Guess i got burned by LO:MAC,hence my reluctance.
To be fair, the graphics in LO:MAC are jaw-dropping,and the level of detail put into the game is amazing, but try it with any AF or AA and you will soon be playing a slideshow.

Even without AA/AF u have to be conservative with the settings, and even so u might run into areas where the frames bog down. My rig is not shithot but neither is it a slouch. P4 3.0,FX5900 & 512 DDR RAM. And we all know how flight-sims desperately need AA!

I understand that simulation games tend to be buggy, but the performance requirements are so steep that it seems that the game would be better released for next generation hardware. Well, back to IL-2 and i'll see how this game fairs on the next generation videocards.

Neither am i a very "twitch-shooter" inclined kind of gamer. I love flight sims and log quite a bit of time on them. Just hate games which are too buggy & unreasonably performance hogging.

Then i wonder WTF are all those reviewers droning on and on about about how this game is open ended and innovative on the net? That means jackshit if the game is so buggy. I was thinking about getting this, luckily i saw this thread first.

Yeah i guess u must have bought along your mops and cleared up the mess,if it takes ten minutes. That is an absurd statement,i've played Silent Storm on both Allied & Axis campaigns, and i've never ecountered such a situation before, even if the room contained more than "two or three" guys. What ammo were u and the enemy using? Spitwads? BB pellets?
Sure the game is a tad on the slow side but hey, ever heard of something called a grenade?

U might not like turn-based games,or SS,or u might prefer Shadow Company. Fine by any means but please keep your bullshit to yourself.

Mafia,Vietcong,Silent Storm,Operation Flashpoint just to name a few are games which i can recall that have an eastern european developer, and they are as good as a match from any of the games from the West. They might not be as well established as the bigger developers in the US,but if they keep up with their superb work they soon will be.

I think it's you who's still living in the Cold War with your head-in-cement attitude.

I hope this does not mean that the game will have the same pretty shadow & lighting effects in DX:IW that are deadly to the frame rates.

The main character looks like a typical potato headed thug. Even Max Payne(1) with his constipated expression looks cooler than him.

I had a relative who really loved SWOTL,and i just couldn't bare to tell him about SWON. Didn't want to despoil his classic gaming experience.

Well Meatfart, every class has a "distinctive" uniform, for eg for the allies the Engineers will wear all an EOD suit, and AFAIK,there is no way u can change that. Now u get to choose uniforms. I know it's a rather superficial(?)change,BFD, but it's nice to have a choice. I think there was some mention of ghillie suits for the snipers but i am not sure wether will that affect the hide skill or not.

I think the "reason" for incoporating a financial model is due to the fact that now your team is no longer under the support umbrella of your choosen side or some similiar reason, but i think u make sense especially if the financial model is added on just for the sake of it and it does not radically change the gameplay.

Need to dig up that damn interview again.

Sigh, seems like the game industry pretty much exhausted all the wars in human history, imagined or otherwise.

Maybe they need to do a game with a pre-historic theme.
Ugg Vs Dinosaurs or some shit like that.
Maybe that'll shut some of you up.
Or wait for the aftermath of World War III where we can play a WW III game in underground shelters and lambast the developers for "capitalizing on current events and not having enough imagination"
I'm all for fresh experiences but some of u guys take it to the extreme.
I'll rather have one Silent Storm than ten value-soft styled "Back to Iraq Again XIV" or "Al Qaeda Bounty Hunter Part IV"
FFS some people are just so darn hard to please.

Man i really wish they could resurrect Syndicate(Bullfrog) or Crusader(Origin). Nothing beats bringing down a skyscraper with a mini-nuke or shooting up the evil corporation's anal retentive offices with your smg.

With the amount of detail they are including into the game,it would be truly awesome if they could get it right.
I for once truly hope that the hype machine is correct in this instance.

I don't care what era a game is set in,as long as it is a good game. Take Silent Storm for example,it is an excellent game, with almost all the features a tactical turn based fan could hope for, with a slight exception of poor enemy AI rushing blindly into hot spots full of corpses and getting killed en mass by your team. But appearently the expansion will seek to remedy that, and incorporate a financial model for managing your team's inventory ala X-COM,as well as able to customise the each member's outfit etc.

This looks more like something in the middle of SS & Commandos to me. Well they have to work hard to match the high standard set by SS.

Frankly speaking i am looking foward to GTA:IV and this more then HL2.
I am a big fan of automotive action games,from Interstate,GTA,Mafia,and of course,Driver.
Me wonders what happened to Interstate series though.
That game was kickass!
Seems like they killed it,was it Activision?

Yeah i switched AA to 6x(which is supposed to be same as the "old" 8x and it's much smoother.
Confusing shit if u know what's going on and good luck to those who are still thinking the sliders mean the same thing. They should at least try to be consistent damn it! Isn't there supposed to be a standard for these things?

To quote Edge from nV News forum:
It's not because you changed your CPU, it's because you updated your Nvidia drivers. In the latest drivers, they've mixed up their Anti-aliasing modes a bit. What was previously 6x is now 12x, and what was 8x is now 8xS (but both retain their origional names of 6x and 8x). 8xS is a more graphicly demanding mode then regular 8x is, so you'll notice more framerate droppage with it. If you want similar quality to what you had before with the old 8x mode, use 6x AA, as it will offer much better performance then what you're getting now. However, I'd suggest using 4xS mode. I think it's the best performence/quality mode there is, and should run plenty smooth if the game still manages to stay in the 20s with 8xS.

Edit: Just remembered that 4xS may not be availible under the control panel for GeforceFX cards. However, you can use a program like Rivatuner to access all the availible AA modes (including the OLD 6x and 8x settings), as well as other cool tweaks.
