Wow, only 35% complete and already the gameplay looks awesome! I'm actually suprised that the Unreal engine is pulling it off. Definitely looking forward to this one!

I've been playing PS for months and I absolutely love it. It's definitely the most interesting and fun MMOG that I've ever played... which to some of you is not saying much, I'm sure. But truthfully, if you get in a good outfit with lots of players, creating a squad and stomping through continents can be quite amazing. Using TeamSpeak and hanging out with people online is what this genre (fps) really needed. They update the game all the time and it's only getting better, IMO. There's definitely a lot of whiny babies that compain about it... but I've come to conclude that those guys just suck at playing it. Seriously. It's not a "run in and start spraying bullets" type game. You definitely have to think if you want to stay alive. Obviously, some people just don't want to do any thinking. ;-)

"Also, this is just personal preference, but I don't like the plastic look of obviously rendered graphics. You can design models with a 3d program without having them end up looking like these do... "

the models in this game were created in 3d first (for animation), and then transformed to 2d to blend in with the background.

I like the screenshots. The game is kind of Gothicesque, and that's a good thing.

What's ironic is that the Greeks are pretty much responsible for the creation of games in general. ;-)

Actually, JC finished the D3 engine over a year ago. It's the content that's taking the time, not the engine. I'm pretty sure that JC is already well into his next gen gfx engine.

pay-to-play games have their up sides.... they dramatically decrease the number of idiots on the servers. ;-) As for myself, I've been playing PS for a while now and I love it.

"Upload a File, Go to Prison"

Hehehe, yeah right. I can see it now... the copyright police bust little 9 year old Johnny Smith for sharing his favorite Sesame Street tune "The Big Bird Shuffle". This whole thing gets more ridiculous as time goes on.

And as for the movie industry, they chose to resell their movies as well. They could have kept them all in the theaters like the old days, right? Well why are they worried about people sharing stuff that they've made available for purchase? It's their fault... they did it to the artist. if they're going to beat this thing, they need to use a completely different strategy. Busting a 9 year old just makes them look like idiots when they were the ones who did it to the artists. Bunch of pencil-neck, money grubbing morons. :-)

I actually liked the way Fallout Tactics was designed. You could select turn-based or real-time (w/pause) via the game prefs panel. Although, I wasn't too crazy about the game itself. Point is, having both is a nice implementation.

I'd also say that it depends on the _type_ of crpg (e.g. Gothic would suck with turn-based).

I never install new drivers unless they address problems that i currenly have, or have some kind of serious performance increase (which is very rare). I've learned that lesson after installing new drivers and being surprised when a current game (or games) that I'm playing doesn't work due to the new drivers. :-) (yea yea, just roll back to the old ones.... ah screw that)

I'm playing it coop at the moment and I really love the engine. No loading of areas... just seamless gameplay... not stop. I say bring on more expansions with a little more depth and it will win. Game devs like Bioware et al should be using an engine like this for their rpg's. It's a perfect engine for 3/4 view. Hats off to the devs.

I lost all interest in Unreal, Quake, TFC, CS, etc, as an online fps when Starsiege: Tribes came out. The devs at Dynamix showed the world how it should be done. All the other games kind of stopped in their tracks, and IMO, they're still there.

reminds me of hitman 2 physics, where every character weighs about 5lb. I guess it's realistic if you're shooting string puppets.

Dude, I do get a high fps, but choppiness doesn't only occur when you have a low fps due to vid memory and cpu. It also happens from net code, moving from interior to exterior, when a certain sound kicks in, disk reads, etc, etc. It's the programming that I'm worried about. All I'm saying is that tribes gameplay really relies on an engine that's based on the type of gameplay, and I've never seen the Unreal engine used in a way that's equivalent to tribes style of play (4 dimensions) and huge outdoor areas. Here's to hoping... because I'm a diehard tribes fan.
