Automated drivers will be left immobilized and screaming at there dash boards. There can be no full automation until the entire system is on some kind of AI grid. Driving is a freedom, a right of passage that will not be relinquished until I am dead and gone.StaTik wrote on Feb 1, 2025, 21:11:The only reason we have to watch for that is to prepare for something, defensive driving. A good enough AI would just react fast enough, it didn't matter WHY someone did something, or if they did something without warning. Example, someone pissed (or trying to cause an accident for fraud reasons) and going in front of you and slamming their brakes, AI would react fast enough to avoid hitting them. So none of that above is needed.
Driving is as much a socal exercise as it is physical. The art of driving is watching other drivers head movements and anticipateing there actios. Almost instantly surmising if the drivers around the you are aggressive or cautious. Watching for courtios gestures and ass hats. We are light years from AI being able to process subtile socal interactions.
In short it will not happen in my life time thank God.
As mere humans we watch for that, when someone passes us fast and immediately zoom into our lane, and we get ready to brake, because it's not easy to react fast enough if not prepared and they are close.
