Hey Slothy and S2,
Nice work and congrats on shipping a game with a small staff. I know it ain't easy with a small team, especially doing a dual platform release... I can imagine you guys are probably a little tired by now, the amount of time and dedication it takes is pretty rough on a person ;).

Savage is pretty good stuff, we had a lot of fun playing it when it 1st came out at my office. Good mix of action and strategy, definitely a nice change of pace. Thumbs up! Looking forward to S2's next one...

BTW, Hump, nice one

I wonder how many "security holes" would be found in Unix/Linux etc. if they had 90% market share? Could it be that Windows is "less secure" simply because so many people use it, thus making it a very high profile target?

My personal experience with Linux in particular is that it is by far the easiest OS to hack, mostly because it's such a pain in the ass to keep up to date.

I always find it funny that the slashdot crowd jumps on MS immediately for not knowing some crack in the OS/software suite, instead of jumping on the asshole hackers that are responsible for the crime, and yes it is a crime.

Hacker logic taken to your house:
"I just threw the brick through your front window to show you it could be done. You shouldn't have glass windows, they are too easy to break. I'm a hero, not a crook!"

Man, you've had some rough times of late.

Like someone else said, it's easy to tell by the way you run your site your mom did a good job raising you. Here's hoping for the best for you and all your family.

Good point on the news... I have a friend with a 2 year old kid. He was watching the news coverage of the recent war in Iraq, and started playing soldier and blowing things up.

Now I guess those news guys should be more responsible with what they are reporting, otherwise he'll start gunning down pre schoolers...

It's times like these when I like to look to the Bible for comfort and direction, let's just pick any verse, say Numbers 31:17-18, a quote from Moses:
"Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves."

Thank Dog there is the good book to provide a light in these troubled times. Too bad it's rated MA, or these kids would have never gotten into trouble.

I played through the original HW (a rare occasion for me in the last 8 years!) and I found that it was a fantastic game. MP eventually boiled down to masses, although the early game was fairly good rock-paper-scissors. It looks like they've improved MP gameplay with components on cap ships, upgrade choices, and static defenses... unfortunately, due to the wide open nature and scale of the 3D space, I think it is a less interesting prospect than top down RTSs due to lack of chokepoints and interesting terrain.

However, SP game was awesome, beautiful, and compelling. It really was unique (and still is) in the sheer enjoyment of watching a huge battle unfold from a distance in the quiet of space, and the missions were fun and varied. I also think they have some of the coolest space ship designs I've ever seen.

The ships in the demo probably represent a fraction of the full fleet types available, at least if I remember the first one right. If you want to win, the key is (was) Ion Cannons + repair ships, and dock your fighters/corvettes like mad, and build about 7 harvesters + 2 mobile resource stations.

In the first, I would build salvage ships, capture the enemy's equal Ions, then proceed to ownage without fail. I couldn't seem to capture in this demo, but early aggressive Ion Frigates proved fairly effective against the AI. I have to say the AI did a pretty awesome job of attempting to counter my fleet in the demo.

Also, formations in HW1 were *HUGELY* important... you often would completely decimate or vice versa based solely on your formations and positioning heading into a conflict. I couldn't find how to change formations in the demo, but I'll just wait to read the manual

I would rate HW2 as a definite buy, if for nothing else because I think Relic will not fail to disappoint in the single player experience, and it will stand out in your mind as a unique, fun game.

I dropped so many quarters in that it's not funny. The tanks were my favorite.

After reading Creston's post, I'm definitely picking this up.

I'm really looking forward to Kings of War, I thought Kohan was a blast. One of the few games I've played through in the last 3 years, and the expansion was great too.

Another thing I should point for anyone complaining about how much Bill Gates donates to charity... why don't you look into the numbers your favorite organized religion donates vs. collects in tithing.

That money's 100% TAX FREE with no accountability folks. There's your evil empire(s).

Hmmm, that's funny... I've used a tax lawyer and I still paid pretty normal taxes. Maybe he was a bad one...

The "social contract" is leftist socialist propaganda I heard all about in college. It is directly at odds with capitalism. Bill Gates is NOT under ANY contract to return any money to society, nor is any person in this country.

If more people showed the kind of drive Mr. Gates has instead of whining about how "the rich" get tax breaks, we'd have more rich people.

"If you are a republican before age 18, you have no heart. If you are a democrat after age 18, you have no brains."

PS- I have no heart, and no brains either!

$25M won't get anything remotely close to a competitive console built, in production, and marketed. 250-500M might.

Seriously, AAA console titles are in the 10M range just to make one game... do you really think a hardware launch with 25M in funding will make a drip sound in the proverbial bucket?

I tend to agree with the thought that this company is milking the investment cows. Especially if you count the buzz-words on their (albeit nifty) website.

Call me crazy, but I thought that was the idea behind free market society? If you have a product that is in demand, you are able to make money. It's how the world works.
