Personally I have enjoyed every Myst-related title, given I seem to have a little more love for Cyan's own developed games.

I can never understand how so many gamers seem to _hate_ (not just "not care for") the series. You would think that Myst molested them as a child or something. There's just so MUCH negativity. In every post on any gaming news site with the word "Myst" in it, there's a 1:1 ratio of positive and negative, and the negative are pure flames most of the time(in my experience).

In every *other* game post, its mostly positive comments... bizarre.

You know they have this wonderful new invention called window blinds, or even walls. It really is possible for it to be dark inside.

Some of us don't want to drape giant black sheets over window shading that doesn't black-out a room.

But you get the idea

Same boat as you -- Doom 3 just isn't the same in the daytime.

Demo looks good! The graphics are a must-see.

On the contrary, the expansion was full of content that was totally new to players that had not seen the online portion, however I will forever be irked by some of the gameplay mechanics Cyan chose for it (i.e. marker hunts).

As for TPOTS, there seems to be many new *fixed* animations and avatar abilities in this new expansion. I really think it will live up to fan expectations, and we'll finally see "new" content (there hasn't been a new age since the game's release, save more areas in the city). I think thats better than anyone could hope for, considering the cancellation and the price of the expack ($20!).

Wow this is some kind of cruel joke -- two of the most anticipated games get jacked within a year of each other... What a crazy world we live in, but someone should have been watching that machine like a hawk. Conspiracy to prolong the game's dev time? Hmmm...

Tomorrow's Sony Announcement: "MGS3 has been delayed... until summer of next year probably, while we 're-write the code.'"

It seems that shipping errors are becoming pretty common with PC games. Ubisoft has made some serious blunders (especially both of the CD Key fiascos in Australia) and it seems either A) whoever is putting the copy protection on new CD's (developer? publisher?) is neglecting to test it first or B) the devs neglect to make sure that their game works the way its supposed to before shipping...

Other errors are also creepy, case in point Pandora Tomorrow's MP launch bugs across both platforms. Are they neglecting testing or are they really shipping unfinished/unpolished/slightly buggy products to meet deadlines? It's interesting how a game can lose face by a simple problem like this.

Heh, trolls are funny.

Anyway, the fourth installment is looking mighty fine so far. Here's hoping that Ubi Montreal (who is dev-ing the game, NOT Cyan Worlds -- this could be an excellent sign seeing their recent track record) doesn't have a media blowout like Myst 3 did. Let's not solve a puzzle before the game is released again, eh?

There's always a few. Why not explain why you don't like the game and stop trying to just be funny?

Ubisoft had troubles shipping Uru on time with the free DVD edition of the original trilogy -- the second arrived late to their warehouses, delaying the preorder deal (uru+DVDed) shipments. Monday isn't too long to wait

The game is done and ready to go online (The Prologue, Live officially starts early next year hopefully) -- its just that everyone who preordered from Ubi hasn't recieved it yet, so they want to be fair.

I'm not exactly itching with anticipation (ok maybe a bit) - I can wait. It's just odd that its all over the place as "download Steam now and watch the trailer!" Kind of misleading, you know?

How exactly do you download the HL2 trailer (hoping its higher quality than the steady-cam ones I've seen) from Steam? I haven't a clue.

Actually I think it is quite the opposite. They believe (as do many) that the game will be a sure-fire hit, and seeing its popularity, it just might be that, whether or not its "good" (hey, Enter The Matrix did it). So they jack up the price to increase profit, and to meet demand. Ah... economics.

And for the record, I did note the bit of sarcasm there

I hardly see how taking a crap in the already overflowing toilet that is MMORPG's is something 'new and innovating'. Does it contain peanuts perhaps?

re: Have you played SWG or are you just saying shit to piss people off (which would make you a troll)?

I thought it was pretty funny myself.

you can use ghosts you get later in the game in earlier missions.. replay the mission from the high scares pumpkin or whatever from the level select screen

Hm.. then it doesn't work in the earlier levels - I've tried using new ghosts (i.e. Harriet) in older levels (through High Scares) - no go. New ghosts don't show up in the ghost selection screen for older levels. Is there something I'm missing?

EDIT: Yeah, it seems I can use a couple different ghosts in previous levels, but they are not all available. Slowdown must have been the case of overheating, because I didn't see any when I turned my fans up Good to know

I have the game Jun 12, 2003, 18:17

Its the UK version, runs really well... except for slowdown in the cruise ship mission, and some in the hospital mission mentioned.. and I like to think I have a "high end" computer. Puh! Its tons of fun, but there are bugs that could make a few levels frustrating, and force you to start the mission over (thats right, no mid-mission saves!).
Its a bummer, but those factors don't hinder what the gameplay is all about - its a lot of fun. Trying to get every ghost in the game is a challenge, and I'm hoping that the patch that should be released at the end of June will carry over in the retail US version. Hopefully it wil fix the fps problem as well as allow you to use new ghosts in older missions (replayability would rule if they made this happen - the game LOOKS like it supports it, but it doesn't seem to be there). Once you get past the tutorial, accents in the game are non-existant.

Overall I'm having a lot of fun with it so far - plenty of evil laughs from me while scaring the bejeezus out of hapless mortals - mwa ha ha!

Sorry for the huge post
