Ive witnessed the degeneration of Blizzard for quite some years in WoW, and now it seems it has arrived in their other games.
I really dont understand that. How are they going to explain that to the Koreans?
Seriously, if they are that stupid, they deserve the consequences.

you can basically tell if this game is for you the first time you stand on a mountain side looking over the landscape where you can see for miles, where forests, plains, villages and cities are all visible. If the knowledge that you can reach any and all of those places and have completely unscripted and unpredictable engagements over and over in all of the makes your inner nerd laugh with such delight that all of the legitimate complaints about control, complexity, stability, and bugs henceforth fall on deaf ears, then this game is for you.
That was exactly the situation I fell in love with this series.
It was in OFP after I climbed up a forested mountain and when I got up there I just stood there with my jaw dropping and falling down the mountain.
But since it was a multiplayer mission, I got shot in the head by a sniper 20 secs later while still gasping at the scenery.

Its true, there are some real arrogant players and clans out there but thats nothing unusual in any game. Be happy that you dont have to play on european servers (because they are far worse) and wait until all the kids who cant comprehend anything more complex than Call of Duty are gone and spout their "wisdom" about this game into forums. As you can see its already starting here too.

Jerryk, lots of them did. But its a long time since such games were released and most of them simply dont want to play challenging and complex games anymore. Who can blame them after years of dumbed down (BUT SHINY!) console crap.

Love it. Now I just need them to fix the voice over with some real ones or a fan made sound pack, and I am a happy panda.

This and Fort Apocalypse were one of the first games I played on a C64. I tried em a while back on an emulator, but they arent as much fun anymore. I guess there would be nice on a mobile phone or Nintendo DS, though.

Funnily, Ive read a lot of critics and other threads about this game and there are only very few people who actually have technical issues after 1.01 with ArmA 2. The vast majority who bought this game enjoy it very much.
Most people actually say that it is far less buggy and far more playable than ArmA 1 ever was until 1.12 and I agree 100% with them.
Your problems have another reason. Maybe ignorance, or a crappy computer or youre indeed only a simple troll.

I just don't get it, they keep releasing bug filled games, one after another, people keep buying them, even though the previous game is a mess, and turn around and tell them 'good job'.

*scratches his head*

I wonder what happened to the folks at Taldren.

Honestly?
I cared a lot about bugs 10 years ago. But have you looked at PC games lately? They are all fucking console ports, simple as shit and short as hell. Lots of them dont even support proper customizable controls.

This game is a true PC game in quite some time, and I give a fuck if its buggy or not. Its still playable (especially the multiplayer and editor are fucking awesome) and nowhere near as bad as some reviews claim it to be. BIS has proven before that they care a lot for their games and patch them up. Also BIS is a very small company and they still do some of the now very few most complex games out there (yeah pretty sad).

Another big reason I still support them and buy their games, even if bugged, is they still do their games with a lot of effort and devotion. You actually notice that they like doing their games. I dont notice that in most console ports at all.
Also they are listening to their community. And ALSO they dont implement DRMs.

I really hope that those 20 gb mean a lot of content and not just graphics, sounds & videos. I expect lots more hours out of it than I got out of NWN2 and a bazillion more than I got out of Mass Effect.

28. Re: Why No Ghostbusters PC MP Jun 18, 2009, 03:55 Muscular Beaver

I dont care if its $20 cheaper than normally, a PC game that doesnt even have as many features as the already overly simple console version, isnt even worth any more words from me.

WTF, PC games used to have MUCH MUCH more features and were far more complex and challenging than ANYTHING on the console. Look at what happened. Thats like Porsche only doing fucking compact cars with diesels (and no, I dont want to imply that Threewave or Atari is Porsche).

So does anyone play it already or are you guys just bashing each others heads in for political bullshit?

Does it still feel like a bad try to copy CS (incl. cheater base), or does it feel more massive now?

Then they will whine again how few copies were sold on the PC and the bad pirates are the scapegoat of course. And so they will never make a game for the PC again without even thinking once about their own failures.

Not that I care for console ports anymore anyway...

I liked it very much, however the gametime was horribly short. Full price for 5 hours of gameplay? I cant believe I actually paid that, and surely wont in the future.

News Comments > German Violent Game Ban?
43. Re: German Violent Game Ban? Jun 7, 2009, 09:10 Muscular Beaver

The main reason for all this crap is that right now we have a big coalition ruling the country which is composed out of the 2 biggest parties. Those 2 often cant find a consensus. But the far bigger problem is that there is no real opposition to tell them that they are talking and doing complete nonsense most of the time. Its a huge clash of interests internally.

I really hope it will be better after the election, but if this coalition will be there again, it will be just as horrible as before.

What a dumb comment. I am German and I have absolutely no idea what that "other shit" is that you are referring to. And I don't think there are words to describe just how utterly retarded the Nazi comparison is.

What? You have no idea? Where have you been for the last 3 legislative periods?
Seriously, if you havent noticed all that crap yet, youre showing your ignorance pretty good.
What about the internet (child pornography) censorship that is planned while being actually utterly useless to prevent child pornography? Then it was just discovered that the government doesnt even call the providers of such content to get it offline, while some private organization did this and most of the providers actually took it offline. What about the 1 euro jobs that are grant-aided and forced by the government just so that unemployed people vanish from the statistics? What about the horrible crisis management? Everyone with a name in the economy tells them to not do what they are doing and they are still doing it. Look at the "Umweltprämie", which is pristine hypocrisy because it doesnt even help the environment at all. Its actually very bad for it AND the economy since the new cars are putting extra load on the environment, not to mention that cars which would have lasted at least 10 more years and have already been produced get destroyed. Already next year all those users of the "Umweltprämie" will not be helping the economy to recover because they already bought a new car and wont be doing that again for quite a few years.
Just a few examples you somehow didnt notice.

The Nazi comparison is not utterly retarded. Look at what they did once they had the power to do so. They had similar censorship and tried to monitor people like Germany is trying to now.
Germanys censorship was bad already, but right now its getting out of hand. They even wanted to ban paintball games. They even didnt allow some LARPs because of the "violence" that was going to be shown there.

Regress of freedom par excellence. Actually it fits quite good into the other shit thats going on in Germany right now. Some people even compare it to the time when the nazis established similar restrictions and such comparisons arent even that far fetched anymore...

18. Re: ARMA II Flash Game Jun 6, 2009, 17:04 Muscular Beaver

So you guys whine because your cracked copy has fade (the copy protection that has been in BIS games since OFP)?

Anyways, I cant understand all the flaming. I am playing it already and its a very good game, actually the best PC (!!!) game since Supreme Commander. Sure there are a few flaws but nothing really game breaking. Also the AI is very strong actually, if you switch them to the highest setting. One of the best Ive ever seen actually. A huge improvement over ArmA 1.

But I really dont care if idiots who believe blindly in this bullshit talking in reviews dont play the game. Well, I do. That way it less idiots in mp games for us people who enjoy it. The mature community of OFP and ArmA has always been a very huge plus.

They can go play their "awesome" console ports instead.
