... PlanetMoon is my idol. They understand what games are all about. Giants: Citizen Kabuto was a blast, this sounds like another great game along the same lines of comedy and fun.

I loved Kohan and it's expansion. I just fired it up for old times sake and it's still a blast. Glad they're bringing it to 3D.

If you never tried it and you'd like a different twist on RTS, give it a shot.

I am also having a lot of fun with PS. It's refreshing... not overly complicated, easy to hop in and have fun for an hour or two, and the servers are actually pretty tight from what I've seen so far. IMHO, easily worth the price of admission so far... i'm also VS on Markov, our team ownzors!

I used to think the same way, that is "no way am I paying a monthly fee to play a game". Then I tried a couple for kicks (DAOC held my interest and cash the longest), and it's funny I don't care anymore. When you think about it, 13 bucks is less than seeing a movie if you so much as buy a pop to drink with it. That's 2 hours of entertainment, vs. how many hours do you play your favorite game a month? 10, 20 40? I know some people that play over 150 hours a month in some games, so clearly it's cost effective entertainment for them.

I do think it's a bit silly to charge a full retail price for a subscription game, simply because the publisher is discouraging potential long term subscribers from ever even trying their product. And in some places, like Korea, you can go pay a cheap hourly fee at a cafe and try out lots of games, a much better way of doing things I think.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to Planetside because I'd like to see how they tackle FPS in a persistent world, at least it's something different right? And as far as I know, Advanced Dessert Cooking is not a skill in it...

permadeath = bad. Death penalties have been my number one reason for quitting every single MMO to date. It's frustration, simple as that. Why am I going to play a game that slaps me in the face instead of rewarding me?

No religion bashing intended, but a lot of OSC's later work has tended toward subversive Mormon religion disguised as sci-fi... I could see this going the same way.

Although ... Ender's Game is one of my favorite books of all time and I really wish they'd do a movie

... *someone* would make a game outside fantasy hack and slash, something with aliens, nukes, and transforming vehicles, a game where you could blow stuff up and knock stuff over... a game where the men are men and the mutants are mutants! If only... tee hee hee!

... as a joke and it proved to be just that. I was hoping for Leisure Suit Larry production quality and humor, but got C-rate skinemax instead, on a whopping 4 CDs no less... why so many cds? It's all raw .avi footage.

DOA xtreme beach volleyball sadly does a much better job of delivering in the Spanktervision Genre, if that's your bag.

Maybe it's just me, but I've found the current 9700 pro to be pretty noisy also. But I don't care because it runs *everything* at max res/max features smooth as glass, and you can't beat the price from a consumer perspective. That said, Carmack doesn't usually point out fan noise either...

As for the drivers, I'd say ATI has finally given them the attention they deserve (at least on 9xxx series). I've had no problems with finished games, and developing on it has been at least as stable as nVidia chips.

Someone made a very good point in conversation about this the other night, which really made me think. So this sniper drops a card which says "I am God". Does anyone start blaming religious motivation for his/her behavior? Nope. Must be whatever the next Big Evil that the older generation doesn't understand, and therefore fears.

How many killers and rapists were brought up in fanatically religious and repressive families? If I were to guess, i'd put that number at about 90%. When that Texas mother methodically killed her children to save them from going to hell, did stores pull the Bible from their shelves? Was there a big push to outlaw access to dangerously suggestive religious material for minors? Hell, Hitler was a devout Christian, after all.

Not to blatantly religion bash, but if we're going to look for external scapegoats, let's not skip over humanity's number one killer as a usual suspect.

OK, after wasting my entire afternoon in photoshop (nevermind a looming deadline, thanks again blizzard ;)) I have a real guess. It's definitely a female figure standing with her right arm hanging down next to her torso (left side of pic), bent at the elbow. The elbow is the lowest bright spot. The middle bright spot is her high mid-riff, just above the belly button. Her left arm is pretty much completely in shadow, as is most of the figure.

All the stuff that people think is a sniper rifle etc. i think is just background. It could be buildings, or vehicles or god knows what, but it simply serves to frame the negative space of the figure.

I do think she's holding a gun though, as it looks like some kind of scope/flashlight on the right side of the pic, sort of in line with her bent arm.

30 more minutes and we'll see how much crack i'm smokin... aaaauuuggghhh can't wait any longer!!!
