I am not an Army expert by any means but do the Special Forces really go tearing through towns in tanks and jeeps? I thought they were more of a sneak up and kill you kind of group which is more like how the game is designed.

I agree that zipping around in vehicles would make this more like Battlefield which would require a lot of weapon balance changes.

I consider milking a product as one where you keep charging for basic content additions that should be mods in an attempt to make the product seem new.... aka an EA Games Expansion.

Creating an update to a product and not charging for it is just a way to make fans happy as well as get people to either buy the game if they haven't already or bring them back into it. Besides, it does nothing but help keep intrest alive before the sequel comes out.

I think I can already guess the answer to this but I wonder if this works with x800 series cards. Half-Life 2 can seem to do HDR with an X800....

I liked the sounds of the "only the driver of the vehicle gets capture points" when I first read it but now I am thinking it may hamper the game. Think about it. A fully loaded helicopter comes into a base with a good pilot. The two side gunners are taking out the defenses and one or two other guys are shooting out the back. Normally they would all get points. Now everyone is going to be bailing out of vehicles just to get points leaving the pilot (or driver for that matter) stuck. Especially if it is in a vehicle where the driver can't really do anything offensive like shooting at people who are trying to kill him. I guess we will have to see how it plays out but it sounds like it could have a negative effect. Ok maybe for helos but for tanks and jeeps it is going to suck when your gunner who can look around much faster than you jumps out just to get a point.

I have an ATI x800 XT PE and I also have never had an issue running a game out of the box with the latest drivers at the time. Even back as far as my original ATI Radeon 64. I currently use the 5.6 drivers for BF2 and it runs great.

I just love how this game is a "The way its meant... blah blah" and it doesn't even work with the latest nVidia drivers at all. How can a set of drivers be that different in how they work especially only one version different.

I have also enjoyed how UT2004 is also one of thoes "The way..." games and it runs best on an ATI card. In my experience, I have found that nVidia games run better than ATI only in OpenGL based engines like the Doom and Quake ones.

Falcon 4 was what sim buffs call a "Study Sim". It was as realistic as possible including every non classified piece of information they could render. Most sims out today are just arcade games. Hardly a true "Sim" at all.

I always laughed at friends when they would come over and ask if they could just fly around an try shooting stuff. I flew a ton of missions where I never fired a shot. I know that kind of sounds boring but if you could remember all the controls it really felt like you were part of an actual battle. I mean if you think about it, I am sure every time one of our planes go up they never fire a shot either.

Sounds more like Sony released EQ too quick in order to beat WoW and now they are adding in the content they probably wanted to have from the begining. The marketing guys eyes lit up and said "Why dont we just charge for it now?".

All it will take to show how dumb this is is for Blizzard to release a "content" pack for free.

Why does Steam always have to be restarted whenever there is an update or patch? Doesn't this kind of defeat the purpose of what it was intended to do? What is the point of it if it doesn't automatically update things when they are available? It would be nice if when I got home from work, the patches would already be applied rather than me having to now wait to get them. Basically it is just a tool that launches games from one location. Gee, I have the Start Bar for that.

But that's just it--I *played* the original. This is just the original updated with purty graphics, right? Why should I be excited?

So was Doom3, or almost any FPS for that matter, but that received a ton of hype. FPS games, while they do gain a nice graphics update with each release are all basically the same from a gameplay perspective and we all still play them. HL2 is just HL1 with better graphics and physics.

The gamepay of Pirates is just what made the game so good. They shouldn't change that part one bit! I tried to play the original a while back but the graphics and DOS look of it all turned me away. Really hoping the new one captures all the exact same gameplay but with a new engine, delivers just what the game needed in a sequel. It will be a nice break from FPS games.

Who recognizes this? What review out there has this in it? Oh, the Vice President of Marketing at Atari says this...ah.

So she recognized it as such. Wow, so it's kinda lucky she's also marketing it too! What a lucky gal!

Anyone who played computer games over 20 years ago would remember just how awesome the original was. The original Pirates was rated #3 in a list of greatest games EVER created.

http://pc.ign.com/articles/082/082403p1.html

Stick to your modern games buddy. If you ever played the original you would think it was also one of the greatest ever created.

Its been out for 3 years and you have never read about what it offers and what it can do? Sit down at the internet and read up. Microsoft will release a new OS every 4-5 years but they support up to 2 versions back. If you include 2000 and ME then guess what, 98 is too old. Using more resources doesn't automatically make it better, it uses more resources BECAUSE it is better.

Not being suported by Microsoft is a huge deal. If there are issues with the game under 98, Microsoft wont provide support. If a certain 98 driver is causing issues, Microsoft again will not work with providers to fix the issues. You have to build for the latest thing out there and leave the old stuff behind. Its called progression.

Eventually you just have to upgrade. An OS isn't something like pixel shading 2.0 or 3.0, or the latest bump mapping code. Its the guts of what runs our software. Eventually things are tailored to use the best thing out there and currently XP is it.

Time to weed out the true gamers!!!!!!

Funny how we will spend upwards of $400 to get a video card capable of playing this game but not an OS.

XP is superior in every way to 98. Sure it uses more resources because its better. 98 uses more resources than DOS... why.... because it is better.

Take $99 and buy a new OS. You are going to have to eventually, face it. Or you could get a MAC if you don't like the MS Monopoly. Now go close down your Microsoft Internet Explorer browser, type a letter with Microsoft Outlook and send it to someone who cares at ID. When your done, go buy the game for your Microsoft Xbox so you can play it.

Just once I would like a game developer to play through their game completely with each of the 4 or so major video cards on the market. Its called QA and missing a show stopping but in the first 2 min with one of the most popular video cards on the market is just unacceptable.

I understand lockups, graphic issues, and other items are hard to track down due to sooooo may different system configurations but when a bug like this happens in the first two min just because you have a certain card in your system just goes to show you it was never even tested with that card at all.

Why do people put their system information for a Signature? Is it just me or is that the silliest thing ever? I suppose I should put the dimensions of my house and all the mods to my Supra in mine. LOOK AT ME!! Did I mention I have two gigs of PC 3200 and a Geforce4 5900? My power supply is 500 Watt and I have two hard drives too. I even got a floppy drive so there!

People basically do this so that when they post about how good/bad a game works for them people can see what they are running it on. Also its handy if you are having a problem you think may be related to a specific hardware issue and you can look for others who have close to the same parts in their machine and ask them if they have the same issue. If I said this game ran great on my machine people can see what I am running it on. Unfortunatly I don't like arcade sims so I haven't tried it!

I agree it looks kinda strange in most posts where people are just replying to stuff so maybe they should add the ability to pick which sig you want to use, A system spec one or a general one.

Bring on Falcon 5.0!!!!! I love Study Sims!
