OMG, being born and raised in Sussex County, NJ, about 50 miles (an hour and 20 mins) NW of NYC, I remember seeing Jerry Carroll on the tv all the damn time! I always thought he looked like a younger, more energetic Archie Bunker. And just as loud and obnoxious. Or maybe an older Biff Tannen? I dunno but he was definitely a staple of my daily afternoon commercial diet, in-between Thundercats, He-Man, Different Strokes, The Facts of Life and the 6 o' clock news...Always wanted to visit a store. I thought, in my child mind, that he would be there to greet me, loudly going over all the things he was 'giving away' and that my parents would be crazy to not buy...My god, how times have changed...or have they?

At the same time it's a South Park thread.... should leave you're insecurities at the door.

You can't fix stupid, man, and there's no shortage of that around here. Amirite? *laughs and slaps the back of the guy next to him as if he's known him for years* What a git, to actually have the balls to say something like that to me!

Hahaha_no

In that case, you should take Verno's advice and voluntarily take a hike! I'll even show you the door, since I'm a nice guy.

Do you have any concept of sarcasm? Oh, wait, no, only when it's you that's dishing it out, ja? I swear you're Derek Smart's uglier half twin or alter ego given human form.

I'll give you some much needed advice, Cutter. (Not that you'll listen to it) Take that stick, you know, the one they shoved far up your ass at birth? Grab it, pull it out and then find a heart surgeon to fix that hole the stick punctured in your cold, barely-functioning heart. Then find a book (or have them take that stick and pulp it up into paper for one) and learn 'empathy'. You won't understand it at first and that's ok. Hell, it might even scare you to think people really act decent to other human beings without being massive egotistical twits. We'll be glad to teach you how to become a caring, empathetic person. (Well, most of us can)

Or just continue being a hateful douche. I don't fucking care. We'll see who the stupid one is when we're all being judged at the end...

Oh, and for the record, I know where the fucking quote came from. I even laughed at it when you wrote it, Cutter. So, again, I'll spell it out so you understand clearly - I W-A-S B-E-I-N-G S-A-R-C-A-S-T-I-C. I'm actually replaying TSOT right now (again) while we wait for FBW to come out...geezus...

That's from the first game. You obviously didn't play it. You obviously don't like South Park. So why the fuck are you here? Just to troll? Fuck off and die in that case, mmmkay. Asshole.

Golfclap Yes, because clearly my only reason for being here is to troll, you stuck up clueless twit. Next time try to use what's left of that corrupt soul of yours and put some actual feeling and thought into it because that was pretty fucking weak.

19. Re: EVERSPACE Early Access Sep 15, 2016, 22:31 Rigs

I've been playing this for a while, actually. It's pretty simple, not many things you have to worry about. There's some progression via stats for your ship and you gather different things in each sector you're in to 'craft' missiles or get fuel for jumps to new sectors or to replenish your shields, or to scan the sector to find these things. If you run out of stuff to do scans, then you have to go all over the (rather smallish) sector of space and find them. You have to fly into holes in asteroids to blast crystals or fly through gas nebulas to stock up. You can also shoot containers which have upgrades or replenishment. If you have scans, then you you can get to them pretty quickly. After a certain period of time, you get a warning that the enemy cavalry is coming in, FTL-style, and you better haul your ass out of the sector or get utterly annihilated. I haven't been able to bring down an enemy cruiser yet or get beyond two or three sectors. Once you die, that's it, right back to the start again, though the sectors and their contents are randomized.

Sometimes you'll see 'friendly' (or at least neutral) ships flying through the sector, usually escorting a transport. You have the option of attacking the transport but then you make those neutrals an enemy also. And God help you if you're fighting them off when the enemy cavalry comes warping in! Unless you have something like a station or asteroids between you and them, you're gonna die. Speaking of which, there are stations too, and you can attack them. They'll fight back if you do. I've been in situations where I'm fighting a station and the enemy cruisers come in and just blast the both of us to bits in seconds! They need to tone down those cruisers some, me thinks.

Overall, it's a nice little shooter. Not a sim by any means, though it has nice control and the physics are not Newtonian, so it's easy to grasp. It's just...hard. And after getting maybe three or four jumps in only to get blasted, you kinda lose your ambition to keep going. Or at least I did. It's fun for a while and for what it is but there's not a lot to keep you going for a long period of time. Maybe a storyline, ala FTL would help? I dunno. Or maybe random encounters and events would help. It needs more - stuff. That's about all I can say, to keep you interested for more than a few run thrus...

...one of the worse games I have ever played this side of Atari's E.T.

Just a tad bit hyperbolic, ja? It wasn't that bad, man. Yes, it shit the bed A:CM-style, I'll give you that but I think that was due to a mix of overwhelming hype (that Sony refused to keep control of), a dev-turned-PR-failure getting in way over his head and fanbois making another delay an impossibility. If they'd delayed it for another six months, brought in some competent QA and maybe had a limited public beta test, they could've avoided a lot of this. Just having the game 'leak' before retail release was enough to show them that they needed to rework some serious issues. I've started to think that maybe the 'leak' was intentional, given their lack of QA.

