the EFF and other organizations Are fighting back, but the Universities themselves never will because most rely on money from corporations to stay in business.

The real hope has to come from students themselves, to realize they must band together and Fight Back.

Daylight Savings Time comes early this year so watch your Paychecks and Timecards for the next few weeks to make sure you're not getting screwed out of an hour.

I applaud his efforts to make games with real emotion, no one else is doing anything nearly as cool, but some of it is pretty... odd.
We want you to feel loved. You can have sex and you can have a baby.

"That baby will grow up and will kind of look like you."

To encourage empathy the game will also feature a dog.

I want you to make you feel it is a real dog.

Each dog will be unique to the gamer and Mr Molyneux said that gamers would be able to introduce their dogs to each other online.
And then they die.

seriously with all this emo in the game kids will scarred for life if anything bad ever happens to Fluffy or Baby!

that at a GAME, DEVELOPERS, conference, where guys who have access to the most Advanced 3D Engines and Rapid Prototyping and Animation Toolsets in the cosmos, are still using...

S L I D E S H O W S

to make presentations!?!?

Pretty ironic that the very Evangelists of 3D must fall back on flat static images when they need to Make A Point and have an impact on an audience.

lol pretty funny...
TR isn’t really an FPSMMO
because
In tabula rasa you move with WASD, shoot your weapon with the left mouse button, execute an ability with the right and look through your reticle while engaging NPCs that move to you if you try and hide.
Aha, so it's a FPSMMO. ... Doh!

I wonder if by the time it's released it has ANY rpg elements left in it at all.

just release a new episode every few months. ... use the same engine and such. Just make new maps, character scenes and dialogs,
,new stories, new scenarios, new content - like NWN.

Apparently whatever HL2 tools exist are too complex for average storytellers to use, there should be a huge community cranking new adventures out every couple months, but there's not.

the only PC honorees being... LineRider for innovation.

innovation is often limited by affordability,
maybe if game pc's weren't so damn expensive.

checked it out, it's a sorta clever idea (from a Corporate weasel point of view) -

they offer a system performance check against a particular game you may want _AND_ then offer a Search-like list of possible options for you to buy and upgrade if you need it.

Basically they automate and integrate the sequence of things we all now do manually when considering a new game
- Learn of a new game (news)
- Read about it (previews, reviews, forums)
- Look at the game's min/recommended specs
- Check your system specs
- Guesstimate how your machine will perform
- Search the 'net for performance upgrades
- BUY the upgrade and the game

Of course their recommendations only offers THEIR advertisers so the deals are poor but it IS Convenient, which means they're targeting people who have too much money / are too lazy / or aren't hardware/software savvy enough to do it themselves, so for the market they're after it's probably a useful site.

oh yeah the Search part also includes where to buy the game itself cheapest.

Put all that together with fluffy puffy "reviews" and "previews" and positive-attitude "news" and feel-good "forums" to DRIVE reader interest and you've got an all-encompassing Corporate Advertising and Marketing game selling Machine.

oh I would absolutely L-O-O-O-V-E to see Epic try and take the kids (christmas?) present away, International media would have a feeding frenzy.

not some graphics tech demo shooter clone, but a 5-Star triple-A innovative product and studio. i know Chris Hecker is a human flame thrower but if the Spore guys are grumbling there's at least some amount of credibility.

I would love to have been at the GDC and seen the audience reaction to his statements.
I suspect the outburst revelas a dirty little industry secret - that privately most commercial devs don't really like working with the wii all that much due to it's limitations.

The last thing you want to hear when implementing a design is "ok so what do we have to cut".

1954 Sinatra and 1956 Elvis, hm, it looks like the list was compiled by people who are still alive to remember the impact an album had. Arguably the Jazz of the 1920's had as revolutionary an effect on world culture as the Rock of the 1960's. "The roaring 20's" must've been a helluva time!

maybe they should license the technology to other companies as middleware, like the awesome SpeedTree product. It would allow mmogs to have ocean travel and exploration.

Shouldn't Funcom finish Conan first
another mmog developer commented that, since mmogs take about 3 years to complete, their strategy was to start work on a new one each year so they can have annual new product releases.
