In the video, it shows the ability to drink a beer and also urinate. If you can do both things, at the same time: Game of the Year

This was also leaked to the public a couple of months ago. Apparently, the build that was leaked was a dev build and wasn't in the best of shape, which brought a bunch of negative attention and comments to the (one man) developer, who wasn't happy at all about it. It was posted to the torrent sites pretty quickly but I couldn't get it to run on my system whatsoever. The premise looks nice, something in the same vein as Jalopy. Hopefully this guy knows how to code a little better than the dev of Jalopy because, wow, those first EA versions were horrible...

I think a lot of it has to do with personal feelings and biases as well. Like with Cutter and then Amazon/Best Buy reviews. Like cars, you're always going to find someone that likes something that two other people don't. How do you cut through it? Well, that's the question, isn't it? I think you should put the biases aside, the personal reviews aside and stick to looking at it technically. I also think you should go and look in-person instead of reading on the internet. Take a few hours, go to a few stores. Talk to the reps in the stores, look at the fridges with a close eye on the details. Find out about return policies. Don't worry about going against advice. You see the arguments we have about AMD vs nVidia, everyone has an opinion. You're going to end up going against someones advice at some point. Don't let it bother you. Just concentrate on what YOU want, don't rush yourself and do it in person. It'll be easier this way...

5. Another day, another passing... Jul 31, 2016, 13:56 Rigs

While still reeling from the loss of Jerry Doyle (Mr. Garibaldi on B5), there's been another passing that hit me pretty hard - Dave Schwartz, one of the veteran on-air meteorologist at The Weather Channel, after a 10 year (!) fight with cancer. He started doing the whole on-air thing with TWC a couple years after I started watching religiously. (Yes, I'm a weather geek and at one time, a TWC fanatic, before they went downhill)

This shit just doesn't end...I hate to wonder who's next...

I've never understood the appeal of using Windows Search to open programs. I never use Search at all, typically. In fact, I've disabled it several times while following BlackViper's Services List (of non-essential Windows services that can be disabled). However, now with nearly 5tb of space, I've found myself using it more often to find certain files (that I swear I just freakin' downloaded in the last day or two and where the hell did they go?!? And get the hell off my lawn! )...

I realize some people are into macros or keyboard shortcuts but for me, the 'official' 'long way' is good enough. I feel that it encourages more casual (or those learning) users that may be watching to do it the 'right way'. Of course, this is all subjective on preference. I'm not saying your way is not as good as mine, just that for me, myself, and I, the long-way around is adequate.

They probably made a point of including her because it's a video about a new version of their game, they're probably going to feature new stuff - but more significantly, your tone seems to be dismissive of feminism yet if "because feminism" is the reason why games don't ignore women's existence then feminism in video games is very important.

Cool your jets, mate...I was just channeling my inner John Oliver, not making a quasi-political statement about the depiction of the opposite sex in video games. My 'dismissive tone' was on purpose, not a declaration of personal opinion and/or feeling...we don't need to start putting formal disclaimers in our forum signatures, I hope... Inquisitive

You should have got it from g2a.

I bet drill rental in Thailand is a faction of that price. Maybe he could check it online and try offering that.

OMG, you guyz are killing me.

Hey Cutter, you can rent a hammer drill in Russia for $10 / day. Why aren't you paying $10? It's a fracking mystery!

So they made the graphics a bit more shiny, made the animations a bit smoother. The Equipment is looking fantastic. But I just do not see any improvement from the older farming sim games.

Its like farm equipment porn. Throw in some terrain deformation, or make it like Spintires where the ground gets messed up the more you use it. Or allow you to customize the farm land. Something! its just driving farm equipment around a plastic map. I give up.

+1 Nod

Indeed, while watching (and noticing they made a point of including the new female farmer because feminism... #feminism #farmthisbitch), all I could think about (beyond wondering why the female farmer didn't resemble Lara Croft and/or Kim Kardashian (#bigbootyfarmgirls #citygirlslikeredneckstoo)) was when they were going to get around to actually employing real-time physics to the various plants and vehicles? (not to mention certain other physical attributes (#farmersdaughtersgonewild)) Having terrain deformation would be a huge step in the right direction. I mean, Red Faction did this how many decades ago?! Why isn't this a standard feature in all simulations nowadays? Nearly every FPS has individual plants and many are destructible, so why not here? It's a major part of the game! This just looks like a pretty mobile game at best...someone wake me up when they decide to actually get serious... Bored

Pushing out dreams is so lucrative that having to actually make those dreams reality is too much effort. He got to eat his cake, he doesn't want to have to do the dishes now. The man is creative, there's no doubt about it and if he could write as well as he can world-build, he'd be a master novelist, up there with the likes of Clancy, Crichton, Clarke, Tolkien and Martin. He's good at convincing people to trust him. A master manipulator. But like George Lucas, he can't stop himself from tweaking his dream to fit everyone's tastes. And as such, it's never realized, never finished. The man probably does want everyone to have the ultimate space-trading-combat-sim but I don't think he knows where to stop. He doesn't understand that you can't please all the people all the time. Him and Peter Molyneux are two peas in a dream pod. They want everyone to have the game they've always dreamed of but it's just not possible. Even when you throw unlimited money at it.

