That’s pretty darn good considering how bad the game is. Must have been the appealing price.

I personally love the series. Day 1 purchase for me. My fav genre is open-world co-op looter shooters (if done right), so this fits the bill nicely.

My gaming machine is a big black box. The only light I have on it is the disk activity indicator. It’s cool, it’s quiet, and doesn’t attract attention. It hides in the shadows.

On the other hand, my display, keyboard, mouse, and mousepad is basically like sitting in front of a tacky 1970s Christmas tree.

At least you're honest about it. Heh.

Doesn't that bother you, all those lights when you're gaming? They drive me insane. I put tape over every little light on my keyboard.

Nah, you can control the leds. In fact, the bias lighting on the back of my monitor actually helps my eyes. As far as the keyboard goes, I just turn that stuff down when I use it and they're not very bright either way (Christmas tree was an exaggeration). It really just makes my desk seem really high tech even though my gaming rig is 6 years old haha

Oh the memories... damn! This is when developers made online shooters that required skill and not the current “whoever sees the moving pixel first, wins” style gameplay. I remember when one-on-ones could last several minutes. You had to know the weapons, know your armor and jets, use the environment, and anticipate your opponent’s next move. It all mattered, even at close range. I’m not sure why they don’t make games like that anymore.

Even back then it was too different.
I remember playing it for the first time and almost quitting it, because I didnt get anywhere. Then for some reason I said to myself that this game is really awesome in the core, and you just have to learn it... and I became one of the best players.
Back then the community was pretty small too. I always saw the same players on servers, maybe 500 different regular players here in Europe, if not less. Only the mod community, particularly Renegades, was a little bigger, but I didnt really like the mods.

Yup, games need to be dumbed down to make a profit. The sad reality.

On one hand I'm surprised it hasn't been completely shut down. On the other I'm not surprised its population is apparently about 45 people give or take a dozen as of last summer.

Yeah, I played Ascend for a while, but after realizing that Hi-Rez took all the skill out of the game in exchange for microtransactions, I finally got fed up and quit. Hi-Rez basically destroyed the series (and sadly they still own the IP).

FB will be lucky to be around in 5 years. Teens and 20somethings don’t use it, and I doubt that trend is going to stop. Most of my friends that have been using it for 5+ years have been deleting their accounts, and I doubt that trend will be changing either.

looks lame.

still can't believe that so many critics praise Odyssey when it is just a copy and paste from Origins

Not true at all. Origins was a step in the right direction. Odyssey is the result of what players liked and disliked about Origins. That's how all devs should make their games, IMO.

This game & AC:Origins were spectacular...

You’ve got that right. I stopped playing AC games after 3 because it was too much the same ol’. But took a chance on AC Odyssey and I’m glad I did! Aside from really digging the ancient Greece theme, the new RPG-esque features really gives you a better sense of progression than the older games in the series. And while the combat still isn’t my favorite style (spam & roll), the stealth approach is just way better and satisfying anyway. I also love the tension when a merc is hunting you down. They always find me when I’m plotting out a stealth attack! It makes it really exciting!

Yes, if EA didn’t have such a long history of douchebaggery, then yeah, maybe more gamers would buy their games. That’s how it works. Thanks for pointing it out, captain obvious.

This game looks like you’ll have fun for the first 20 minutes or so, then will just become monotonous. They could have done so much more with this one.

They block ads for a game about growing a natural herb, but have no problem pimping ads for games where the objective is to kill everyone in sight. Intersting.

That’s what happens when you monopolize an industry. You abandon your customers and 3rd party vendors, and apparently you get really fat. Hopefully the competition will change that, for the sake of gamers, developers, and the rising cost of healthcare.