Still, there are worse games out there. Much worse. At least NMS is playable. And some do find it enjoyable. Apparently, it's got a rather large ASMR following. If it could get some good mods and if HG could release the proposed additions of owning freighters and building bases, it would help considerably. This could be an X-type game, with a trade interface and possibly owning stations/bases. The base game is a good foundation, it just needs someone to build something amazing on top of it!

iPhones, or to be more precise, Apple products are for people who want their shit to just work. You want to tinker with it, have some control over it? Look elsewhere. Truth of the matter is that if you are the least bit tech savy, and have the inclination to tinker with your hardware and software, you can buy a better product for half the price. Gone are the days when Apple was the only game in town if you wanted a decent smartphone or a good workstation computer.
LOL @ "they just work."
My daughter wanted an Apple so she could face time with her friends.
It has been one issue after another and not easy to fix due to the way ut is set up and locked down.
"Dad why does the phone lose half it's power overnight when noone was using it? "
"Dad how do I get this interview off my phone? It's too big to email."
" Dad how do I copy my mp3s to my phone?" "ITunes " " I hate iTunes! Can't i just copy them?"
"Dad why is my iPhone overheating even though nothing is open?"
"Dad why won't my iPhone connect to wifi? My galtab connects fine."
At least getting her photos off is pretty straightforward.

Normally I'd agree (who doesn't like throwing shit at Apple?) but you're being a little inauthentic (thank you, Google!) here. (Unless that was your intention) We have an older iPad (gen 2) and we got it at a time when I was kinda new to smartphones and tablets. (I can put together a PC blindfolded (true story!) but I'll be damned if I know jack about smartphones) So my expectations were pretty low and I was happy with it. These things you mention about the iPhone I think can carry over (for the most part) to an iPad because they're basically the same and I can say that I've had no trouble doing most of what your going on about. I can copy anything I want to my iPad without having to use that dreaded piece of trash that is iTunes. I have it installed on my PC (God forgive me) but it's neutered down to just working when I absolutely need it. (For backing up the iPad, mainly) Sometimes I get an app that doesn't want to come off and I have to pry it out with iTunes, which turns a 30-second procedure on a Windows system into a two hour ordeal. That's only, thankfully, happened just a handful of times over the last three years. I've had no trouble with battery use or it connecting to any wifi available, though it does seem to have a fit with 'secure wifi' and it's accompanying plug-in/module/whateverthefuck. I've never gotten it to work. Not that it matters. There's really nothing on there that I would care that anyone would snoop on. You want to watch me play CSR or Fallout Shelter then, hey, more power to you!

I don't even remember this from my playthrough 5 years ago. No clue what I chose or why. But I finished it again last night, after beating a boss that kind of seemed to die without me fully understanding what I did to win. I then quicksaved so I could watch each video, but decided meh. The one wasn't interesting enough to see what the others were. I honestly had no interest at all. But as I was approaching the end, I realized I had no interest in the plot. I was enjoying the game, but...

Double DOH! *tries to dislodge foot from mouth*

*falls out of chair* Dunce

I got DE:HR and Dying Light's endings mixed up (since I've played them both in the not-so-recent past) ...DL's ending is *spoiler* QTE's. Guess I shoulda just kept my mouth shut, I suppose... Lipsrsealed

MacLeod wrote on Sep 9, 2016, 08:40:
wow... such rage for a weeks worth of fixes from the last snapshot. *shakes head*

No. Not even close. Don't trivialize my rage because you don't understand it. Instead of shaking your head in disgust and bewilderment, why not ask 'why?'. Instead it's easier to hand-wave it away as nothing of importance.

This is a long time coming. In fact, if you look at previous snapshot announcements here, I've railed against Mojang many times before. Why? Because the game and it's players deserve better.

Minecraft is one of the biggest surprise hit games to come along that did something totally different from the established genres. You can shrug and say it's just a mix of other successful games before it and part of that is true. So was DayZ. So was WoW and LoL, CS and TF2. It was the way it was made, the mechanics of it. It's addicting and relaxing. It allows creativity and the mod scene is incredible. Anything you could ever want in the game - is in the game. (well, within reason) But that's just the thing. The modders have done all the work. Meanwhile, Mojang pulls in the cash by the dump truck full. And what do they do to complement the modders hard work? They post ten bugfixes, if we're lucky, a week. *slow clap*

Have you ever read the changelogs to other games? Like to maybe The Witcher 3? Or a simulation game? Or even other games in the survival/open-world genre? Hundreds of fixes, tweaks, features. Mojang has the people, the money, the ability but it has no AMBITION! None. They do nothing. Hop over to the Minecraft Wiki and look at the 'upcoming' versions. These are possible new features they 'might' include. Well, I was really hyped for version 1.9 because it was said they were going to re-write the code for clouds and weather. (I'm a big weather-in-games buff, ok?) It was mentioned multiple times that this would be replaced and improved. Many people were looking forward to it. Version 1.9 comes and goes and...nothing. Not even a word about it. And they won't answer my questions as to why not. No reason why. What did they include instead? A fucking shield (no one asked for), using your left hand (no one wanted) and the ability to fly with a small kite-looking...thing. (yup, you guessed it, no one asked for). No performance improvements (even though the game looks like it came out in 1992), no graphical upgrades (modders implemented very fancy shaders that make Minecraft look at least semi-recent...Mojang couldn't be arsed to do it. Instead they put in this stupid 'feature' that when you press the button it goes through a list of different shader effects like black and white and '70's mode'....uh, thanks? :/ )

