You know I think they are jealous of HL2 and its vaporware awareness.

I want to start a marketing firm specializing in vaporware mindshare.

Are. Hurricanes and Tornados are plural.

Exactly. Just like, "Which are better: The Redskins or the Giants?" (Answer: The Redskins)

The skiing doesn't feel like skiing it's more like sliding on a slippery surface activated with your spacebar (as in total lack of control, especially side to side) Did these guys even "try" to emulate the Tribes 1 feel, no! They went out and tried to do something "different", well guess what guys - you can't improve on perfection and Tribes 1 was it.

I played T1 a little and T2 a lot, and I really wish the hardcore T1 whingers would disappear in a black hole. They have a T1 obsession because it was their first Tribes experience, not because it was "perfection". They sound just like the monomaniacs who hated Quake 2 because it didn't play like QuakeWorld.

I've been looking forward to Tribes Vengeance more than I have to any other FPS in years, and I hope it plays nothing like T1 just to spite the T1 fascists.

It seems like the days of "GG" and "nice shot" are gone.

I play a lot of Halo multiplayer, and I see "gg" and "nice shot" all the time. Admittedly, I see stuff like "your mom is a fag" a lot, too.

The study suggests that sedentary behaviors like TV watching and video-gaming may increase the liklihood that a kid gets fat. The people who find this shocking or offensive seem to lack common sense. Riker had the most appropriate reaction: "You mean to tell me that sitting on the couch all day as opposed to being active can result in obesity?!? SOMEBODY GET ME THE PRESIDENT ON THE PHONE!"

The researchers did not argue that video games send subliminal messages to make kids eat junk food, nor did they argue that "it's always someone else's fault." They simply said that "the use of electronic games should be limited to prevent childhood obesity." Presumably, they mean that parents should limit their kids' game time. Why is that crazy talk?

You seem not to have read or understood any part of the article, but you describe the researchers as "morons" and "idiots". Pots and kettles ...

Damn corporate suits and their stupidity.

Too bad the savants who comment here don't run all the game companies.

Halsy: "Ended the cold war? Regan PROLONGED the cold war. The Soviet Union would have ended much sooner were it not for the gipper and his stupid 'evil empire' cowboy politicking."

Tell it to the Russians, none of whom agree with a word of that. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A20764-2004Jun6.html

"Regan [sic] prolonged the cold war" may be the most amusingly groundless assertion I've ever read about the late President.

"He was also the one who cut servicing the debt to 60%, ran up a massive deficit, high unemployment and greatly increased poverty."

Unemployment, the poverty rate, interest rates and inflation all dropped under Reagan. The economy experienced the then-longest peace-time expansion since the end of WWII.

"Don't forget Iran Contra. After Nicaragua took the U.S. to the world court and won their case when America was endicted for terrorism, what was Regan's response? They dismissed the ruling out of hand and escalated the war."

And when the war ended, the Nicaraguans overwhelmingly elected the party identifed with the Contras. But who cares what the Nicaraguan people themselves thought. According to the way leftists and Democrats think, that just makes the Nicaraguans wrong.

"Anyone that would celebrate that mass murderer may as well toast Hitler while they're at as well."

It's interesting that Reagan is/was popular among Eastern Europeans who suffered under both Nazi and Soviet oppression. Maybe they understand his place in history better than you.

Men's habits, not biology, cause early death

The writer and the people she quotes seem not to have considered that biology influences one's habits. E.g., there will probably never be as many women as men riding (and crashing) motorcycles. "Gender roles" are not purely social constructs.

Doesn't "yoink" imply some kind of theft? It's their patch, so Ubisoft didn't yoink it, they yanked it.

ildon: Oh yeah and the fact that without CS they would have sold about 5% as many copies of HL.

I suspect the reverse true: CS owes a great deal of its popularity to the fact that it's a HL mod. In other words, if CS had instead been a Q3A mod, I don't think Q3A sales would have increased 20-fold.

I know lots of people who played Half-Life. I don't know any who bought it primarily to play CS.

ildon: Oh, and please never call TFC "TF1" again or I will stab you.

This QuakeWorld TF and Q3F player thanks you.

Furious: "What an asshole."

nin: "Pretty much. He's either that out of touch with the PC market, or he's lying out his ass (I vote the latter).

Enahs: "Todd is to busy eating ho ho’s and other fat/sugar/cholesterol laden foods to bother with coop. He is a jackhole for saying this, a jackhole I tell you."

Does anyone know if there's a big difference between console gamers' and pc gamers' expectations about the presence of co-op? Maybe Hollenshead is right. I have a hunch that id understands its market better than the average Blue's reader.

In any event, the quoted responses are ridiculously angry. Hollenshead might be wrong, but that wouldn't make him a lying, gluttonous asshole. If you get this bent out of shape about an absent game feature, how do you react when something seriously bad happens?

Don't think so. http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/ doesn't move at all. Looks like a static bunch of black yellow blue and white ovals arranged in a circular pattern. Doesn't have any optical illusions at all. Totally devoid of movement. He made up the one that moves. Maybe http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/ works for japanese people ...

Turn on your monitor.

The developer's wry description of "You Are Empty" seems to suggest that the in-game history isn't very "alternate". The intro graphic reinforces the point.

Warlords Battlecry II was Warcraft 3 before anyone even heard of Warcraft 3

'zactly! WBII was a great game.

WBIII screenshots make it look like they may not have nailed the transition to 3D units, though.
