I will say that what they've built in the time frame they had is amazing. EA announced this at E3 2014 and I don't think they got the rights to it very much sooner. It could have been in the works sooner than when they announced it but at best I don't see how they could have had more than a year and a half to make this.

The game is the best you could hope to get in that short a time frame.

It's still not worth $60 but that is only because the market is way to competitive to allow it. With games like Destiny getting "rereleased" this year again, fallout 4, assassin's creed, call of duty, etc all coming out those $60 are fiercely contested and this game doesn't stand up to other games at the same price point.

It will be very interesting to see how long the $60 price point holds. There is enough excitement around the new movie that this game could sell like gang busters between now and the new movies release and even a bit after.

I'll bet EA is going to hold that price high in hopes that fans of the movie will come pouring in as we get closer to release.

Getting it out the door before the movie is 2,400% the driving factor. If they were short on time, someone goofed. This is the biggest game company securing the rights to the biggest franchise property. No room for amature management.

Fantastic graphics. Too bad it's multiplayer...ugh. How about a reboot of Knights of the Old Republic using this engine?

Ya I did the open beta buy me ad. The graphics are indeed gorgeous.

I just didn't like the popcorn nature of the NPC stormtroopers. Weave back and forth while spraying in their general direction and they die.

I dunno, button mashing feels tired and leaves me cold these past few years. I see a placeable turret and want a dozen to put in high areas and sit back and watch, but I only get one off a drop ship.

Not one of the goodies is permanent, which is disappointing. Especially when last year's had a rebuilt raid, a mount and a pet.

Yeah, the stuff I had this morning, everything had charges. Don't want folks having too much fun, right????

What rustles my murloc outfit is why are things like fireworks so lame? Why not massive shows?

Ironic given Mac people have to wait up to a year for even the most popular PC games to be ported.

Well, used to. Now both wait for console games to be ported.

You don't think there is a monetary interest in keeping their games bot free? I know lots of folks who are frustrated with botting in Diablo, so I wouldn't be surprised if many of them didn't buy the expansion because of it. I don't play WoW or HoTS, but I'd imagine it would be similar.

Now that there's no auction house, how does botting in Diablo affect anyone? (Assuming we're talking about D3.)

Even free games generally have paid cosmetics. Same deal, if you lose customers, you lose out there too.

Eh, I guess I can sort of see that. For them to claim it's ten million bucks worth of damages is ridiculous though. How many F2P users do you need to get even a million bucks worth of cosmetic stuff?

I'm surprised anyone would have an issue with Blizzard suing a bot maker.

They can sue whoever they want, I don't care. I just find the spurious claims that it cost them "millions or tens of millions of dollars in revenue" to be ridiculous.

Well, every time a 14 year old or a 37 year old is seduced by a botmaker, their account is cancelled, which mens loss of the WoW monthly, at a minimum. They may be able to sue the botmaker for attemting to interfere with their license agreement which may count as a contract.

Yes it is partly the player's fault, but you can't offer rewards for queering someone else's contract either. I am not saying they would, or shoud win, but there are legal paths open.

I still find the mouse much easier to use than a touch screen. If someone can come up with something clever you can use on a sofa or bed or standing around, there's a huge market!

And here's to the memory of my great-uncle Bob, who was a combat soldier in World War II, and actually participated in the Battle of the Bulge, though I don't know any more details about his service.

And here's to my great uncle Rudy, in exactly the same boat. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He also had a silver star, among other medals. I don't know what for.

It is betting on the outcomes of sporting events. That it does so in a complicated way does not change this.

Poker, too, involves skill other than determining direct odds, but still qualifies.

The only question is whether they have enough voting participants to strike fear into politicians. Is it a coincidence this happened right after an election?

If you are concerned about the survival of the human race, shouldn't you avoid going out and killing thousands? Just let the dictatorships and warlordism preserve survival for the genome?

I feel like I should give it another whirl before the end. I haven't played since a year after launch. I would like to see how it has changed since then. I wonder if my toon still exists. He would still be at level 60.

The most recent Draenor expansion is a ton of fun. Beyond the usual mission chains, you secure a fortress base for yourself, and then a small outpost in each different land.

If anything, there wasn't enough of that. I figured out how to trigger precisely one invasion of my fort.

This was the first time I resubscribed since Cataclysm, which I never finished, except for a couple of months here and there.

You get one instant 90 character, so you can start the expansion immediately. I used it to clone my 85, which I had pumped up from 70 (? Can't remember, resubbed briefly a few times) a few weeks earlier prior to the release.

I was really hoping this stretch goal would fail so they could concentrate on the single player aspects. Wasn't really looking for a PvP experience with this.

Thanks, me either. There's already a PvP-oriented Mechwarrior flop out there.

Where's the damned PvE game? "Going for PvP" means they've given up on investing time in PvE missions, easy to do once basic combat is established. Shove it out the door.

2. Human DNA found in hot dogs.

Ergo your own body causes you cancer even if you do nothing.

Advancements saw awesome games like StarCraft: Brood War and WarCraft III

I would submit the experimental changes to Warcraft III to be part of what is killing the genre.

Warcraft III bucked the trend, brought on by increasing computer power, of more and more units, and tried to shoehorn in not just hero units but also, and perhaps more terminally, "upkeep" to prevent you from having too many units at once.

It tried to turn the RTS into some kind of hero unit-lead, squad-based game. Perhaps that kind of thing lead to the popular MOBA genre, or was trying to ape it, but it sure wasn't an RTS anymore, but closer to some kind of twitchy action game.

Part of RTS strategy is "getting out ahead" of your opponent, especially the computer one, both in terms of number of units built and tech tree. That was always where the joy was to me, and then engaging in strategy.

WC III always had the feel designers didn't get that, and indeed saw that kind of play as a flaw in need of correction.

From the most recent video on YouTube, it doesn't look like the planet is rotating as that giant space station is in orbit around it. It should be visibly moving, if very slowly.

1. Is it actually orbiting and you need to be there a few minutes to see it?

2. Even cooler, do the weather patterns in the gas giant slowly change over days?

So Daisy does not have a lightsaber in this movie. Though they suggest one with her staff in parallel with, indeed overlapping, the bad guy's beam. She's way too cute for that to suggest she is the series' ultimate bad guy.
