Bullshit DLC so high priced. Been hard to get games going and for some stupid reason NO ONE plays CTF.
Prime example of how paid DLC divides up the player base.

The only thing unique here is that you get to name things you find first and the name sticks for everyone.
I believe the name of the pilot who discovered the planets will be indicated but you do not get to name planets.
At least that is what I thought how it works.
Otherwise the naming will go way out of hand not to mention coming up with new names after a few million planets have been named.

I dunno; the tech of this game is undeniably impressive, as is the art style but there still doesn't seem to be much of an actual game behind it all. It doesn't seem as if there is much longevity to this title; it's something you'll fool around with for an hour or two and then move on to a game where you can actually accomplish something. As such, I'm not sure it's worth its current price point and definitely is not something I'd risk a pre-order on. It's a shame because the concept seems sound; it's just the actual implementation that appears lacking.

Pretty sure those DX:MD comparison shots are bullshit. DX12 won't change the lighting of the level or the post-effects.
Here is the interview with the devs and the full length video Microsoft took those comparison shots from.

If you're looking to get GalCiv3 and the Merc expansion check out GMG
Use the code MAR20 to get both together for $46

Or just don't get Gal Civ 3 and get Star Ruler 2 instead. SR 2 is actually fun, but if that's not important and you'd rather explore 6 anomalies in a row and find 10, 30, 6, 9, 40, 2 credit rewards, then Gal Civ 3 is totally for you. I'd rather explore an anomaly and find a planet killer ship but wtf do I know?
I am not getting it, was just pointing out the price.

Picked up a new Logitech keyboard and got a free copy of the game. I hope it is fun, but since it was free, I don't have to worry about buyers remorse

Totally love the new G910, btw.

link to deal plz
Amazon is not the only place that is on the approved distributors list for the deal.
Here's the link with more info: https://www.logitechgpromo.com/gpromo/index.php
I've just picked this keyboard up too from BestBuy, love it.

Just take a look at the steam forums and reviews. Pretty much resolved any desire I had to purchase.
I will check it out, thanks for the heads up.

Wonder how large of an install this will be considering the console is around 40GB.
Judging it from the console version and how Turn 10 operates (and because this is a free to play version)
It won't be that large because 90% of the stuff will be paid DLC

Guess when I got this for cheap on GmG the season pass was part of the deal?
It was?
I got it from them too but I don't own the season pass.
I love this game though. Never managed to get into the previous ones.

Just cut a cover out of an old t-shirt and put that on there, grab a new cover for every person who uses it. Easy solution. I do that with my CPAP machine, to stop from having to clean the silicone cushion Every.Single.Day.
I was going to suggest to hose down your sweaty friends before you let them use your stuff, but the T-shirt idea works too

What hype? This is like the dumbest fucking setting they could possibly choose.
I for one don't mind the changes.
Getting pretty tired of the futuristic shooter theme.

Given this game being BF I am sure we will get the title screen for the $59.99 price and everything else will be DLC

I think what bummed me out initially was that everything was hovercraft, and the two sides had little differentiation. The newer gameplay vids show improved differentiation, but everything is still hover. What made TA/SupCom so great was how the sheer variety of weapons could all be an equally valid path to victory.
- Turtle up and lob artillery or nukes across the map.
- Rush the enemy with a huge ground army of cheap or midrange units.
- Turtle up and build a huge airforce to bomb the crap out the enemy.
- Awesome naval options for water maps
- Save up for an "Experimental" unit and steamroll the enemy
- Airlift (automatically) massive armies across the map for surprise and flanking attacks
- Any combination of the above.

I like what I see of AotS so far, but it feels only partly finished without mechs, tanks, ships, specials, defenses, etc. etc. One thing I do like is the connected map nodes, a la CoH. But without unit variety, it just feels like the "spam and jam" style gameplay would be the main way to play. Where's the beef?
Thanks for that summary.
The game is on my wishlist and since it is on sale I was thinking of getting it.
I was a fan of SupCom also. Endless hours of comp stomp on Finn's Revenge map. I was hoping that this game was going to be a worthy successor.
