I'm bored of this. All of the media that DE and other game sites have been pushing since May and beforehand has started to make me less interested in the game, particularly when a lot of new and unique games have come out in the meantime. I won't say it'll be another daikatana by ANY means, since I'm pretty sure it's actually close to being done, but I think that the constant media spotlight on the game and pushback of release dates (especially for a demo) does little other than annoy gamers who want something new and refreshing to play. When this demo is released, I hope it will be bug-free and running well on a wide range of machines, or else it might not be as well-received as it could be.

They sure did fix those minor bugs -- I went from "hearing heartbeats instead of cutscenes" to "Runtime Error in TheThing.exe" Thanks Vivendi for another great rush-out-the-door release!

<edit>
Well, after a hearty reinstallation and reconfiguration, I got it to run. It's much better now that I can actually hear speaking in the cutscenes instead of a loud heartbeat

For EVERYONE whos getting those drop to desktop errors and refuse to go back to the MP demo thread -- YOU HAVE TO RUN THIS GAME AT 60HZ!!! Go to your monitor settings in the control panel, OR, if you're running NVRefresh, make sure that your 800x600 resolution is set to be at 60hz.

As per lag -- I have a cable modem, a decent connection for being a client to a game. This is by far the laggiest game I ever played. I play Tribes2 on 32 person servers without lag, and I have an athlon xp 1900+ w/768mb ram and a geforce4 ti4600 -- for some reason, I don't think that "Hardware Lag" is my problem.

The copy I got from 3DGamers doesn't seem to work. When I try and launch it I get a little Windows alert sound and then it drops back to the desktop. Yay. =l

Same thing happened to me -- at least my computer isn't completely retarted.

Being a Tribes junkie myself, I think that they're taking some reasonable steps to avoid future mistakes, as well as to try to atone for their past ones. I'm not sure of what sort of impact this re-release will have on the tribes community, but I don't believe that Tribes: Fast Attack would have done much other than split the community into the "Fast attack" group and the "regular tribes2" group (not to mention the split already in the community between base++ and base)

I really look forward to teamrabbit2 though, that sounds like a good time.

WAIT A DARN SECOND!

Wasn't 3DR quoted as saying that they weren't going to produce a demo for this game because of it being more of a "budget title"? Or am I thinking of another game from another company....hmmm

While I'm not a linux junkie, the fact that blizzard and sierra agreed to let someone (Sam) write the patch shows a bit of heart from both companies. I really respect that, and hope this puts some more linux gamers back on the servers.

It's good to see some fruits of the GarageGames labours. Sadly, I won't be able to test this unless it becomes league legal, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. Unfortunately the number of non-league players dwindles day-by-day, so I'd be surprised to see a lot of people testing it out (unless they do a whole other install to test the patch, as one guy in our tribe is).

This is definitely my favorite game to date -- I've never played a game consistently since the day it came out before T2.
