Hmmm... wouldn't just a larger, well lit single screen accomplish the same purpose, easier and cheaper?

I tend to agree with the "Virtual Boy II" comment from the press release... doesn't sound like a promising idea.

On the other hand, if changing cartridges involves disassembling the device and it costs over $400... well I'm in!

Taking a character out that you've built up over time into a "real" pvp fight is so exciting... it's the only thing that kept me playing DAOC for as long as I did.

L2 seems to be doing great in Korea so far, and I know from first hand experience Guild Wars is gonna rock. The new visuals in that game just own.

I'm not sure why none of the latest MMO creator's don't see a market for a PvP based MMO

Some do...

Time to get back to the future. Gimme' FO3 or some other post-apocalyptic setting.

Music to my ears. I couldn't agree more...

*raises riot shield*

Seriously, it's got room to grow but I just casually realized the last 4 of 5 console games I've played intently were all xbox. Granted, they could have been played on PS2, but Live is pretty fun (and relatively painless).

If you want the straight dope on homeopathy, naturopathy, and so called alternative medicine such as chiropractic, (as well as great deconstructionist info on UFOs, psychics, and other scams) check out http://www.skeptic.com.

Tidbit: One of Homeopathy's basic premises is the Law of Infinitesmals (sp?)... basically, the more you dilute a substance the more effective it becomes. This directly conflicts with scientific fact.

Still here, and so is Jumpgate

The next project is Auto Assault, NCSoft is publishing it. Look for more info in the coming months. Not to self-pimp, but it's getting pretty cool... with an actual publisher behind the title, we can actually afford a development team this time (as opposed to the 3 guys who made Jumpgate on a shoestring).

Of course, can't say much about Auto Assault until NC opens the curtains, but if you are waiting for da boom-boom action to hit the MMO scene, this is gonna be a fun, fast-paced game.

Hopefully a lot of people are hungry for this kind of online game. I know I am, anyway... We'll see what everyone else thinks in the next few months.

Definite thumbs up, at least on xbox. I played magic about twice, many years ago. It was intriguing then but like most pen&paper/tabletop/card games, there was too much annoying maintenance. Maybe I'm just an adrenaline junkie, but taking this franchise to the digital world in an action setting finally made it really fun for me.

One word of advice, watch out for the green trample/giant growth combo online. It's an easy tactic that can overpower quickly, seems to be dominating the xbox live rankings right now, although it can be defeated.

Only 2 downsides imo:
- having to play the quest to unlock cards for online.
- repetitive load times seem silly for how little is in a game scene.

Really, Warcraft III? A cartoon fantasy game is #9 on the too "killographic" for kids list? That's just silly.

On another note, I think Rockstar knows how to milk the right-wing for free advertising like no one in history. I've been counting the days until the Manhunt firestorm begins... Oprah, Donahue, 20/20... Mo money mo money mo money!

Human nature: "Don't!" == "Do It Now!"

I can't believe Neo is Trinity... oops, was that a spoiler?

I just came from the movie on IMAX. My first impressions are:
1- Best sci-fi battle sequences. Ever. By a mile. It is worth seeing for that alone.
2- I must someday own an APU. (that's A-P-U not ah-poo of the simpsons)
3- Not entirely happy with the ending and the tone, but I can see why they did it that way. Let me just say "I BELIEVE, I will see it again" because I choose to. Actually, more because my wife still hasn't seen it. So wait, does that mean I chose to or not? I'll buy a vowel, i'd like the 'Y', I don't want to come to the french man without the Y! I'm so confused!

I like that acronym

I remember seeing a banner ad for just such an engine, VoodooV. Can't remember the name, but it's out there, although it was probably for commercial license, not personal use.

Also, the reason you're not seeing lots of homemade entries is due to the considerable cost and time associated with making a persistent world using modern 3D graphics. An all text MUD back in the day, you could have done as a side project in a month. I also think that's why you see a lot of text-heavy MMOGs, it takes a lot of effort to put a graphical touch to information.
