Call me old-fashioned but I ws surpised that I didn't take to the demo. I was a huge fan of the original, all the mods, and the many custom-levels, and liked such weapons as the spinning discs, because they created variation in game-play. Not just spam...if you were down to lousy weapons, you could set yourself up in a hallway etc, while you regrouped. Equally, if you were going after someone who was using them, you had to be careful and plan accordingly. I'd say they added more variation, not less. The RL seems positively dull with 3 rockets...half the fun of having 6 was that you could chase someone while loading them up, knowing that you had a limited time to let them off, and not take yourself out in the process. Good fun. Also, allowed more scope for leading. This all added up to good gameplay.

On a different tack, I don't like the increase in player speeds...just too frenetic with no obvious need to warrant the change. Twitch-tastic, you might say. Aimed at younger players - no disrespect meant.

What's with this uniform chunky-character model-anime-humdrum-stock-sci-fi armour look? It now seems ubiquitous, from Halo to UT2k3 to Ghost. Derived mainly from comic books I suspect. Great for fans of comic books, juvenile for those of us who find it all a bit repetitive and childish. I don't expect models based on Othello or Desdemona or Hildegard, but some alternative to Saturday-morning style television characters would be welcomed. And yes, I've seen the alternative models. All standard-issue MTV junk-food fare (this applies to ID also)

BTW, what happened to the supposed bump-mapping? Specular highlights, yes, but...
