At the risk of being branded something bad I'll throw my hat on this:
You could do with some other advertising options (I know, bear with me).
It is weird that most of the ads I see are for whatever comes through the ad program and that there isnt any direct promotion from gaming brands or game companies. I've worked in marketing with large budgets and was allways happy to throw a comparatively small amount at a fun project (small for our budget, but big for the publication). While proving ROI is great, sometimes just being able to point at something and say 'look here is our brand support' helps.

So (as an example) why not ad a custom box/ad on the right below the current ads, limited to game companies and another for hardware, call them "corporate gaming overlord supporters of the site", charge them a couple of $k per month each and then give them their own landing page tied to the box.
Reach out to your contacts and ask them to throw it over to the marketing department and let them know its a community goodwill promo/ad vehicle for relatively low cost.
You could even add an extra link to a post that talks about them or their game, more links more seo.

I do love the lack of enshittification and old school simplicity here, which is what bring me back. But I do think there are a few more avenues for you to lean on the corporate world for funding.

The stupid part is the location. North Phoenix is not where those workers are.
Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa would have been better. They could have tapped into the existing Intel, OnSemi, Microchip, Rivian and future LG workers. But hey, what do I know?

Yeah it was a looong talk. Amazing though, he just stood there, no notes, and just talked about what was on his mind, about the tech, ID, other companies (I liked his idea of using Apple to figure out where latency lies within the entire system at a electronic level).

Overall, very very cool and im glad I was there!

I never got what peoples problem with the vehicle physics where, they seem fine to me.

Try chucking a grenade under a tank and watching the tank flip into the air...

Oddly enough the hiking season winds down for the summer here in AZ.

Its kind of a shame as you read about all the cool summer stuff that everyone else gets up to, Bar BQ, hiking etc and we have to wait for it to cool down before we get to have a go at it again.

As for Paris, a Firefox mod that blocks all mention of her name would be great!

Anyone else think that the decline of the PC gaming market started around the same time as the Ghz race flattened out and the graphics cards appeared to stagnate in their power?

I remember upgrading to a 6800GT OC and an AMD FX-53 back before Doom 3 was released. Since then I havemnt upgraded, nor have I had a single reason too.

Just a thought.

Slight tangent.

Ive been thinking about getting some sort of telescope, as I sawan image that some guy took with his webcam through his telescope of jupiter, it was pretty detailed. Which just blew my mind.

If i wanted to to get something to look at other planets (Spot those pesky martians maybe!), any suggestions?

Ive always been interested in Stars and such but (weirdly enough) it had never occured to me to get a scope.

I picked my lights up at Wal Mart (I try and avoid the place like the plague, but after reading about how they were pushing them I figured they should have a decent selection).

Im going to go back to Home Depot tonight and check to see whether they have CFL's in the size I need, and then probably head over to Lowes.

Ive seen some LED lights online, but again too expensive to justify the additional expense.

Anyone know what would happen if I put a non dimming CFL into a dimmible socket and dimmed it? Im pretty sure it wont blow up, but just curious.

And wow, that Grainger site needs help...

lots of help.

As for the intermediary screw size, its literally that, about a 1/2inch screw. The fans are Hampton Bay (From Home Depot). Not something I even thought about when we brought them, but its proving a touch annoying. I'll have a proper hunt around in a few days and see what I can come up with, but as they are some of the most used lights in the house, they are definatly going to get replaced.

As for the dimmable ones, the bulbs i got for the kitchen are dimmable, but I have no dimmer switch! And of course the fans are all dimmable, so im guessing they are going to cost more than normal, esp with the odd sized screws.

On an unrelated note, I just replaced my 6 kitchen can lights with flourescent bulbs, for just under $30 total.

Interestingly to buy ones that used 1watt less would have cost me double.

There not that bad, take about 30ish secs to warm up to full light levels, but thats a minor price to pay for the savings. Plus they also produce more light than the previous bulbs!

Win win so far! Next up I have to find small bulbs for all my ceiling fan lights, they have an odd intermediary screw size which im guessing im probably going to have to find online.

Seriously, all the hype behind the thing got me to install it.

Seems ok, but I found myself having to disable it on the majority of pages I visited as it was screwing up the layout and blocking random images and movies.

So for those of you who like to emulate me, stay away from adblock!
