Of course there is a demo. It will cost $50-$60 and be released on Nov 11. If you like the demo you can upgrade to the full game for free! If you don't like the demo well that is just too bad for you, thanx for the money.

If you don't like the demo, you can wait for the community to mod the game to a graphical state that is worthy of being branded a modern PC title.

OMG....seriously, who would want to spend $195 on ancient id games. I could see maybe 1 or 2 of them just for old-times' sake,

Also, Steam could try putting the REAL "Released" dates on that web page instead of "August 2007" to give potential buyers some extra perspective.

That examiner.com site has some really annoying popups (and the potential for malware I suppose if someone isn't careful in what they are clicking).

Sites like that should not be linked from BN. (and for the most part, they are not, which is why I thought I'd point this one out)

So am I to assume that this one does not have the absolutely asstastic 30-minute time limit of the previous "demo"?

GTA IV is definitely the benchmark and I'll be very impressed (and pleasantly surprised) if they can surpass it.

Are you being sarcastic?

I wouldn't exactly call GTA IV a "benchmark", unless you want to call it a benchmark for how NOT to port something to the PC.

Ultra long load times (even on the fastest of machines) and no FSAA support take a lot of points off what could have potentially been THE PC game to own.

So who do I call when my cheap piece-of-shit vinyl is broken in the packaging?

Well young whippersnapper, hop up on my knee and I'll tell you about the old days. There was a time when all music was on cheap piece-of-shit vinyl, and none of it was ever broken in the packaging, which consisted of cardboard sleeves.

Kids will probably think it's a frisbee and that LP stands for "Long Phlight" or something.

If anything, I would just buy from Steam. Don't need to be taking up the shelf space.

(but if they still don't support FSAA, I won't be buying anyway)

They're a business, and they want to make money. What's wrong with that? It's the American way.

I have absolutely no problem with any of their pay services. In fact, it's very nice, and comforting, to know that you can parlay all of the time and effort you put into a particular toon into a different sex, name, server, and now faction.

I agree that no AA is a HUGE drawback. I mean, what the hell is wrong with developers like Rock Star and Epic. Seemingly every other game supports AA.

9. Re: WoW Character Re-Customization Dec 11, 2008, 15:50 jomisab

There should also be a requirement that your character (or perhaps account) be free of any significant, and substantiated, complaints.

What a previous poster said about people being able to hide from their past is a big concern.

News Comments > WoW Paid Customization Coming
21. Re: What's the monthly subscription for?! Oct 12, 2008, 19:58 jomisab

Well, the last time I checked, Blizzard is a for-profit business. When I create a toon, I spend a lot of time agonizing over the little details of his/her appearance. It's not like they're letting people pay real money for better weapons or armor...it's all pretty harmless, and I'm sure overall, it's not going to amount to any significant percentage of their income.

10. Cablevision? Aug 29, 2008, 08:28 jomisab

Are we to assume you have Cablevision? I have Optimum Online with the Boost service and never drop below 30Mbps down / 5Mbps up. Comcast can't even compete...not that they have to I suppose, and that's kind of a shame.
