Is it truly Steam blocking regions or the publisher?

Yeah but the real problem is militarized cops overreacting as usual. That needs to stop, like yesterday. A lot of those clowns just have a hardon for getting to play Rambo for a while.

Where is there overreacting here? It's not like they blew a hole in the side of the house... They received a call about someone harming people and responded..

And what, pray tell, does any claim about Macs and viruses have to do with a trojan?
To the extent that an OS can protect itself, Mac OS X and other *nix based systems seem to be better equiped
than Windows, especially to many peoples beloved XP.
Well for me, I am referring to the average end user/ non-techy customer.... The ones that don't know or understand the differences.... The ones that see everything more as malware and whatnot.. The average person doesn't know the difference between trojans, viruses, bots, adware, etc....
I have had plenty of these type of people come back after the fact with MAC "issues" such as compatibility with websites and the lack of software/not understanding that the windows software on the shelf won't work with the MAC OS.
As SectorEffector mentioned, and I agree with, MACs DO have the use... My problem is with the general user base that is growing because they DON'T understand computers and just hear "MACs don't crash, MACs don't get viruses, etc" These are the people that just basically hear. "MACs don't have any problems".. These are the people that I deal with as customers on a daily basis... MACs don't have all of the PC problems, but they do have their own problems...

I don't have a big problem with MAC's in general, especially if you are getting one for what they were designed for... graphic design and other "creative" aspects.. (although, Windows PC's HAVE made huge strides in these areas as well).. I do think that MAC's are overpriced for basic use though and they STILL have compatibility issues with some websites which can come back and bite some people...
I DO have an issue with the Apple hype machine though... The people who say: "MACs never crash, MACs can never get viruses, MACs have superior hardware, etc...."
It's an electronic device... EVERY electronic device can have problems... I have crashed my MAC multiple times... and that was when I was only using it for Final Cut.... I have had to format and reload it multiple times since I've owned, replace hardware, and gotten the grey wheel of death... I don't hate MACs by any means, but I do think that many people who buy them are buying them for the wrong reasons...

Yeah, I enjoyed the book a lot.. Couple of slow things, but still good IMO. Only problem was it made me want the game more... Plus I'm a big fan of Red Dawn, so the next week and a half is going to suck...

It's too bad they didn't stick with this theme for the multiplayer, where are all these tanks and air strikes coming from if the US military is decimated.

Ah well, it is what it is, the book does sound like a fun read.
Spoilered
I believe that all of the drones were developed and brought over by NK.
Goliath was a US prototype
Just because the US shrunk it's standing army, doesn't mean they had a yard sale with the equipement. The equipment was still around and the NK's snatched most of it... It's mentioned in the book as well that when they started expanding before the attack, they started trainign their soldiers on US equipment... This was also why they didn't need to bring over a lot of heavy equipment themselves right away...

The story is really weird. North Korea manages to take over South Korea, China, Japan, and other countries, before invading the USA. If they somehow invented a super powerful technology before doing so (Nanobots! Super mech walkers! Deflector shields!), then it would make more sense.. but the info so far suggests they just got.... really angry. Anger is power!
Just finished the book for this game and it fleshes out the back story pretty decently.... This isn't something where the NK's just wake up one day and say let's invade, there was a lot of planning and a lot of things going wrong in America at the time that helped it along... Some more details as I rememebr them...
Spoilered
  • The US economy takes a much larger dump than it has been.
  • Due to the economy, gas jumps to $20/gallon, which helps result in huge unemployment as people can't afford to get to work.
  • Due to the economy, the US miltary has huge cutbacks and pulls out of almost all oversea areas and shrinks it's standing army
  • NK unites with SK and over time become one of the only nations with a decent economy and the major exportor of new technology
  • They use this and start to slowly take over other areas near them... Since China was relying on the US for econmoy and we stopped buying things, their economy is in the toilet as well
  • The NK lauch some huge cyber attacks on the US when they are ready. Since many PC components are from them, they have built in back doors. They use this to help cripple the military infrastructure.
  • They then hit the US with a massive EMP blast, destroying the majority of electronic components... No cars, no lights, not a single luxury..... Like Robinson Crusoe it's as primitive as can be! But, really lots off things are bad.. no cars for transport, no electricty, so hospitals and everything else is screwed, and total loss of all communications... no cell phones, land lines, radio, tv, etc.... So even if the miltary was at 100% there is no way to communicate... Plus since everyone is down, there is no way for the average person to know if it's local or in a larger area.
  • they then come in on the West coast and spread from there, but do not try to take over the whole country

It may not actually be a "flat". You may just need air.... In the cold, the air inside a tire can contract causing it to lose pressure and appear flat... Try filling it up with air first...

They go under, they tell stores to stop carrying the game.
That assumes they actually told the stores to stop selling the game.
Based on the way they've been handling themselves, I doubt it.

I thought everyone was fired, so who's left to tell?

Well here's the real test. Is APB still being sold at Gamestop/EBgames?

I know for a fact that it is on walmart's shelves. saw it tonight.

As for the refunds, not going to happen. Steam has already said no, and as mentioned, noone takes opened box returns for games.

I hope this game has horrible sales and sends a loud and clear message to Ubi that this type of DRM will never be tolerated.

No sale for me either!

No, all that will happen is that Ubi will say "See there is no demand for sub sims, we are going to stop them".....

A friend of mine went to apply a few years back and they offered a ridiculously low wage, but it seems that this was ok because if there weren't any questions he was told to go play the video games and such.....So you're not far off.

When the pay is low, so is the quality of employee and then customer service suffers and it is all downhill from there. Many companies just don't realize it until it's too late and the people making these decisions are making big bucks which get bigger when they save money on wages, so even in a CC type case, they make out...
