News Comments > Still No Medal of Honor on U.S. Bases
6. Re: Still No Medal of Honor on U.S. Bases Oct 6, 2010, 12:18 Nighthawk

This really only affects deployed troops, since anyone back home can just go to best buy or wherever and pick it up retail...or digitally.
And realistically, if someone in KAF wants it bad enough, it will get delivered there.

6. Re: Team 17 Goes Digital-Only Aug 30, 2010, 16:59 Nighthawk

With all the going digital (which I am half against, I like my CD/DVD's) trends, has anyone noticed if the prices have been affected??
No mass production, no printed booklets, box, shipping..should seriously drop the purchasing price.
(away for quick check, steam vs best buy online)
Well, $10 less on Fallout 3 GOTY, and $10 MORE on Just Cause 2.
I'll let the details speak for themselves

Complaining about the lack of realism and then quoting mythbusters isn't really helping your case much.
Name a competitive Valve game where the bullets go exactly where you aim them, damage isn't determined by a random number generator, and who hit whom isn't determined by a complex algorithm designed to compensate for ping.
Has nothing to do with drop rates, even the best marksman cannot hit the same location of a target with a single round.
Translate that into CS scenarios...
Movement, weight, heart rate, breathing, all affect where a round will hit, even a stationary shooter and target.
Long range shots (200m and more) are affected my wind.
If I was going to say anything I would say that valve is MORE realistic than the others.

All that being said...where do you think the money is made, on the 10% (probably high) of market that is competive gaming of the 90% of casual gamers looking for entertainment.
I would invest in the latter, the numbers don't lie.

So I'm guessing when he's not trolling the blues forums he's a weapons expert (NO bullets go where they aim, except maybe sniper rifles, mostly) and reversed engineered all of valves games...

How's YOUR game doing? Because valves has 129,126 people playing CS, CS:S, TF2, legally, according to steam's "Current Players" number, not counting the losers that play pirated versions.

Maybe you should step up before taking someone else down

We need more people like this, want to make video games because they LOVE video games, look at the classics, the good games were made by those who love...and it shows.
Or at least thats how it seemed...

Haha, I wish he could read all this, there is nothing quite like a cult following.
I say good for him, glad to see him keeping in touch with his fanbase

Should I be the one to point out that its a freaking game?
Crying over a couple days?
Let me introduce you to something, its called outside, go visit it sometime and stop whining about some stupid delay, or torrent.

And you pirates, go to hell, its stealing, no matter how you try to justify.

Finally someone is starting to get it.
I can't say I've ever played the game, however with the quality of games to tie into movies, not that it is a bad idea, being crap,I would like to see either a decline in production, or improvement in quality.

Though I wouldn't call it a tie-in per se, I'm looking forward to trying batman.

News Comments > Massive Ad Deal
12. Re: EA's Massive Ad Deal Aug 29, 2009, 16:35 Nighthawk

StingingVelvet - The issue isn't the ads themselves, it's the introduction of them, and the income that should be displacing dev costs is not being passed down to the consumer.
So as consumers we're getting these ads, when we never did, and are getting no compensation for it.
Personally, I try to keep away from EA as much as possible, the unfortunate part is that they have some good IP under their wing, so I have to give them money sometimes.

Any "leader" that bets against his own team is no leader I'd like to work for, it will be interesting to see the exodus of staff in the near future.
Bad or good idea, a leader should back their team, everytime.

the best example of ideal DLC was total annihilation, a new unit a week. It did not cost ANY microsoft points, playstation dollars or whateverthehell You want to call it.
Something substantial is fine for a few bucks, and I'm thinking expansion pack substantial, personally I like having the CD/DVD around, and am finding the disappearing discs distressing, but if I'm forced to buy a damn microsoft point card to get the other fallout packs, I will.

The bottom line, is paid DLC should be balanced with free DLC like we used to have, fallout expansion? sure, horse armour? not really.

It's funny to see all the bitching about them trying to protect their baby.
I think this sucks, but anyone with their head not up their butt should have seen it coming.
Battle net worked in the past, and it WILL decrease piracy in this, and diablo when it comes out, cheaters too, blizzard is known for the ban hammer on cheaters, and this should make things very clear.
