Oh no, Path of Exile 2 is starting to look like fun. This does not bode well for my arthritis.

I imagine a big software company without a CEO doesn't operate very well, so you're just hiring another CEO immediately at probably the same price or more.
Cut salaries for everyone at the top, so the highest earner only gets 3x what the lowest earner gets. They could retain all those workers *and* give them a payrise.

I played a ton on release and a bit in season 1, then just asked myself, "Why do I keep playing this game?" Since this week has boosted experience and gold and I'm sitting around bored while off from work, I loaded it up, made a druid, walked around town for 5 minutes and said, "Why am I doing this again?" and logged off.
My experience precisely.

Star Citizen has become a meta game. You play it by getting on forums and arguing about it, or possibly white knighting it if sunk cost fallacy has a strong enough hold on you. We are playing it right now.

Maybe the true Star Citizens were the friends we scammed along the way?

The game has been hard for me to follow as someone who has only able to come back in spurts. I have given up understanding all the shit they have changed and deleted. And they have made absolutly zero attempts to gain new users.
The last time I tried to get into Destiny 2 I hit a brick wall early on because the earlier story content - stuff you need if you want to have even the faintest clue about what's happening now - has been vaulted. It's like they don't want new players.

Ultimately, it's a question of how to keep a game going while keeping yourself in business. Would people prefer a subscription, paid DLC, or pay2win mechanics in a non-F2P game? Or would they prefer game support is dropped and the dev move on to a new full priced game?
^ this sums it up well. Paradox does release a *lot* of DLC for games like Stellaris, but they also keep updating the base game for free with new mechanics and content. I'd much rather have their DLC model than a battlepass.

Probably sets a bad precedent but I'd pay $ to have those load times fixed!

The load/injection times, and the inability to save mid-mission, are Roguetech's biggest drawbacks.

This is the kind of game I should be excited for, but many of the ship models look terrible. It feels like the designer saw a boat once and just filled in the blanks from memory.

All I'd really need from a Battletech sequel would be a more robust and flexible platform for modders to work with. I have over 1,000 hours in Battletech, and I'd estimate 98% of them are with the Roguetech mod.

So now they're incentivizing game developers for *not* upgrading to the next version of Unity? Great business plan.

This made me laugh. How do you make a "sim" of giant stompy battlemechs? 😜

You could argue that technically it isn't a *real* simulator, but the Mechwarrior franchise has always been about creating an experience that *feels* like a simulator.

Even if they roll this policy back completely, a lot of devs now regard Unity as an unstable platform. What a mess.

Nexus is a private site, they can choose what they want to host and what they don't. If anyone doesn't like it, they can download their mods elsewhere.

I loved MW2 when it was first released, enjoyed MW3 and 4, and am a fan of HBS' Battlech game (with mods), but couldn't stand MW5: Dreadful mission design, horrible writing and acting, sound design that totally failed to capture the scale of the conflict, and underwhelming mech customisation options. I have no faith in this company's ability to create a good linear campaign.

"Next Month"? That seems fast for something that must involve a lot of rejigging of existing architecture. Either they started working on this months ago, or they've had it in the holster for years. Either way, it feels like someone at Bliz/Act hit the panic button.

I've been a steady OW player since launch, but I finally quit a couple of weeks ago. OW2's monetisation is horrendous, the new 5v5 leads to many more one-sided games, and the playerbase has reached Chernobyl levels of toxicity. There's still a good game in there, but the fun-to-frustration ratio has shifted to a point where I'm happier without OW2 in my life.

Since it's still early access, I can play around with the character creator until it releases. My friends that I played DOS2 with were hyped for this a couple of years ago, but given their attention spans, they've probably forgotten about it. I don't think they'd like it anyway.
I loved DOS1&2, was super-hyped when I heard that Larian was doing BG, and bought into early access as soon as it began.
Now? Now I'm *still* super-hyped, and August can't come soon enough. I played EA for a few months and then decided to wait until launch, but every update and all the patch notes show constant improvement and refinement. The devs have an excellent vision for the game, but they're also not too proud to take player feedback and improve the experience for everyone.

Wait. We are talking about Oxygen Not Included here, right? Haven't they been releasing updates on a semi-regular basis? I mean, I have several hundred hours in the game, and I know there is plenty of stuff I have never touched...

No, we're talking about "Oni" - as in the demonic creature of Japanese folklore. It was released in 2001 for PS2, Mac and PC, and was a 3rd person brawler/shooter heavily inspired by Ghost in the Shell. Had some cool ideas and solid combat, but apparently they went through development hell to ship it and the final product was a fraction of what they had hoped for.

Also, why is no-one talking about Myth? I put more hours into Myth 1 & 2 than any other Bungie game.
