Yeah, aside from that whole "most experienced developers could have made not just one but SEVERAL games already with this amount of time and money" thing.

Was Chris Roberts in the US military doing budgets? Only other group I've seen that can be given virtually unlimited money and still fail to have enough for ANYTHING.

Her gap in logic was this:
Jews were born Jews. While people convert to it and away from it, that didn't matter in the 3rd Reich. Those born Jews were persecuted for just being born as if they were a race and not a religion. Your name, your appearance, it all "gave it away".

People who hold conservative or liberal beliefs weren't born that way. They may have been born into such a home, and never seriously questioned it (just as with religion), but they can change their views. You aren't automatically a Democrat if your parents were Democrats. If your mother was a Republican and your father a Democrat, you are not a Republican with no power to change it even if you agree with your father more.

Saying someone's beliefs should be immune from consequence is NOT the same as saying someone's birth circumstances should be. Yet many love to make that false equivalence. Look at how many politicians have crossed the aisle over the decades. Not a lot, but enough.

Think if some rich doctor in Germany changed his name and put up a cross on his wall that he was immune now?

I have several so far, although one (Wolfenstein Youngblood) got the update enabling it after I'd finished it...have to go back to it at some point and see how it's different.

I have used RT in Metro Exodus, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Crysis Remastered, and Quake II RTX I believe. I have Doom Eternal but have not played it at all yet.

Quake II RTX is free with a couple of levels, if you own the full Q2 you can play the whole thing that way.

So far RT goes from barely noticeable in both performance hit and appearance to big change to both. Metro is the one that looks best with it compared to having it off IMO. Well, Q2 looks amazing with it but it's still Q2!

Not only disappointing in the delay, but in the communications. They announced this a mere 7 months ago!

There are just over 2 months left in 2020 and NOW they say they never got a hold of the source code? Were they figuring if they got it they could do it in like 2 weeks or something?
More like they knew a LOOOONG time ago they could never make this date, or even close to it.

I can accept the problems finding the stuff. The legal issues. The technical issues with doing it a different way. All make perfect sense, are logical, and just part of the business.

Waiting until you've been sitting at the dinner table for 20 minutes after you order your food to have the manager come out and tell you they never got their shipment of food in today and don't think they'll be able to serve you dinner before they close for the evening? Uh...no. There is absolutely no reason for them not to have said something about this long ago other than smarmy lawyers, yes-men management, and/or cowardice.

Their technical skills are not at issue, but their PR skills SUUUUCK.

Compaqs were notorious for hardware incompatibility. Remember 3COM? They were ubiquitous in the network card space.

You couldn't get a Compaq to recognize a 3COM NIC! Grab an Intel NIC, worked fine. Toss that 3COM into an HP or a Gateway or (shudder) a Packard Bell, worked fine.

I remember my boss back in the late 90s was incredulous that it was the case, but I proved it to him using 3 PCs and 2 NICs and he remarked "wow, Compaq is crap." Shortly thereafter HP bought them, kept the name around for a bit, and then dumped it. HP is still around, but not Compaq.

Well, with the exception that they still have "softpaq" driver software. Never got around to dumping that q.

The important part of the First Amendment, which everyone seems to gloss over, is that it is an explicit restriction on the actions of the gov't. The gov't is not allowed to make restrictions on free speech, religion, assembly, etc, except as already noted above.

This has NOTHING to do with whether Facebook says you can't say this or post a picture of that, or Twitter says we will ban you if you support this other thing, or Blue bans you for posting ASCII pics of tentacles doing awful things here.

Those are corporations and they are allowed to restrict whatever they want on their own platforms. If they feel allowing it will cost them more money than it makes them, then by the almighty rules of capitalism that's what they will do. You can shout "free speech!" at them but it's totally irrelevant. FB can be as hot on censorship as they want it to be. If they drive people away and go broke, there's no law against that. A business is allowed to be self-destructive. The gov't can't refuse to give someone a driver's license because they are gay, but a bakery can refuse to make them a wedding cake. If that bakery loses customers but decides it would rather do that than bake a cake for gays, it can.