Rigs, you have a great take on this. I've believed it was more this (incompetence rather than malicious scam). And an apt comparison to George Lucas.

Well, thank you! It was a little disjointed but it all just came flooding out of my head at once and I was typing as fast as I could before I forgot what I wanted to say...lol...They should tell aspiring writers in college that that is probably how your best work will be written - in a caffeine-fueled flash without warning and typically almost never with an adequate writing utensil around to capture it. I just got lucky this time...

That reminded me just now of that stupid Law and Order: Criminal Intent episode about the fighting game developers and the one lead dev, ('spoilers', btw) who turns out to be the murderer (big shock), is always saying he has to work on the 'polygons for the back wall'. Like, wtf? Like they picked up a book on game development, saw that games use polygons and then wrote the lines without any other research. And they used those 'jet engine'-type lookin' garish PC cases that were popular in the mid-2000's, too, for the big, rich, game dev that the 'bad' dev was in competition with. Every time I saw it, I just rolled my eyes and lol'd. They picked up a copy of Maximum PC or CPU for research and that was about it, it seemed.

Anyway, totally off-topic...your comment just reminded me of that...

I wonder how many fanatics will blame Derek Smart and everyone else they can try to find as a scapegoat instead of Chris Roberts.
Chris Roberts will go into hiding for 6 months or a year, and then he'll come back with another project and ask for more money and everyone he just ripped off with Star Citizen will pony up more cash.

No, I don't see him coming back from this if it does end up being shipped out bare-bones. He'll be this gens John Romero. It'll pretty much curb (if not outright crush) the rest of his gaming career. Maybe, maybe in a decade he might be able to come back quietly, as Romero did, working on mobile. But he'll never be able to shake off the shit storm that hits. Our Gods have failed us. Carmack, Romero, Molyneux, Garriott, Roberts, Holland..they've all fallen since their meteoric rise in the 80's and 90's. The only way any of them could ever make a comeback is by doing it the old fashioned way, a unmitigated blockbuster.

I think what it is, though, especially with Roberts, is that he's seen what little he can do and the reaction he gets from it. They both probably figured that with enough funds, anything was possible. 'If you wish for it hard enough, it'll come true'. And he probably thought he was on the right track, doing the right thing when everyone became ''yes' men', throwing money at him left and right and giving him praise for anything he did. That type of shit really does go to people's heads! Don't fool yourself that they have self-control. They're just as infallible has you or I.

On top of all that, Robert's probably realized that he didn't have to put as much effort into his dream machine because the competition wasn't. No Man's Sky is...well, pretty, but it looks to be a shallow experience on par with SW: Battlefront. Yet people have been going ape-shit over it since it was announced. His direct competitor, Elite: Dangerous, again, is rather shallow. Certainly nothing like what he has proposed with SC. It's a decent sim for the genre, no doubt, and I love to play it, but it's the space-trading equivalent of a walking sim. Braben and company are slowly getting it filled in some more, don't get me wrong, it's on a good track. But, as I said, it's nothing like what SC has been trying to achieve. Beyond them, what's left? EVE Valkyrie? Some indie titles with a fraction of the budget? Nothing is anywhere close to what SC] is suppose to bring to the table and Roberts knows this. He was probably waiting to see what would come out during the time of SC's development. Now that he knows there's really nothing out or on the horizon that could match even a quarter of what has been proposed, he's starting to dial down the hype, marketing and probably weeding out all the features that aren't financially viable. And it's by doing that he's probably realized that SC isn't going to be anything close to what people want.

I could be wrong but I don't think I am. I'm not happy about it. If SC becomes the Daikatana of space-trading-combat sims, it might just put a bullet in the genre before it ever got back on it's feet again.

I wondered to myself the other day what a past me would think if I went back in time to 1992, when I got my first 'modern' PC and told myself that the space-sim and flight-sim genres were cold husks, long abandoned? I'd probably cry for a pretty long time. Especially when I learned that those awesome encyclopedia-like manuals all went away! I think I might miss them more than the games themselves!
