Why do game makers think that depictions of realistic physical violence is the worst thing a person can go through?

If you really think that is the message, then you ARE deluded. That is not the message or opinion the speaker of the quote at all.

AoEIII was in the top10 NPD for 3 months running, a few of those selling over 250k units. I bet it easily topped a million over the course of it's lifetime.

According to Wikipedia, AoE3 sold 2.5 million, which was somehow beneath the 3 million of the first AoE.

If there were only 2 fucktards in the world... well... it'd be a better place.

Most of the fucktards are not members of the fucktard club, but are instead the executive board of Fucktard Incorporated.

Which they'd keep games and the OS separate. I thought it was bad enough when games started putting their saves in my documents.

This is one thing they needed to "borrow" from Linux a long time ago. User preferences should go in the user's home directory. Game files go in the game folder. I shouldn't have to go digging around through the game's filesystem in order to backup my save games. And then there's someone on my computer wipe out my save game even though they're on a different XP account, which happens if you've ever had siblings or you have a family.

They don't want a demo because the game may be shitty or the game may be good. Such insight on the pulse of game development!

Server crashing and account spoofing should be immediate, not winter. When a buffer overflow was discovered in Q3 engine games, they released patches for Quake3, RTCW, and Wolf:ET, with Q3 being 7 or 8 years old by the time.

They were games that you could pick practically any class and be happy and go into diverse ways with it. Now they are saying you'll have a class, but you might not like it right off the bat? Wtf are they doing now?

It sounds to me like they're saying "when we announce this class you're going to hate us, but when the game comes out people will find/try the class and like it" not "you'll hate the class until you get to level x"

The Site Update thread had 1 comment just now, but when you click on it, it goes up to 27. An issue that will solve itself in the next few days, or is something broke?

The DNS switch has been propagating for a while, and nothing seems to have blown up so far (knock on wood), so no Last Post for you.

I did notice one thing (we shall see if it's still there) -- posting a message results in a blank BN page with no content in the body.

Still there. bluesnews.com resolves to 216.105.160.130 for me.

Coincidentally, though, H*R was originally meant to be a children's show/site. You see that resurfacing now with the live action puppet shorts. It's just that it hung on a bit better with an older audience, and Strong Bad - well, Strong Bad of course was a pleasant surprise for the creators and for the fans.

Quite true, but that puts it in the place of a lot of children's cartoons that often had more mature themes-- see Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, and even the old Rugrats toons come to mind.

Dunno, it seemed popular with the 10-12 year olds on GameFAQs several years ago... unless it aged with them.

I assure you whatever game you enjoy that I can find 12 year olds on GameFAQs, some that are obsessed enough about it to write fanfiction about it. If I weren't so lazy.

I care, I bought the season pass.

You do know H*R isn't aimed towards children, right? I don't think anyone who isn't old enough to read this site would get 1/10th of the references.

And the PS3 sales would have been much greater if they weren't released on X360. It's simple mathematics and isn't exclusive to the PC.

The fact that you even had to point out this basic arithmetic should show how far detached Jerykk's opinion is from reality. When a person is willing to make intellectual judgments based on whether you enjoy a few rounds of Gears of War with friends instead of condemning them for not pulling out their PCs to play Tribes, you should probably pack it in and call it a day.

Or just be a gigantic sarcastic douchebag, like I do in these kinds of threads. Whatever floats your boat, really.

In other news, HD-DVD SOOOO would've won the HD format wars if movies were released on HD-DVD instead of Blu-Ray! I wish we had the armchair CEOs here on the HD-DVD board!

18gb of free space? hmmmmm- that is a lot more than a 360 or PS3 disk size.

No it's not. While it IS bigger than a DVD-9 which the 360 version used, a single layer Blu-Ray disc is 25GB.

Haven't picked it up yet, on the 360 granted. I'm too poor of a college students for $60 games. I'm still psyched for the Be A Pro mode though.

It's not what he may or may not support; it's his attitude that he is somehow entitled to revenue beyond the initial sale, which is patently ridiculous.

The only difference between Braben and the auto industry is that the former is stupid enough to say it out loud. Don't some car companies certify used cars now? I'm sure they get a chunk of cash from there.

Is Mr. Braben calling for outlawing of reselling games? I didn't read that, so what is everybody going on about?

He said it's damaging to single player only games. Which it is. That doesn't equate to "I THINK IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!"

It's rather pathetic the lows in reading comprehension that is seen on any issue here that's remotely controversial.