My beef with Mojang is that they have this game that so many play and they have so many people giving them so many things they could be doing to improve the game and instead they waste their time (and money) on shit like getting ready for Cons and Microsoft Hololens, that maybe 2% of the players will ever get to play! It's bullshit and no one else holds them accountable for it. So I will. If you have a problem with it then just don't read it. Don't judge me.

I can't wait for Minecon to come around in two weeks for you asshats to have the actual BALLS to say in public that the 'new features' you've been keeping secret are...the Java version (ie. the real version) is being dropped, Minecraft2 development has started and we've even got the whole 'Hello World' program running to prove it! Release will be shortly after Star Citizen comes out...and for now, we've got version 1.11 running 10% faster on GTX1080's... ENJOY! Thanks for coming!

He had gotten a local grant from a small biz association and opened his own office in a industrial/office park, either after or during his breakdown. He took some time off, after putting 80 hour weeks on the game, just himself. Now he seems to have taken a little bit of a more casual work regimen. 'Military's fashion don'ts cost hundreds of millions.'

Mockingly nicknamed "aquaflage" -- though the Navy noted upon its release that it wasn't intended for concealment -- the Navy deep-sixed the design this month. Instead, it will clothe its staff in a new green uniform, known as Navy Working Uniform Type III.

Aww, I liked the 'aquaflage', personally! I always wondered why Navy camo wasn't blue and then they went and made it blue and all was right in the world. Except, apparently, it wasn't. Good reason to spend a couple mil, eh! Hahaha_no

Oh, you mean this one? That was my first thought, too! It was actually a pretty good game for the time. I enjoyed it. I don't have it anymore, long since lost/sold/coasterized but I still have the memory of it. One of the first major games to come to Windows95, along with Fury3 (and it's shareware cousin, Terminal Velocity) and a few others. That was the wild-west of 3D/Windows gaming back then. What a whirlwind that era was, geezus! I remember trying to get Redneck Rampage running on my long-suffering 486DX2/66 but it required a Pentium90 at least and while it would load and I could hear some sounds, it was like 1 frame per 2 or 3 seconds! I even got Quake2 to load on it once! No joke! It was the size of a postage stamp with the same framerate but...it ran! I was so proud...lol...

I actually, coincidentally, was playing MoO2 this afternoon and got my ass royally kicked within a half an hour of playing. I ran into the Orion system on my second scout jump, one system from my homeworld and that didn't bode well for my poor fleet! I wasn't expecting to run into it so quickly, lost the whole damn fleet. Then I was invaded not two turns later out of nowhere by those Cystal-whatever motherfu@#$s, destroyed my colonies and bombed my homeworld back to the stone-age before I could mount any kind of defense whatsoever. It was intriguing but not that fun to be on the receiving end of so much firepower. And I had alliances with three other races but they didn't come to my aid at all. So, tl'dr, I lost. Quickly.

Anyway, as for the new one, from what I've seen, it's just missing that certain spark of inspiration that the old one had. Star Ruler 2. Star Drive 2, Stellaris, Pandora, GalCiv2/3...they all had certain qualities they shared, being part of the 4x genre. It feels like this new MoO went totally off-script but what they came up with just didn't quite pan out. Like movie reboots, it just seems to lose it's charm when it's being redone. If they had just made this a kind-of tribute to MoO/2 instead of a straight reboot, I think it would be a little different and expectations wouldn't be so high. Have we passed the peak of gaming? I mean, it seems nothing these days ever seems to be as memorable as back in the good ol' days. Like all the best ideas have been used and abused and there's just rubbish left. It's like no AAA or even indie can truly bring something out that blows everyone away.

I dunno, hopefully this all makes some sense, I should have gone to bed like four hours ago...lol...

Ever try to deal with a feature in a game that is completely out of your control, this is it. No way to plan for it, just not something I would not enjoy dealing with. And yes it was a significant issue in those times, that does not mean I want it in the game.

I dunno, seems like a pretty cool feature. I mean, that's life, man. You might have this awesome empire going and then all-of-a-sudden, you drop dead. Like Alexander The Great. You can't have the whole thing go your way every time. No fun in that. Most of my prized game experiences have been when I was on a roll and then got my ass kicked. It goes back to why people play CS or CoD or TF2 or even Quake3, there's a chance you're gonna die. Here, there's a chance it'll take out your empire. But not always. Maybe it takes out an empire you're trying to conquer? And then you have to quarantine it so your own citizens don't get the plague? There's like a million different possibilities. If you like full control, I understand. But this gives it a bit more...chance to an already chancy game...
