News Comments > Spaceship Ahoy - Elite: Dangerous

Mining and exploration were never the most profitable activities. The rare trade runs were great and killing pirates was the second best for income. Doing missions was also great for money income.
It was still a bit of a grind fest but you have to switch it up a bit to make it interesting.

Well it is a sports game, not sure if people will still play it years from now. I don't think anyone can answer that for you.
It does take a bit to be good at it though. Easy to get into it and score a few goals by accident but to be good at the game you will have to put some time in.

For a $20 game I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Which begs the question, why do you keep playing it if it's a drag? If you don't enjoy that type of gameplay than don't play it.
I've made quiet a bit of money before all the nerfs. Rare trades and pirate hunting was quiet profitable.
I haven't played in a while, but I am sure I'll come back to it some day.

By the way whatever happened with the promise of the Steam cd key for those that purchased the game from their website?
I would prefer to have this game on Steam, so I can stream it on my home network.

I've ended up buying this game and it is a blast playing with the kids in local coop vs the Ai.
Last night I've tried a 1vs1 against the Ai and had my ass handed to me.
Needs more practice. Love the game though. Takes a bit to get a hang of the controls.
It really shows how much I suck when playing in 1 vs 1

I kept thinking Metal Gear Solid 5 was already out. Until I realized there are 2 different games called MGS5 with different sub title

Man, Valve/Steam needs to seriously review these games before green lighting them. At this point they would green light a pile of sh!t and they wouldn't know.

It's getting worse than the Google Play store.
My thoughts exactly. Prime example of a dev abusing the green light system.
Glad Valve has the refund policy in place

Satellite Reign
Put it on your wishlist!

Huh! Looks interesting. Anyone played it in EA?

Not yet, I've been meaning to pick it up.
If it goes on sale I'll grab it.
There are some let's play vids on youtube, it does look pretty good.

As a PC/XB1 gamer, I think it's time Call of Duty became a PS4 exclusive.
Oh it isn't just yet. Although I think they should just keep it on the consoles. I don't think CoD is a very popular game on the PC. At least not according to Steam stats. Not sure why they bother with a PC port every year.

This game is a lot more like Command & Conquer than Supreme Commander. The camera fix was a must. The default camera was zoomed in way too close.
I am glad they listen to player feedback and make changes to the game accordingly.

What it is that you dislike so much about that gameplay? Aside from the shitty frame rate as it was being played on the console.

Yeah they wanted to not let you turret. I prefer Star Citizen's method to this, personally. In ED they gimped your ship. In SC they didn't, but if you keep spinning too quickly your vision gets blurry and you lose consciousness. I don't care for the flight system in ED. Regardless of their reasons. Even the nimble ships feel like you're flying a freight train. Just wasn't fun.
I much prefer ED flight model to SC.
SC just makes me frustrated and it feels like I am controlling a freecam not a space ship.

Anyways we'll see what Chris Roberts does until release but if they keep the flight model the way it is I won't be playing SC at all. Elite is way better imo, to each their own.

Planetary landings was always planned as the second expansion and was always going to cost $50. The alpha backers already paid for it ($150 for the initial release plus two major expansions--planetary landing and first person whatever). A lot of people seem surprised by this.

I am a premium beta backer not Alpha and I am also getting this expansion.
Accroding to their site I am getting all the expansions not just 2 although I didn't think there were any more than 2 major add on packs planned.

You're Probably right... The Dark Age of Gaming is Here.
I don't know if it is really like that though. I'm not a huge fan of EA either but they weren't in the hurry to shut down the servers on the older BF games.

It could of course happen with this game but I wouldn't declare doom and gloom just yet.
