Definitely pick it up if you get the chance. I thought it was one of the better FPS titles I've played in quite some time. The Tron universe/vibe was very well done.

Scripted? How exactly can you tell one way or the other from a... say it with me... screenshot? Seriously.

As for the release date, I can't recall monolith slipping on release dates, especially by that kind of margin. Not everybody pulls the Sept. 30th routine.

For the death of BG and Freespace, two of my all-time favorite game franchises, they deserve all the nastiness that comes their way.

Unless something changed in the last 9 months or so, some form of the Steam client was integrated into all existing versions of Valve games, ie. it's part of the Half-Life interface. This happened when they rolled out CS 1.6 and the corresponding HL update. In order to play HL or any mods online, you have to pass through the Steam system for validation. I can't imagine they would seperate Steam from HL2 and make it an optional installation if they already integrated it into existing games.

Sounds pretty spot-on to me. I've been hearing 'before E3' for about a month or so.

and here I was thinking this was a discussion about a game demo...

as for failing to grasp the attention of games, uhh, *cough* NOLF (Gmae of the Year), AVP2 (Action Game of the Year) and NOLF2 (again, Action Game of the Year) surely failed to get anybodys attention, right?

As for Jack, I thought the full game was a blast when I got to play it. Certainly worth $30 considering how short CoD is for $50.

great list of games. looks like I should check out Hitman2. I've got everything else on the list and totally agree. worth every penny. The new NFS game is blast, too.

Yup, CS Retail has easily sold more than 1 million units. Not bad considering a mod for an 8 year old engine is out-selling the latest and greatest tech demos.

It really is all about the gameplay...

3drealms indirectly helped in the development of manhattan project. they were looking at builds of the game throughout development and helped with lots of suggestions and gameplay tweaks. after all, duke is their property. it's only natural that they are interested in making sure things go well.

and yes, i worked on manhattan project

believe me... this is definitely an old-skool platform style game with a lot of new-skool tricks. anybody that mistakes it for a CS clone by looking at those screenshots has issues...
