New Bungie IP will likely take 2-4 years to make. That's about when the next generation should be launching. Maybe they will go right back into a platform exclusive deal.

I think I'll pirate this game about 10 times out of spite.

If 100 people did that there would be a loss of $60,000!

hey, DirkDaring how about you become DirkReading and read the 5 replies that already said that the CD key is not authenticated, it was about the game checking for updates.

I think you are splitting hairs here. Obviously they do remotely authenticate because bootlegs can't play multiplayer. If they don't remotely authenticate prior to the update check it isn't a big difference. The update check prevented single player games from being started though. That would be incredibly stupid of them to implement such a glaring vulnerability and not gain any advantage from it.

A CD Key is not fucking DRM. DRM implies that Stardock can revoke your rights to enter the game. They cannot do that. They can prevent you from connecting to their servers, but that is not DRM - that is fucking common sense. There is absolutely, positively not a single ounce of DRM within any portion of Demigod.

You should provide an argument to back up your claim that "Digital Rights Management" does not describe software that only functions with a CD key. Maybe there is some technicality for that but certainly not if the CD key is authenticated remotely every time you try to access a game menu.

Those "morons" excpect to see similar numbers to Sins of a Solar Empire. Had you read a single damned thing Brad Wardell actually wrote, you'd understand this. The piracy numbers were much higher than they expected, so they quickly expanded their servers and tweaked their systems to handle it better.

They were only equipped to handle 1.5 times more bootlegs than pay customers at peak while they ended up with about 5 times. That is a silly disregard for reality. Here is Brad Wordell's own admission as quoted from #35 in this thread "Let’s face it, there’s plenty of data out there about how many pirated games are being played. We should have looked at that."

What the hell are you talking about? Demigod doesn't use any DRM.

Of COURSE it is Digital Rights Management. You have to submit a valid key to enter multiplayer or (apparently) even to view menus in the game.

What did these morons expect to happen? 20k pay custumers and 20k bootlegs? That would have kept their numbers under 50k but that is a ridiculous expectation!

And if there are over 100,000 people, well, you get horrific results such as the game being incredibly unresponsive due to simple web service calls

That sounds retarded. Is that retarded?

Game designers who dislike their own game are artless mercenaries. DX3 was over before they even announced it. What poor management.

The price is steep but on top of that the levels are not the same quality as the originals. There is no architectural design or attempt to model anything real. These levels are so much cheaper to produce.

PS3 fans shouldn't be too upset, the DLC looks awful. Lots of dull action with some RPG elements actually removed.

The rag coverage was really disappointing but here are some quotes from the community manager Rene that at least sound good on paper:

"It doesn't look like Bioshock! Bioshock was heavily influenced by the Art Deco style of the 1930's."

"when it comes to gameplay, DX3 is very much a Deus Ex game. "

"It's still based around making decisions which have consequences, selecting from a multi-path, multi-solution approach in a non-linear space (think DX1 not Invisible War), and you're able to customize your character (Adam) as well as your weapons. DX3 is an action/RPG just like the first game."

"When it comes to freedom, having space to search and roam in, and to run the streets and sewers, don't worry - we have that. This was just a magazine first look. That stuff will come next time."

"[load times] was one of the first things the team wanted to address so don't worry. Our tech supports streaming of data so the transition from indoors to outdoors will be seamless."

"the social aspect of the game is extremely important. Do not fear."

They said "internal" so that rules out Halo 3 PC port and Halo Wars RTS. Bungie does not own the Myth IP. Here's my take:

1. Halo 3 levels
2. Peter Jackson Halo.
*yawn* Oh, then something new! ...but far off:
3. New multiplayer franchise for the Xbox 720 in Nov 2011.

It has been awhile but Crysis ran at 20-30FPS on high settings for me before. Now it never drops below 30 and the environ shadows do look better from what I remember. Hard to compare texture res from memory.

I am more addicted to AoC than I was Diablo II or Guild Wars. It does so many things right. There are however a number of graphical, quest, and skill bugs and there is no indication that Funcom is going pay to have them all fixed.

I played the game for the environments. Although the second half wasn't bad, the first half had great animation and modeling that felt very refreshing.
