I think what bummed me out initially was that everything was hovercraft, and the two sides had little differentiation. The newer gameplay vids show improved differentiation, but everything is still hover. What made TA/SupCom so great was how the sheer variety of weapons could all be an equally valid path to victory.
- Turtle up and lob artillery or nukes across the map.
- Rush the enemy with a huge ground army of cheap or midrange units.
- Turtle up and build a huge airforce to bomb the crap out the enemy.
- Awesome naval options for water maps
- Save up for an "Experimental" unit and steamroll the enemy
- Airlift (automatically) massive armies across the map for surprise and flanking attacks
- Any combination of the above.

I like what I see of AotS so far, but it feels only partly finished without mechs, tanks, ships, specials, defenses, etc. etc. One thing I do like is the connected map nodes, a la CoH. But without unit variety, it just feels like the "spam and jam" style gameplay would be the main way to play. Where's the beef?
Thanks for that summary.
The game is on my wishlist and since it is on sale I was thinking of getting it.
I was a fan of SupCom also. Endless hours of comp stomp on Finn's Revenge map. I was hoping that this game was going to be a worthy successor.

Me too. I enjoyed it and hope the single player component gives me a good amount of gameplay. I am 41 and have no real inclination to play multiplayer.
I don't mind MP, I just don't have a set schedule that I can dedicate time to play online with a group.
Maybe that is why I like to play CoD every now and then because that is more of a solo MP game than one where you rely on team mates. Quick run and gun fun for 30 minutes and move on to something else.

I'm sure this would be a blast to play with friends but 90% of the time I will be playing solo so I hope the SP part of the game is decent.

Most people judge these games by the title without even looking at gameplay or trying the demo.
There's fun to be had there, even if the game doesn't have cutting edge graphics or Ai.

I always ignore fines in ETS2. My trucking company, @128kph, has no time for speed limits.

Cool of them.

I like the demos where you can buy the full game and then just keep on playing.
ETS2 was the same, your demo progress carried over to the full game. Pretty awesome.
The amount of mods out for this already is just insane

I am one of the 5 people who actually enjoyed the last Hitman game.

Probably going to grab it. I like this series.

I'm surprised Total Biscuit already beat a campaign. Is it really short or something? I heard one podcaster say 10-13 hours. I assume it is shorter because there is a countdown mechanic for the campaign.
In his video he mentioned he beat the preview build, he also mentioned he put 60-70 hours into it.
He played it on normal difficulty if I remember correctly.
Watch the video I linked below.

Can't wait to get home and play this.
I got it from GMG with their 25% off coupon a few days ago. Worked out to be $65CDN
After watching the Total Biscuit video on this game, I was sold.

XCOM2 Deluxe Deluxe code DEALZO-NSAVES-23XCOM seems to still be good for 23% off at GMG. It brings the price down to $57.75 US. However the code doesn't work for the regular edition. Does anyone have a regular edition discount that's still active?
That code doesn't seem to work anymore
Kinguin has it for lower but I'd much rather go with GMG

I've tried this at the last free weekend deal and I did not find it entertaining for some reason.
It might be a good game but not my cup of tea.
With XCOM2 out this week, I think I have my free time pre booked anyways

I didn't think they've had to go this far, but it is very cool for them to do this. So hopefully people will stop accusing them of grey market keys.

so up until this year you didnt like buying from steam because they never offed you a refund....now i am confused GMG has always refunded
I don't think GMG refund games ones you've redeemed the key and played the game under your account.Steam refund is different.
Games bought on Steam can be refunded after you've played it.
