Still like to play, still play the majority of the game solo, still wish for a bit more solo content. I am intrigued, and never considered, the idea of 1-3 man dungeons or raids, that would be sweet. I got a good guild that will actually run 5-10 mans with me, so I am lucky, but a lot are left behind at 60+ as any player knows most PUG's (pick up groups) suck. Hard. Of course, I was yelled at because its a mmorpg last time I made this comment here, but the fact that I am on a server with 50,000 other people, half running around in circles or dancing naked on a fountain for no reason because they didnt take their ritalin, does not mean I have to play with them.

I appreciate the bans, but they are not too accurate. I continue to be gold spammed in the game still, THIS is a priority. A friend recently got a 3 day suspension for "exploiting the economy". Apparently Blizzard is unfamiliar with buying things at a low price, then reselling them at a markup, something they might notice when they stop at Starbucks on the way into work this morning.

Lots of games are massively multiplayer, really that dont require big groups and 8 hour quests, you just opted to interpet the words mmorpg and follow up with an insult, thats what bores ME on the internet, but hope you feel cooler and bigger now.

Bottom line? READ the box. It says on the box "play solo or enlist fellow heroes". I didn't write that. With the onslaught of these type of game and silly crap online like Second Life, solo players deserve some attention, including mmorpg.

"Are you brain dead? Its a MMO. You are suposto do stuff with others. If you want solo content go get a console RPG or something. Im sick of listening to people wine about the lack of solo content in massive **multiplayer** online games."

I quit playing during the summer, then picked it up at the Burning Crusade add on since Winters in N.Y suck, I have time to play then. The BC addon was great especially the new class and first 20 levels of quests much better then your used to seeing. The 60-70 quests were more then enough to keep you busy with, again, many fun and different quests. The end game grind is where I am at, having to spend countless hours earning "reputation" to be able to go to certain instances. Boring.

The problem with this, and other mmorpg games, is the solo player is forgotten. Most of my guild are hardcore players since beta. One guy in the guild told me ONE of his characters play time (/played) is 212 days. I dont mind teaming up with 3-5 guys to do quests or instances for a couple hours tops.

I have heard more solo content is coming, but solo players should be able to earn good gear without doing 10-25 man instances that can take 8 hours to accomplish.

Gave them a second chance with City Of Villians. Didnt last long. Too bad they cant get the wealth of depth that a game like WoW has, which I think has set a high standard. If COH came out in the past year, people would have left in droves to return to WoW. I found it to be nothing more then grinding, which plenty of free, and pay, MMORPg's offer.

Wonder how many subscribers still play? I know it has its fans.

8 million signed on to play Americas Army.
7 million to play World Of Warcraft.

2 totally different games. A pretty good sign for us PC gamers, dont you think?

It will cost more, run slower and you can get your games 1-3 years behind. If you were using a Mac, for example, you might be able to play Wolfenstein ET today, wheres I dont know anyone still playing it. Your right though, Vista is a weak example of a "fresh" operating system, unless for gamers, DirectX 10 is all its being hyped to be. I love the Mac OS, too bad we cant have it for PC so that we could have it all....

The real question here is if 3drealms is located in Seattle, and if so, will this further delay Duke Nukem?

Not really, it is probably an arcade joystick and buttons. Having owned stand up units, these are available fairly cheap. Give em credit, they will probably invest 12 bucks in a unit and easily sell for 50 bucks I'll take one, the wii controller and gamecube just dont feel right with the classics, something like this will be a must have for the wii.

I have not had any real issues with Steam, but have not bought games through it, though I have with other sources. PC gaming has gone so dead, there just are not games to buy, so I would buy from Steam. The new issue of Maximum PC has an editorial from Will Smith in the first couple of pages relating to ads in BF2142 and I think it applies as well to buying games online and downloading. It basically explains the cost and units needed to sell to be profitable and I saw a parralel to buying and downloading games to cut costs from the production end. Otherwise if you read the numbers on cost to produce a game vs units needed to sell to be profitable, you can see the small aisle of computer games in stores like Gamestop fading away to nothing.

I'll take a chance at being flamed. Bought it, seems like a mod rather then a new game. I frankly played it a day or 2 before uninstalling it. I loved the original, I think it is time for a complete overhaul of the engine. Never a real diehard player, so maybe there is enough of a hardcore base who love the new game? I know a bunch of us were going to play it on release, and nothing happened, so I cant be alone.

Hmm, Mechwarrior went dead, 2142 has a mech.... How about a Mech version of the game?

"... you're right... WE should be ashamed."

Yes, you should. Call a spade a spade. No problem not liking them running the ads. I totally agree. Dont buy the game. Make a stand. Dont call something spyware that is not because you do not like what they are doing. Your the vocal minority if you follow the group whose complaint is based on a lie, as the company has already responsed and will not do much more as the game starts to sell millions of copies.

"alware is defined a general term for "bad stuff" -- viruses, trojans, worms, and so on. Spyware is a SPECIFIC TYPE of malware"

LOL, so spyware is a specific from of malware, that is why we call it all malware now, in a world where we assist people removing this crap 24\7. http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=35 . Because its basically been lumped, since most spyware uses multiple executeables, registry entries and more, most so called spyware placed on your machine is virus or trojan like in removing. On average it takes us around 4 hours to remove most known infections. Show me spyware that does not work like a virus. I am sure there might be a few, but can't think of any off hand. Either way, my main point is about the bitching over anonymous data, while your personal data is readily available. Cookies are not spyware in any form.

Just to clarify, too many people are in a hurry to tag something as spyware to make their complaints seem serious. Since spyware, really called malware now, is really much more like a virus or trojan then anything else, to call cookie types of activity spyware is just shameful. Anonymous data is just that, anonymous data. No one collects, nor is claiming they will collect, personal data. In the real world, your personal data can be gotten from all sorts of public sources, from your local government offices to the internet, so why people get bent over anonymous data being collected, while so much of their personal information is readily available, makes no sense to me.

As for my opinion on ads, I dont mind ads if they are in billboards or bus sides in a large game based on realism, but in Battlefield? What will it be, a Burger King ad on a mech or the mothership? LOL. Silly stuff. Luckily, I didnt care much for the game, so I wont have the urge to buy it, even in the bargain bin.

True, in all honesty, I assumed the realism ended at firing in short bursts and crouching. I had a friend years back who had all the guns from the game, and if any of you ever fired an AK-47, that takes some skill to shoot, yet somehow i am most accurate with it in game. Realism tends to ruin many games making them too difficult for a casual gamer to learn to play, least thats always been my thought

"Well MajorGeeks... Don't get fooled by those who say "CS is all about realism!"

I never understood how you get money. Terrorists and governments are usually well funded, so why do you start out with 400 dollars and have to win to get more money. They should "fix" that first.

Have not played in a week, got sick of trying to find a server to get on. Game has potential, but it is pretty early still. I will have to grab this new beta and see how it works. Hopefully this means we can use it on "multiple" computers as my new machine comes Monday, another reason I didnt want to install the beta, just in case it would not work on another machine.

Deadwood followed by Entourage is easily the best 90 minutes on television.

I tried watching Lucky Louie as well, but while I dont mind the swearing, nudity, etc., it seems they dont know when they cross the line from funny to just stupidly gross. Last weeks show was borderline and funny, this weeks was way over the top to where I barely was able to watch it all. Anyone else watching it?
