Over the last few years EA has been steadily increasing it's hold over the gaming market, and this has got to be it's boldest move yet. No more NFL games from anyone but EA? I'm sick to my stomach.

A boycott is the answer but unrealistic...little Johnny will just HAVE TO HAVE the new Madden 2006. But in the end it's the gamers that are going to suffer from the lack of quality, innovation, and craftmanship that will be going into their football games for the next 5 years.

Personally, I haven't bought an EA game since they destroyed the Bond franchise a few years back. Friggin bastards. Someone important better step up and stop this move or who knows what they'll do next.

Nobody stopped caring about DNF, everyone on this board wants to play it as badly as D3 and HL2. When we played the original DN3D it was such an action trip that nowadays when we hear about it's sequel we immediately associate all those good vibes from the 1st.

The stark reality is that if 3Drealms continues to "develop" DNF, there will never be a DN sequel. Which is really too bad.

Which leads me back to my original post. If 3Drealms and George B had an ounce of intelligence, they'd sell the DN rights to a developer that could turn it around in 2 years, and we'd all be happy.

But they won't, so instead we get to gripe about it, which is nearly as fun

The saddest part of the whole DNF fiasco is that DN3D was such a cool game, and we'd all love to get our hands on a sequel. That's why posts from GB piss us all off, bcs we see him as the guy standing in the way.

Someone should buy the rights from 3DRealms and do the sequel for the fans, instead of these retards at the helm.

A 7-year-and-counting development cycle? Who are they kidding? id developed Doom 3 from scratch in 4 years and counting .. c'mon 3DRealms, sell it off already and let a real developer bring back old Duke from the dead.

I miss the banter of the good old days of Quake

"When I was a boy, all people played Quake online and chatted and all was beautiful."

People also used to walk 2-miles uphill to school, both ways no less. Or so I hear

Glad I missed that one, but from the looks of this review it was quite a treat!

It's really no excuse tho. Charging people $50 to beta test your game is a sham, and they should have done a more thorough test before release.

But gotta meet those quarterly reports!

UT2K4 might be a polished UT2K3, but even the orig release of UT2K3 was more polished then either of the BF series. In fact, I haven't bought a game in years that even comes close to the bugginess of the BF series, and I played thru Halo on the PC

..and if that doesn't work you should re-format and then re-install your OS. Afterall, it couldn't be another buggy EA game, could it?!

Yeah, how about finishing Half Life 2 first, and *then* start thinking about the future.

..but rather EA's frantic push to get it out the door, bugs N all. Seeing how BF1942 is still pretty riddled w/sound bugs, graphics glitches and freezing problems, does it surprise anyone?

That's why I'm all for id's policy of it's done when its done, with media blackout included. The developers get the time they need to release a polished product worth the $50.

Yeah, but opening ALL your ports to the net? That's crazy talk. You're just asking for trouble when ya do that...

Most games will doc the port that's used by default in a README somewhere, and those peeps servin' to other ports probably didn't want you playing there anyways.

That's usually pretty easy to setup. You just configure the router to tunnel the port your serving on to the same port on your local PC...make sure to give your local PC a static IP address, and voila.
