I don't see that quote in the article. But assuming it's me, and it probably is, then that's one heck of a quote from the worldwide head of communications for the BBC. I mean, either he's a gamer or really on top of things, because I have a hard time imagining that BBC's worldwide head of anything knows what a 'demo' is or understands the concept of game screenshots and how they are released to gamers beforehand. Just my $0.02.

Follow-up, here's the link to the gamesradar article, although I stand by my claim that that is a semi-strange quote to come from any sort of BBC executive.

man, I love this site. I totally randomly bought BGII this weekend since it was on sale at Target for $14. I never play RPG's but I heard good things about this one, so I picked it up. And I've been having a blast so far. Then, sure enough, it randomly comes up on bluesnews, with spoilers in secret text so as not to ruin it for me, and a great website where I can get patches. Good freakin' stuff as far as I'm concerned.

WTF is wrong with people? Putting a gun to someone's head over a counter-strike tournament that he didn't even participate in? That guy needs to be locked up for a long time at the very least.

I'm really excited about trying this. I've successfully extracted the .CON files from the .GRP, but when the game starts up it shows the splash intro stills, and then immediately kicks to the demo ending stills and ends. I can't find anything on the website that helps with this either. Anyone have any ideas?

...is DOWN RIGHT HILARIOUS.

No, no it's not. The whole situation is sad and unfortunate. War and death, even when your side is "winning", is not cause for hilarity. To believe that so comes across as juvenile, to say the least.

it is that you are ignorant, arrogant and naive and it is, in the end, people like you that caused the WTC and Pentegon attacks and the attacks that are to come in the very near future.

Wow. Come on now, *if* that was the case, wouldn't it be in everyone's best interest to provide coherent, persuasive arguments in the form of an intelligent back and forth conversation? wasrad, you come here spouting your politics, but why? To open the world's eyes to atrocity? To garner more support for your political beliefs?

Whatever the reason, your inablity to concede a single point, your attempts to insult and belittle others, and your constant need for attention all come off as desperate, immature, and fanatical. Grow up man. Say something intelligent. Don't celebrate like a giddy little school girl when people are dying. And then, next time, before you post something, remember this is a website devoted to video games.

I don't play RPG's and I don't usually go for big license video games, but I have to admit, I'm very interested in this one.

So what do you do instead of watching TV? Sure you can play video games, surf the net, go out.

In addition to all of those things, the first thing I did when I stopped watching TV every night was start working out instead. Sounds cliche, but it's true. I also read a lot. The local librarians pretty much know me by name. I also spend an inordinate amount of time working on/modifying my car. And yeah, I watch a lot of stuff that I feel is quality. A lot of times that means shows I've downloaded, or something from my collection of Seasons of shows (Sopranos, Family Guy, etc), or a good movie. I don't mind sitting down and watching something per se, it just has to be something enjoyable and not *completely* mindless, like, oh, say, "Entertainment Tonight" or well, pretty much anything on UPN, lol. I try to be very, very selective. Which is why my friends keep trying to sell me on TiVo. They say it's pretty much like having your own television channel.

I dunno, I hope that helps. Reducing the number of hours spent watching television can be tough. A lot of times it's almost like trying to get out of a cult or something, lol. Man, I know I used to spend way too much time in front of that thing.

Warren Spector...what a cool name. Sounds like a fictional spy/action hero's name. Some people have all the luck.

man oh man...I'm glad I don't watch TV anymore.

Here here...I got rid of my television a long time ago, and I've convinced a couple of friends to do the same. I'm a firm believer that the vast majority of television simply rots your brain. Sitting through most sitcoms is like pulling teeth for me. And it's amazing how people look at you funny when you don't know anything about "Survivor" or "The Bachelor". Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy some shows, but the ones I like almost always get cancelled (Futurama, Family Guy, The Tick, etc). Eh, anyways, sorry for the rant. I should just get one of those "Kill Your Television" bumper stickers and be done with it.

I thought Midnight Club 2 was entertaining. It was significantly better on the PS2 though.

I tried the demo and was really unimpressed. Which was upsetting, because I was really looking forward to it. Nothing has beat NFS: Porche Unleashed for me yet.

And oh yeah, did anyone else actually laugh out loud at the 350Z you drive? I swear I started cracking up when I saw the sticker and body kit crap they put on it, I wouldn't be caught dead driving something like that. I'll take my cars tasteful, thanks.

My cousin can do it, but then again he is like 7 foot 3, and over 400 pounds...I think his stomach can hold more gallons than a most compact cars gas tanks! I would never try it though, I aint that stupid...or thirsty

woah...is that a joke or is you cousin actually that big (I only skimmed the thread). If true, does he play for the NFL or anything? Have a pic? Cause that's like crazy Shaq big...

Beyond that we'd inevitably have to migrate northward through Canadian wilderness as far as the Artic circle.

Ummmm....why would we have to go north? I'd go south, where it's warm.

I love doing video game voice-overs. Almost as much as I love taffy. And I'm a man who loves his taffy. Hmm, *smack* yum, oh, so good, *smack* *chomp* ohh, delicious, hmm, *smack*...

It seems today, that all you see, is violence in movies and sex on T.V. Where are those good ol' fashion values, on which we used to rely?

Ok, maybe I'm crazy, but I didn't like Gattica all that much, and (now here's the possible crazy part), I felt like it had this whole homoerotic subtext to it that was kinda annoying. lol, must people in real life agree with that statement...we'll just see what happens on a video game message board (bring out the gimp trolls).

Yeah, I've mentioned it before...Dark City is/was very underrated IMO. It's an awesome movie, but before everyone runs out to rent it, be aware that it has no Kung-Fu, ok? It's a little bit slower paced than ye olde Matrix.

Can we set up a separate "Ad complaints" thread? No offense Pyro, it's certainly not you or anything, but it is getting kinda annoying seeing people complain/write about the ads all the time.

That article is written more poorly than the movie it attempts to criticize.

bildungsroman how many times I have used that in a sentence

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thought the *exact* same things. However, I will give the author credit for having excellent points, once you get past the pretentious, psuedo-academic presentation.

I agree with you Creston. I really didn't like the ending either for reasons I mention in the other thread, and now you've added more fuel to the fire. Unfortunately, now we're gonna have two threads tho
