By the time Halo is ported to the PC, the majority will already own it on Xbox, thus making the release appear to flop. I don't have an Xbox, yet, but I'm sure as hell getting one for Halo-- rather than waiting until the summer of 2003.

a few of them were pretty good
I never played any of the mods, but I will agree there were some that were good. I remember some from the original Tribes that were fun.
but most just amped the speed and gave people super weapons
This is where things get ugly. I guess there are some who like that type of play. Mods are all around good until they start trying to give one team/person an advantage over the others. The way I see it is this:

  • If you want speed and powerful weapons, switch over and play a DM game of Quake or Unreal Tourney
  • If you want team play and strategy, play Tribes 2

I hope this game continues to thrive just as the first one did.

This is the worst excuse for a post i've ever seen in my life.
TRIBES 2 suck! dont buy this peice of s***
It's odd to see how many of you rushed out and bought the game when it first became available, and now how many of you are turning your backs on it. Tribes 2 is still a great game, I play it all the time. Note that this is a matter of opinion. What's becoming sickening are the fact that everyone wants to play with mods. Mods, mods, mods, mods, mods... This can sometimes remove skill, and ultimately ruin the gameplay.

So these are my thoughts about the upcoming "re-release".
  • It's a horrible excuse for a "game of the year edition
  • The game's quality does seem somewhat deluted now
  • It's not a waste, just get ASE and filter out only the games you want to play

That being said, everyone take care.

Now don't go bashing Tribes if you aren't going to bash every other online game. Unreal Tourney, Quake 3, Swat 3, any game with Multiplayer has this involved.
I disagree completely with what you just said.

Yep, I can't do it either. I guess we aren't ready for the incredible technology behind it

Gayspy is really horrible. It was amazxing back in the quakespy days

Well said, I think it's safe to say that GameSpy has outlived it usefulness. Those crappy ads stole bandwidth too.

After the multitude changes in gameplay, patches, and patches to remove patches and patches to the in game patcher, I have had enough

That's a very good point, and I do agree that Sierra customer support is piss-poor. I've heard Sierra is offering a $20 mail in rebate for customers buying the second release who already own the original. Now call me dumb, but If you are more likely to win the lottery than actually get help from Sierra tech-support, how will the handle this massive wave of rebates? Next to that, shouldn't they just release some sort of free downloads for those of us who own the first one?

And what bothers me even more is the performance issue that you noted?
This game still takes a top end system to run in and enjoy its bells and whistles.
The game is not that beautiful. There is no excuse for needing a top end system to run it, and I have noticed that even games like Return to Castle Wolfenstein sometimes run better on my PC than T2.

Overall, I disagree with the statement that the game is dead, but I do believe this re-release is going to be a flop. Just some food for thought.

I want a coffee mug. I want a tasteful polo shirt. The t-shirts are just to gaudy for this old timer.

Rock on brother! I'd definetly buy the polo shirt.

I wish I could pay for an ftp service through Blues instead of considering paying Fileplanet.

Now there's an idea too.
