It's the fake documentary show on BBCA... that is one of the funniest shows I have seen in a long long time. It keeps getting funnier when you rewatch it because you can understand the thick English accents a little more each time.

Why the hell do I care if a game world has 50 billion square miles of space if it's empty with nothing to do? Give me 5 square miles with ton of stuff to do and you have me hooked.

The market for online games is not dried up. The problem is that for the most part, the current offerings out there don't provide a better experience than what you can get "offline" or in non-persistent online games, not to mention cannabalizing the same themes mostly. For some reason, the bar is lower in today's MMOs...

Not to worry, the bar will be raising soon. Guild Wars, City of Heroes, WoW... who knows, maybe there will even be some kind of post-apocalyptic vehicular combat game coming out soon. Wouldn't that be neato?

The big plusses of MMOs (as anyone who's given them a thorough try can tell you) are
- typically better connectivity than player-hosted server games (ala most FPS games)
- ongoing content development (just look where EQ and Lineage started and where they are now)
- overwhelming community support and fansites (in most successful MMOs)

Once the polish and gameplay catches up to the mainstream consumer expectations, I think you'll see these games start to take off. Let's face it... 10 bucks a month is diddly squat. I pay 30 for my cell phone and use it about 1/20th of the time I play games.

It's funny, I thought the same thing when I saw the title. I loved that game! Sidescroller space ship action, with the dizzying vertical and diagonal drops. The only thing that came close was maybe River Raid.

Quad in the middle, BFG underwater... seems like only yesterday. Those were the days weren't they?

The demo was fantastico, can't wait for tons of new levels in both Onslaught and A&D.

As a side note, I'm amazed that 10 or even 20 bucks can stop you from buying any game. 10 bucks is lunch! 10 bucks is a crappy 90 minute movie! This is 2004 not 1904 right? Last I checked, all my wooden nickels don't buy shit.

That's exactly the issue at stake, in all of this mess. You may not approve of other people's ideas of fun, love, or entertainment, but it does not give you the right to stop them or control them (provided we are talking about consenting adults).

Everyone should be allowed to do whatever makes them happy, provided it's not "causing unhappy" to someone else.

Just for kicks, why is marriage only about a man and woman having kids? I'd agree if we didn't have legal definitions, marriage also means tax implications and insurance benefits, inheritance issues, etc. I believe this is the issue homosexuals are fighting over, and I think they should have it.

I totally agree with Tony!!! on the change the channel point (not so much on gay marriage but to each his own). It's a free country, if you don't like it, change the channel. As for all those comments about kids getting exposed to "indecent" (whatever that means) materials, I got news for the religious right... I learned more bad words, bad behavior, and sexual innuendo from going to church and boy scouts than I ever did from TV or radio.

We got most of our office into the onslaught and A&D maps, about 20 some odd people and had a blast Friday evening. Say what you want, it's still one of the best multiplayer FPS options to come along in a long while.

Can't wait to see some other Assault maps, I LOVE that level!

Ultras, there are a few developers that agree with you. Ever heard of Auto Assault, a vehicular combat MMO set in a post-apocalyptic theme? It was announced only once in a press release years ago under the name Wreckage. If not, keep your eyes peeled in the next few months leading up to E3. I have a feeling it will be up your alley.

Actually, we used to play all the post-release Starcraft maps on LAN games all the time, just not on battle.net. Although you might have a point, since the WC3 ladder system is considerably cooler than the SC/WC2 ladder, pretty much everyone just plays on battle.net.
