I think he misses the point of bottled water. The point is the bottle.

It is sealed... It keeps things from getting in the bottle, and it keeps the water from getting out.
It's disposable.
It's portable.
It offers more consistency than the variety of tap water dispensers(that may contaminate clean tap water).

Maybe 90% of bottled water is drunk at home.... if that's the case, I agree with the article.

what happens when the "demonic Global Community Peacekeepers" win the game?
Global Peace breaks out? OH NO! PEACE IS EVIL!!!

Yeah, since the name of an organization is always descriptive of its goals.

btw the book series has been almost universally criticized/condemned as being un-scriptural.

It is thousands of pages of fiction based off of a few pages of metaphorical prophecy.... of course it will be viewed as un-scriptural.

Hey, with a phd in Computer Science he may make very good money. Possibly so much that spending two hours reformating his computer would actually be wasting money verses simply buying a new one.

Get a new hard drive and install Windows on it. Use the original drive as a secondary partition. Problem solved. You can even access all of your old files....

" I just wish Valve allows the use of debit cards on Steam. PayPal has it. Why can't Steam?"

I bought HL2 on Steam with a debit card. As far as I know, you can use a debit card anywhere you can use a credit card.

That downloading movies thing sounds horrible.
1. The movie will most likely be lesser quality than a DVD.
2. It will not be nearly as portable/transferable.
3. It will cost the same as a physical DVD.
4. It won't be an immediate download.
5. Will require a proprietary software to play the movies.
6. Takes up a lot of harddisk space.

I think TV episodes are much better suited for downloading.

the one that doesn't support the standard 1280x1024 resolution out of the box?

I ran the demo at 1920*1200...
(+szx 1920 +szy 1200)

Revolution will be my first purchase, if only for 4 player simple games... No HighDef, though, is bad. Badbadbad.

The irony is that 4 player games are what can use high definition the most.

I though it would be cool if Revolution could play Gamecube titles at 720p. But that would be hard with no HD support.

The AM-PM ads hurt my eyes!

Edit: And speaking of ads, and WOTW, "You should buy a TIVO" (Dakota to Cruise) (I may be a little off on that quote, but it's pretty close)

I actually found the ending of Batman Begins to be more abrupt/anticlimatic.

The War of the Worlds ending doesn't explain everything in detail, but it doesn't really need to. The whole movie was from the point of view of humans... more specifically, Tom Cruise's character. Because Tom Cruise didn't take down the whole Alien force, we have to learn how they were defeated from his point of view... abruptly.

I enjoyed the movie.

Microsoft is a lot more accepting of new formats.

The PS3 supports Compact Flash.

The 360 has a custom memory card.

Which one is using more open standards?

Is it just me, or does the fixed aperture lighting look better?

In that low resolution video, the only place that the HDR looks better is in the sand.

If you want to see what HDR can really do, check out this program:

The preorder was just set at $60 just in case the games retail for more than $50... I highly doubt they will (at least in Nintendo's case)

I'm already waiting for the newer $50 Cube games to come down to $20-30 before I buy them (paper mario 2, pikmin 2, metroid prime 2,donky konga 2 with kongas)

I was disappointed at the lack of widescreen, most current games support it. Not really my kind of game anyway, though.

Does the Psychonauts game play become less linear than the demo level? One thing I like about the 3D Mario platformers is that the levels are fairly open, and Mario has plenty of moves to let you solve the objectives in your own way.

The Psychonauts demo, and games like Prince of Persia:SOT and
Tomb Raider usually have one sequence of moves that will let you complete the level.

I think Xbox has slightly better world wide sales, but it is within a few percentage points. I think Nintendo will try to be make the Revolution a budget or secondary console, maybe with release a release price of $149 or so. I only have a Gamecube from this generation, but as of now, it looks like I'll be getting a PS3.

1080p is right now with computer monitors, if the console can connect to them.

hmm.... looks like it uses a newer kind of connection :-( kinda sucks because I recently bought a 1920*1200 monitor with every other kind of connection.

I like how, yesterday, Microsoft bashed Sony for being too proprietary, yet the PS3 has readers for several standard flash card formats. I was suprised by that. That means I can use one of my several extra Compact Flash cards lying around as a memory card, and I can download saved games.

I just hope I can get a 1080p connection to my 24" Dell LCD Monitor.

I assume the game is mostly made up of content they had made for URU Live. It will have an updated URU engine, but it will be fully playable with a one button mouse (like Myst I-IV). It will also have a free roam mode. The physics based puzzles in URU, while a neat idea, were poorly executed, and avatar control was difficult for some players.

Even a point and click hotspot game will benefit from a fully 3d engine though. Most of the puzzles in MYST IV had to be covered up so you couldn't see them from other areas. Transitions were often confusing or disorienting.

My dismay for Steam rises each time I notice it's sitting on my desktop, unused for days, yet steal eating 60MB of my RAM.

um... you only have to open steam when you play a game... take it off the startup list.

The reason HL2 is so much slower at loading is because there is 10 times as much data to load as in HL1 but hard drive speed hasn't gotten much better. Unreal 3 will have content streaming, so there won't be many load times.

I find UnrealEd to be a lot easier to use than Hammer. The only major advantage the Source engine has it's powerful physics engine.
