Anyone who thinks that mmog's are on their way out, or believe that the market is currently a failure, are totally ignorant and are basically talking out of their ass. Tell that to the MILLIONS of people who currently play them, and who have always played them for the last 8 years. Just because you don't like those types of games doesn't mean that the MILLIONS of people that do are going to listen to your garbage. If anything, mmog's are just going to get better with time... just like your single-player games. I could easily say that the single-player games that you like suck, just as much as you can say that the mmog that I play sucks. It's a matter of taste and if you think it's fun. Period. And about that argument of paying a monthly fee... I'd much rather pay $15 each month than pay $20-$50 for a new game that basically does the same thing anyway (FPS's, RTS's, etc). Look at DOOM3 for example. It's the same shit FPS style gameplay we've been playing for 10 years. How is that new? So stop talking out of your asses and open your mind a little bit.

You know that it's the Tribes community when the whining about changes starts before the public testing.

every huge game community whines. That's just the sign of a great game, IMO. If you don't want to see the whining, don't go to the forums. Pretty damn simple.

With an attitude like that, I can see why they don't bother releasing in Europe at the same time as the US. I hope they never release it there either.

So I think it's about time to have a new category on the front page of this website. Under "Game Movies", add a new section called "Movie Games".

The Gamespot review of Doom 3 is just about dead on, IMO.

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/doom3/review.html

I tend to agree with most of Gamespot's reviews. But in this case, my personal opinion is that Doom 3 is about a 8.1. It doesn't matter how great the visial effects are if the gameplay is so darn boring.

Well considering that Irrational is using a modified UT2003 engine to do Tribes: Vengeance, I'd think that they'd opt for the next gen Unreal tech for System Shock 3. Personally, from what I've seen, I like the look of that engine better than Doom3.

because your Host file is blocking the server that hosts GameSpot's images. If you go into your Host file and comment out the address (I forget the name), you'll be able to see images again. Scan your Host file and comment out any address with the name "image" in it.

man, if those are xbox screenshot, they rock! With gfx like that, I won't have to buy another $400 card, I'll just rent the xbox version, beat it in a few day, and then be done with it.

if you actually went to their website and read up on it, you'd know what it is. Why bother posting if you don't know what the hell you're talking about?

<snipped from website>
Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).

there's a big difference between what they're making and an mmorpg.

don't expect it to feel like Fallout. It's probably going to play like morrowind (3rd person) but with a post-apocolyptic environment. Sounds good to me... I just hope travel is faster than morrowind and there's more content and better sound/music. The looped music in morrowind ruined it for me. Why make a beautiful game only to ruin it with horrible music and sound? That doesn't make any sense. Sound is just as important as graphics, IMO.

Actually, mmorpgs that skip all the bullshit is what I prefer. Don't buy City Of Heroes, if you like to run for 20 minutes looking for a team, if you like to kill bunnies for 8 full levels, if you like to cook and go fishing, if you like to "play house" with you friends.

God forbid that there's action in an mmorpg. If you like action and team strategy, buy City of Heroes. If you get sick of it after a few months, CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION.

CoH certainly seems fun at first, but I keep on hearing or reading from a number of people about the actual lack of long-term content and depth...

who cares about long-term? The game is fun from the very start... so if you get tired of it 3 months down the road, cancel your subscription. Pretty damn simple... so don't miss out on a fun experience just because of a few bitter gamers who most likely don't like the same kinds of games that you do.

CoH has strategy? Maybe a little, but Tic-Tac-Toe also has a little strategy, and guess what, it blows.

you obviously never played the game past lvl 2.

To each is own. But people talk smack about paying $15.00 a month yet buy a new single player game every 2 weeks at $50.00 a pop cause the one they were just playing got stale. Same shit different packaging.

The kiddies who bitch about what other people play don't pay for their games, they download them, play them, and THEN bitch about the game. lol That's probably why you see so many idiots bitching about mmog's... they're too cheap to pay for them so they base the game on beta feedback. You know, all the "I was in the beta" bullshitters. ;-)
