weeks they will work on releasing the demo, even though the game is gold a demo can take some time to create.

I still play it quite often, it's just a lot of fun. I was totally hooked on the demo, I couldnt stop playing it. I was short on cash so I thought I could never buy the full game, but my roommate ended up buying it for me. The full game is as good, actually even better than the demo in multiplayer. I thought SP left a lot to be desired at some points, but who cares. The multiplayer is really awesome, and they are still adding more content regularly. I highly recommend you pick it up.

What is it with all the "Sierra sucks since Vivendi bought it" posts?

Vivendi bought 30% of Havas Interactive, the parent of Sierra, in 1997 and purchase was completed in 1998.

Let's see, games that came out since then...
Half Life, Alien vs Predators, No One Lives Forever, Empire Earth, Tribes, Homeworld, Gabriel Knight 3, Arcanum, Caeasar 3, Ground Control...

So what the fuck is wrong with you people? I swear, PC gamers can be such a whiny little bunch.

comics in Europe have nothing to do with the stuff we get here in the US. It's not about super-heroes or that kind of crap. I actually read the entire XIII saga, and they are some of the most exciting books I have read, and the scenario just kicks ass... you wait and see

Chris stopped working on the project like a year ago... Personally that's when I knew the game would never be as good as it was supposed to be in the first place.

Stop bitching about the fact that you couldn't find the monthly fee for the game. If you're too dumb to look in the FAQ in the first place, you can't complain.

Now, there is a very positive review of the game at Firingsquad:
