Looks like some cheap flash game. Why should I pay for a flash game?

Looks like many here forget that this game is just another game designed for consoles.
If it was only made for the PC, I have no doubts that it would have been much more close to the first 2 parts.
They had to dumb so much down for the consoles.

Eh, BG1 had the (unnecessary) free-roaming world map that added a lot of weight. BG2 was a far better narrative thanks in part to the greatly reduced world map. That's why BG2 is pretty much unanimously agreed to be the better of the two.

I disagree strongly. BG1 seemed much more massive because of that fact. You could always take different routes to your destination and always see something new and do lots of sidequests. Or if you were in the mood just go strolling around and explore.
It actually made me sad that that wasnt there in BG2 anymore.

Paranoid Jack:
If BG and IWD couldnt keep you playing, nothing would. There has never been a better story or atmosphere. These games were and still are some of the best RPGs ever made.
You really missed something.

Thanks to some mods you can play BG1 with the BG2 engine and choose more resolutions. And all of the games (BG and IWD series) work on my Vista 64. I am still playing them from time to time. Right now I am about 2/3 done with BG1 + expansion and still need to play BG 2 and IWD 1 & 2 + expansions.
The awesome thing is that the graphics still look very nice (except maybe the characters). If a 3D engine would have been used for these games, I doubt I would have played em more than once and they would look horrible now.

The expansions are way better than the original NWN2? Or NWN2 is way better than NWN1?

I havent touched the expansions yet, but the original NWN2 is much better than NWN1, even though it wasnt made by Bioware.
The controls are still quite clumsy, but the story, the atmosphere and party system is sooo much better. I cant get myself away from this game.

Right now I am playing NWN2 with all its expansions (awesome game too, unexaggerated 50 times better than the first part). When I'm done with that The Witcher will be next.

16. Re: EA's Take-Two Takeover Follow-up Dec 22, 2008, 16:58 Muscular Beaver

Things change. When it costs millions to develop a game then being able to make that money back becomes all the more important. To think of computer games as a purely artistic form is incredibly naive.

You misunderstood. Right now the money plays the only role. Games get released as a pile of bugs/crap/shit/etc. just so they can keep their release date or controls get dumbed down just because they think that will attract more people and several other things.
I never said computer games are purely artistic. Not even "pure" art is purely artistic. Theres always the question about money, but it shouldnt take over like it does right now.

Yes things change, but that doesnt mean those changes are good or people have to like them.

But if you seriously defend EA's policies, I dont have anything more to say to you.

Computer games are art, they should never be mainly about the money. But they have become over the last few years, special thanks to EA. FU!

Funny that some people here actually look critically at Mass Effect. All people I talked to never understood why I kinda disliked Mass Effect and always bashed me for talking so "bad" about it.
The idea, story and atmosphere were simply awesome in that game, but it was far too short (got through it in under 15 hours because of the sidequests that are in no way connected to the main route - you actually have to find them yourself and might accidently stumble across the main quests on the way and may complete the game accidently because of that - as I did) and too simple. A typical console port actually, minus bad controls.

Concerning JE, I also never looked at it because I dont like that Chinese theme at all.

I am really thrilled about this game and hope a game will finally come in reach of the Baldur's Gate series, but I doubt they will be successful judging by the past few RPGs by Bioware which were nowhere near as massive as BG.

Do you guys think there will ever be a game again as massive and immersive as the BG and IWD series? 100 hours gameplay? Atmosphere that you dont want to stop playing anymore? Lots of places to explore and a nice story? Finally some controls that arent as clumsy aand clunky as NWN 1 & 2?

It's stupid to say that DRM does more against piracy than a previous copy protection does, except maybe pre-release pirating, depending on how its done, but we all know how this was done with Bioshock, where the game won't be installable anymore once the servers go down. Everyone with a little far sight should know that.

It's the pirates that keep laughing at the publishers and enjoy DRM-less and bloatware-less games while publishers torture their customers even more and of course lose some of them on the way.

It's simple logic if you know how DRM works and if you ever had problems with them. If you can't understand that, then maybe you should grow a little older and get more experience how things work.

Your main point is bullshit, because it simply doesn't work and only harasses the honest buyers. That's what you don't understand.
Like someone here already said before - more or less: It's like putting chain mail on your clients to protect YOURSELF against fire.

Well, you gotta be real thick if you think that DRM stops more casual pirates than a normal copy protection. Also to think that DRM stops piracy to an extend where publishers actually sell more games is real thick too.

How about telling us how many actually were driven to pirate this game because of this DRM? How many pirated it out of protest? How many didn't buy or pirate it out of protest?
You can't say either, so please STFU.

This whole DRM is only there because they need to assure their stock holders and investors. It's a placebo, nothing less.

Oh btw, it's spelled 'you're'. Pretty embarrassing when a German has to tell you that, huh?

Well if you think that a game without anything to accomplish keeps people playing, then youre a special kind of guy I guess. I really wonder why the Diablo series has an awesome story then if thats so unimportant.

*shrug* guess I woke up a fanboy again.

I played Sacred 1 for a little while, but it never showed a bit of story that was fun to complete (same with Titan Quest), so I quit it after a few hours. Thats why I think Diablo 2 is still superior. Especially in a hack n slash game its important to have a good story to keep people playing...

Does Sacred 2 have a good story this time?

Nice. Maybe now this ricer hype will decline a bit and cars will look pretty again. TFATF was prolly the biggest contributer to this... trend, but NFS surely did its part.

Maybe, at some time, we will see a part like NFS1 again. That game was fantastic.

Paid with PayPal anyway, so it doesnt really matter.
Once they allow wire transfers from Europe, I will be happy. Credit cards are not very common here.

I already deinstalled it. It just wasnt any more fun after the graphics and sounds were nothing new anymore. I always laughed my ass off when some pyro tried to tell me something, but even that was old after a while. I had such a blast as engineer, spy, soldier and demo back in TFC for years, but in TF2 most of the funny things all were removed. The biggest loss are the lack of grenades IMO. But I also miss some abilities from different classes a lot. Spy is no real fun anymore at all (no tranq-gun, no feign death, no hallucination grenades, etc) even though I had the funniest moments with him on TFC.
And the achievement crap is so not my thing in a shooter... reminds me too much of consoles... and WoW... and is only hurting the balance.

I never liked clan games anyway. Tried it for a while, but it was too serious for me and bunnyhopping (which was never fixed) destroyed the balance anyway. I just loved the fun about the game and how chaotic it could get.

Only things I really like about TF2 (besides the graphics and sound) is that conc grens & bunny hopping were removed and also that the pyro and scout are more usable now (but I still miss the caltrops and fire grenades).