The First says the gov't can't tell FB "you're not allowed to post that." It does NOT say it can tell FB "you have to allow people to post that." It is a restriction on powers, not an expansion of them. All of the Bill of Rights, the first 10, are like that. Many of the later ones DO grant powers, such as the ones for Prohibition or income tax, but not those.

Flaming Cliffs 3 (a poor Russian translation) has multiple planes for a single decent price and they're much easier to learn.

You get a US fighter, US attack plane, a Russian attack plane, and a few Russian fighters.

If you try and like them, and you get into it, and you want more fidelity, then you can move up to the A-10C, or Hornet, or Tomcat, or Harrier, or whatever. Starting with one of those is not forgiving or fun for most people.

Everyone seems to forget Crysis Warhead, which was the original sequel and actually was more of the first.

The 2nd and 3rd games were fine technically, and the gameplay wasn't bad or anything, but the setting and the storylines were not nearly as good.

You have this big showdown with the aliens in the mid Pacific, and then you're in Manhattan because reasons. I can understand not wanting to repeat the uninhabited Pacific Island theme, but they could've made it in Japan or Okinawa or Taiwan or Alaska or some other rim area where you start in the countryside and end with the city as the 3rd act and not the entire game.

Also, I have spoken with many, many people over the years that loved Crysis UNTIL the aliens came into it, they preferred fighting the humans. So the 2 sequels went straight to aliens and the humans seemed like an afterthought. It was Crytek's midichlorian moment.

If you preordered Ep 3, and they kept the money and never refunded nor delivered it...

THAT is a scam. This was not.
A shame, a disappointment, a blatant case of mismanagement (where they couldn't control their feature creep), certainly. People wanted to play the final chapter. They weren't demanding some brand-new genre-busting tech for it.

Where's the outcry for not making the final film in the Divergent series? Isn't that a scam for everyone who paid to see the earlier films and didn't get their finale? That were forced to READ the books to see how it ended?

Just rename it Squadron 2042, the date when it will finally be released by some other developer who will buy the rights when Cloud Imperium collapses and redoes it ala Duke Nukem Forever.

In a span of 7 years we went from WC1 to WC5. It's 2019 and with more money and no "publisher interference" they've managed to make a lone... something... sadder than Wing Commander Armada was.

For the amount of money they've raised they literally could've paid for a stealth fighter jet, which could be built in less than a year by a company that actually had competent leadership and knew WTF it was doing.

At least we've had the question of "what happens when a creative lead gets infinite resources and no outside interference to make their vision" answered...NOTHING. Someone crowd fund a producer to interfere the hell out of this and get a game RELEASED.

I saw MiG-25, MiG-23, and MiG-29 in that along with a couple that were too far away to identify, but no Su-27s. Of course, DCS World has plenty of Flankers, the 27, the 33, and the J-11 now as well.

4K gaming? Right. And how long did it take for 64 bit gaming to become a reality? I remember using XP 64 bit because I was stoked for the coming onslaught of 64 bit games! 15 years later....finally a trickle begins.

Wow, it sure is exciting living here in 2020. I'm playing that old game Ryse at 4k at 120fps easily on my current system.

Unless somehow you had XP 64-bit 6 years before it was released in 2005, that is. That's when FEAR and Quake 4 came out.
So it's not even been 10 years, and XP 64 was never commercially released, MS waited for Vista's release just 7.5 years ago to start the 64-bit push or half the interim you've been waiting.

Since everyone seems to be reminiscing about Sierra, I'd still like to see a real continuation on No One Lives Forever. Contract Jack just didn't cut it.

Seeing as Contract JACK came out right after NOLF2, it was hardly a continuation. It was more a "meanwhile, over here..." story. It was also a blatant attempt to attract the run'n'gunners with no cutscenes and minimal story. It alienated the NOLF fans and failed to attract new players, double fail.

Did they ever find out who owns the NOLF IP? Monolith said they don't own it, Vivendi said they didn't know...

They killed Flight because it wasn't making them money, because it sucked, and they had no clue what to do.

They killed MSFS11 because FSX didn't make them ENOUGH money (it was definitely profitable, but MS isn't interested in only making a LITTLE profit) and they were focusing on the Xbox.
